I saw them as a trio last week in Gateshead supporting Robin Trower where they opened with this track by the Tedeschi Trucks Band. As I already had the TTB CD I was more than impressed with this version. Superb evening overall. Got the new CD signed by Jess and Frankie which I'm playing a lot.
How dare they cover that masterpiece and do it every bit as well? Frankie is finally in his element. I’d love to know what Mr and Mrs Trucks think of it.
I first heard of this band only after watching the 2024 UK Blues Fed awards. You can judge a band by how they cover classics. This is an extraordinarily high standard. They are good!! Looking forward to following their journey 🔥
I seriously doubt that anyone loves the TTB original more than me and I could barely bring myself to watch this because I thought you’d blow it. You really really didn’t. I was in tears by the start of the solo and didn’t let up till the end. You really captured the emotional core of the song with your own stamp on its presentation. Derek and Susan would have to be proud of you. I know I am, you all did a fantastic job.

I realized soon after I heard the original that the song was destined to become a future blues standard, or at least a classic. That was from watching the epic July 2014 gig at the Vienne jazz festival in southern France - this beautiful show has been broadcast several times on TV and also found its way to UA-cam. 💗 Yes, clearly nobody can hope tp beat the original band on this lovely blues hymn, but this is a very good effort. Kudos to everyone involved!

Jess Hayes, Frankie Connolly and the rest of the players delivered the goods. Great singing, Jess moves it from soul to the gospel and Frankie's guitar work wisely avoided Derrick's defining slide sound and smoked it with his own. In this world, at this time, we need as much healing as we can get. Thanks.

What a brilliant beautiful voice, reminded me of an Australian singer Renae Geyer. Such a cool vocal and the band had it all together, loved the lead guitar work and a very competent drummer with some great drive and a bass that also drove the rhythm section. An all round spine tingling performance.
Virtuoso performances all around. It takes confidence and competence to tackle a sacred song, and you delivered a superb, masterful rendition. It's so sonic, in the pocket, and made for repeat listening because the whole band brings it! This is so fine; it will be in my favorites forever... it's not possible that you can listen to this too much.
