I had my first pair of bluebirds and 2 successful broods last year. My pair is back and come daily trying to decide which house they are going to pick 🥰. What a wonderful soul this man was 😇
Thank for your dedicated work over these decades Mr Larson. You are an inspiration. And thank you to the documentarians for bringing this story to the world.
What I see is a wonderful, dear man giving of himself (unselfishly) and getting so much from the bluebirds. He is such a blessing and he gets blessed in return. What a man!
What an amazing documentary about an amazing man. It is now April, 2023 when I am watching this. I have to wonder what Al Larson's status is today. Hope is still among us & his Bluebirds.
Thank you AL for all you have done! For the first year we here in New Brunswick Canada (Miramichi) have a beautiful bluebird pair nesting in birdhouses that swallows have been nesting in for years. They actually fought (in mid air) with the swallows and took over the nest! I was a bit sad to see the swallows lose the battle but those bluebirds ARE a beautiful bird. And, the swallows have plenty of nesting places in the nearby bird sanctuary (boxes set up by the society).
Central Ohio resident here (North Columbus). We have bluebirds here in the suburbs. Even 5 years ago, that was not the case. They are, for my money, the most beautiful bird in the country, and I'm thrilled whenever I hear them singing.
What a wonderful life Al had, a life he made for himself. I read envy is a good thing if the thing you envy is honourable and worthy. In that regard I envy the life Al chose to live and the service he offered. There is no greater wealth or treasure a man or woman can archive then what Al had, in my value system.
Thank You, Al!!! We as humans cannot thank you enough for your quest and efforts to save the bluebirds. If only more of us could be a little more like you... We feed wild birds in 3 locations twice daily and have for twenty-two years. We love them so and do all we can to help. But this is so beyond what most people would or could do, and you have really saved this species- so we are forever grateful- here's to those who can carry on in Al's place, too!!! xoxoxoxo~Robin (birdwoman ;)
What a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing this amazing man and the amazing bluebirds. I think I have seen only 1 in my life, and when I saw it, I thought "That's the bird from a Disney film - for real!" An amazing sight I would surely love to see again. No wonder his passion matches his beautiful heart!
Thank God for such a kind soul. I think i just fell in love! I hope that others can step in for this man and keep going with this and other types of conservation of our beautiful birds. I wish more children could see this and know that they can help and do something similar. So glad i got to watch this.
We have blue birds and about 4 boxes we can see from our porch. We watch them every spring come and go. We check their progress and marvel at the devotion and energy of the parents with the female doing most of the work. After seeing this video I hope to add more nest boxes on the property. It was a lovely video and showed how love comes in different sizes and temperaments with devotion separating the best from all the others. I am 76 and quite active on our property to make it more natural for all the flora and fauna we have in South Carolina. I would like to live as long as the birdman and still be active and not waste away as he describes folks that retire and just sit.
Love the compassion and commitment of this guy.I just moved to Kentucky and have seen lots of beautiful Eastern Bluebirds (this is the first time I ever saw one,I lived in Tucson Arizona for 61 years)among 23 other types of birds and when I see all of the Cardinals everyday I think of Gods love for us and when I see the Bluebirds I think of how my love and devotion for Him will always bring me peace. I think I will start building Bluebird nesting boxes too, he has inspired me! Thanks for the great video.
Al thank you for your dedication! I saw these birds in Yellowstone about 12 years ago by the water. Such a beautiful sight. I am now seeing them here in Indiana and have put a box up. This you tube clip was very encouraging.
Amazing to see how one great person has affected so many people and made such a huge difference in bringing back bluebirds. 25:18 Thats how I feel about monarch butterflies too.
I've been making Bluebird houses for about three years now. I have been disappointed that more people are not knowledgeable about the Spirit within the family of Bluebirds. After watching a couple of birdhouses I could see through my home windows, I've come to respect their ways and survival. Thanks to this video, I am thinking seriously of starting some "trails" of my own.
Thank you for this beautiful story. He's my hero. It is so inspiring to know that the love and care for nature from a single individual can have such a regenerative impact on nature. Thank you sir. I will share your story with others I meet. ~ Marianne
The Blue Birds would come to my house every spring raise their family’s every spring in Northern California . They were wonderful parents . The house was surrounded with grassy fields , it had the perfect habituate for them .
Would also like to comment that I live in southern Idaho and would love to join Al in checking the boxes each summer! I'm a newbie birder but on my apartment balcony for a few years now, I feed house finches, eurasian collared doves, dark-eyed juncos, a female northern flicker (who this past winter came by once in a while for water and whole peanuts), goldfinches, sparrows, and a family of 5 or 6 crows (with 3 noisy juveniles!) for whom I toss whole peanuts down onto the lawn every morning), and in the adjacent crabapple tree I love to watch the occasional cedar waxwing and the robins in late winter and spring. This past winter I started using the eBird by Cornell app because I had so many new visitors. Love birds so much! ❤ My daughter just laughs at my "crazy bird lady" ways. I've never actually been out intentionally birding alone or with a group but would love to find a group nearby.
My Grandfather Big Roy was alot like your Dad .Its amazing what these men could do by themselves. He loved his dogs and working .My Grandmother was the bird lover but mostly Red Cardinals . My Grandfather bought some land out in the country and in the winter he did firewood and in the summer fresh vegetable gardening before and after retirement. When I lived in their old home I fed dozens of cardinals. Now at my new place I have dozens of bluebirds about half the year because I put up 2 boxes and feed them lots of meal worms. I think when I retire I'll do some wood , vegetables and bluebirds.
I’ve always had bluebird boxes. I keep 8 or 9 active boxes. I was mounting 6 boxes on power poles behind a shopping center I worked at, and there were bluebirds MOVING IN before I finished with the last one. Other birds will move in sometimes, but that’s all right, next time maybe a bluebird couple will nest in the box. and they nest (in this area) several times in one season. it’s very interesting and I’ll always do it. I am glad to help them.
My heart breeds for all I desire in myself and all life if only I could cure every need I'm overwhelmed we need to do so much Jehovah help the pains go away AWAKEN MINDS AND EYES
Certainly aman such as he is loved by God how delightful to welcome him back into the paradise and thank him for all of him his love knowledge dedication loyalty quality of his image made by our creator what we look for in goodness
What a wonderful man. He’d be 100+ years old now. I hope he’s still going strong! It’s too bad we can’t eradicate House Sparrows and European Starlings. Impossible task, though. I can’t believe, that as of this post, there are 77,000 views, but only 1,300 thumbs up. Thumbs this up, folks! 👍👍 Edit: Just looked it up, and Al turned 100 years old, March 26, 2022.
That box that fell on the ground wouldn’t have lasted an hour in my area of Texas before the fire ants would’ve found and killed them. I used to dove hunt and if you didn’t find your downed dove fast enough the fire ants would be all over it.
A prized soilder in the war of conservation, thank you !!
God bless you, Al and your team!

