Until the 1970s nonone gave a rats if Aboriginal people ate "mutton fish" and derided it. It was plentiful. It was one of the few unimpeded protein sources left to coastal peoples. It stayed plentiful. Now... even that resources is contested and endangered and another Aboriginal resource is colonised.
