  • The Belarusian military shared a video on May 27 showing a drone-mounted anti-tank rocket launcher being showcased for army officials.
The rocket launcher appears to be an RPG-26 Aglen, supported by a four-rotor rig.
The demonstration took place at the Losvido training ground in the country’s Vitebsk region on May 18, according to Defence Blog.

The RPG mount seems particularly efficient. It uses the weapon itself as the drone framework. No added weight for mounts to hold the weapon and no weight expended on structure.

There are many different things this war is becoming known for, but the contribution of drones has truly changed the face of war forever. One question.
Having flown my friend's drone I can see one huge problem immediately. How do you stabilise the drone so that it doesn't move whilst tilting it to fire towards a ground target? The operator is going to have to direct the drone to attack from quite high and on a steady glide angle in order to target accurately which is very difficult to do.
I might have an answer but one that will not please Russia.
Replace the weapon with an NLAW or similar soft launch guided munition bearing in mind the destabilising effects on the drone whilst firing its payload and being able to target and fire remotely. A T-150 quadcopter with the ability to carry 68kg might be a good platform.

And where do you intend on launching it from?
The drone batteries would die out within minutes after carrying that much weight, and the drone needs to be within radio range for you to control it, so you can't relly on a launch from far away.
Launching it from your position wouldn't make that much of a difference either, considering that you are pinned down, chances are that your drone is going to get shot at from the moment it starts to take off from your position.
And even if it doesn't get hit, it won't be stable enough to consistently hit your target.
The more practical solution woud be to call in an artillery strike, even a mortar would do it...
And if you really want a drone to do this job, a better option would be a fixed wing aircraft.

I guess the counter to this would be setting up stronger anti drone hardware that can cover entire areas above ground forces. But that would mean that the side using such hardware would be signaling that they are in that area. So it really becomes a game of who has the fastest, undetectable, heavy weapon drone. Which drone operator is the most skilled and which drones of the commercial variety have the most range.

Basically the switchblade drone. I can see a scenario of anti drone drones being set like a mine into a low power state until it gets triggered by the sound of another drone flying above then flying to take it out. Maybe in a quick eject case/launchpad to protect from the elements and a secondary battery so it stays operational for a good duration of time. Maybe it could even lock onto the sound of other low flying targets and armored vehicles

When you think about it, this is just a cheap way of producing a more primitive, less accurate, one shot, short range platform for delivery of anti-tank missiles. Much better to just have a UCAV with long range and multiple fire and forget missiles. Otherwise you get a heavy launch tube and still require all the motors and battery power. Easy to shoot down too.

There is no recoil, dummy. RPGs are recoilless weapons, fired off the shoulder. Hence why you do not want to be standing behind the launcher. The Ukranians have proven that cheap home modified drones are perfectly capable of destroying expensive military hardware.

You could save on weight and space, if you just have only what's needed for the rocket to be launched. If that's electronically, they just need a signal after athourization, to fire. But, doing this would save you space and weight of the long tube.

    • @thechancellor3715

Using the RPG lauch tube as the structural element and hanging rotors, battery and controls is ingenious.
      · cost is only in the essential drone motors and gear.
      · allows for rotor additions for heavier weapons
      · very low cost makes it a disposable weapon...no need to hang around for recovery.

They are 10x cheaper and 10x more efficient at taking human lives and you are a complete idiot if you think that is a good thing in anyway. You saw how many lives Russia is willing to take from both their own soldiers and innocent civilians of Ukraine, he is only backing out now because morale and resources are dwindling. Once has these these weapons those problems are not irrelevant and he can send endless onslaughts to anyone he wants and no one can stop them. Now thing about domestic terrorism? Remember that school shooting not too long ago? What happens when the next shooter isn't using a gun but blows up the school with one these. God you kids play too much call of duty and got too disconnected from reality to realize how truly horrifying this will be and you're even bigger idiots for praising this and getting excited about it. Why use this when you have the reaper and predator drones that are armed with autocannons and any assortment of missiles you can think of? Seems obsolete by design. You got a frilly drone and a disposable rocket launcher... why not fly a actual combat drone that can be flown around the world from your home base and loaded with as much weaponry as an attack helicopter.

    • @GirogiArts
      @GirogiArts 2 роки тому

I think its exactly because it disposable. Its cheap, can be carried by a squad, and seems perfect for urban warfare. Why use an expensive missile and fly a massive drone that consumes expensive fuel when you can just strap a rocket launcher on a small drone? Its an economy/logistics game, as wars tend to be. Ukraine is already using small drones to drop grenades and bombs