I loved this video. This man has done so much for bluebirds. I wouldn't be able to walk up a hill and he's much older than I am. A wonderful story.
Thank for your dedicated work over these decades Mr Larson. You are an inspiration.
And thank you to the documentarians for bringing this story to the world.
This guy is amazing. Hope he stays young forever. God bless this man. He’s a blessing. Thank you for sharing
What a sweet man!!! God bless your heart !!❤🧡💛
Это здорово, хоть раз я выспался и почувствовал себя действительно здоровым душой.Спасибо за это. Действительно!

What a sweet man. I love bluebirds my Dad taught me to make and put up bluebird boxes.
This man is everything right in the world, what a beautiful human. Such an inspiration💙

Thank you for giving back.
My Faith is renewed in God, nature and kind people who care for. the bluebirds. Thank you.
This is proof that one person CAN make a difference. So inspiring! Thank you Mr. Larson.

This was the purest thing I have seen in months-so beautiful and amazing...
It truly is lovely isn’t it!

That saying “life is what we make it” is very true.
He is still alive you idiot!
What an amazing human being! Thank you!
I always enjoy watching this video .
This is really well done. Very inspiring.

Wow this guy deserves something for this. One of the few who actually cares about animals. thank you for all you've done.

This is a good guy. Need more good guys.
Al is the man.
I'll be doing this in 2 years, in Montana, when I retire...(switching jobs too!)
Still alive, I hope? Bless his soul.✨
Fantastic video
Awesome documentary. Al's wife looks exactly like the lady who played Jim Lovells' mother in Apollo 13 (1995).
Hail to the Bluebird man !
A rich man needs to give the Bluebird man a jeep cause he'll out live the truck he is driving.

What are long term benefits of reintroduction, will the species become self sustaining?
That box that fell on the ground wouldn’t have lasted an hour in my area of Texas before the fire ants would’ve found and killed them. I used to dove hunt and if you didn’t find your downed dove fast enough the fire ants would be all over it.
Where did the lightning bugs go? I no longer see them during summer nights.
I think an over population of Blue Birds have decimated the lightning bug population.
I just put out two boxes today
That's great I bet he nested a pile of swallows and other nice song birds too
What bird box do you recommend for bluebirds?

Fun Fact
Bluebird Man in chinese is D man in direct translate
RIP thank you for putting blue birds before yourself
I hope you keep going another 100 years.
