LOVE THE GREAT CORONATION ..LOVE THE GRAND ORCH/AND SINGERS THIS ONE OF THE BEST PRODUCTIONS I HAVE SEEN IN A VERY LONG TIME..LOVE BORIS VOICE...POWERFUL SINGING..
To my everlasting regret, I missed the chance to see/hear the great Martti Talvela sing Boris at the Metropolitan Opera during the 1975-1976 season. His fame having preceded him, every performance was sold out long before I could even think about attending. My consolation prize was a "Masked Ball" with Sherrill Milnes as Renato; HE was splendid, but both the principal tenor and the soprano were hors de combat and their subs really didn't come up to snuff. Sigh . . . Still, it WAS an evening at the Met, and nothing to sneeze at.
My favourite Godunov was Boris Christoff but of those I've seen recently, Kazakov is the best. Of course, it's all a matter of personal taste. It is a great, great opera.
Постановка роскошная, тенор великолепный,хор и оркестр мощные,Михаил Казачков прекрасен,но тембр голоса несколько высокий для партии Бориса,так мне слышится.По тембру голоса соответствует Ильдар Абдразаков.
What a commanding voice! Magnificent! I hope one day to see that the Russian monarchy restored and can exist beside the State. If Britain can manage it, why not?
Monarchy is really a wrong government, that of all the people in the country, instead of choosing the best person for the job, they choose the son/daughter of someone who once held that position.
Britain already managed it by refusing to accept Nicholas II and his family during the revolution (as a result, he was afterwards killed by bolsheviks). Not to mention Paul I assasinated by a gang with the support of the british ambassador.
@@marcin_kalbarczyk Well, it depends on how you set up the monarchy. In some Arab countries, the power is an absolute dictator for a king. In almost any country with a king, they have laws that prohibit people from saying negative things about the king or even gossiping about the king; the penalties are severe. So, there’s no freedom of speech. There is no *need* to have a king. Royalty drains money off of the people, and have the unhealthy concept that they are the only people who could do this job, except for the other ones in line of succession in their family. Don’t you think a democracy is better where the best person hopefully will win regardless of who their father or mother was?
No, actually it's quite the opposite. At one time there were groups that were bringing this up, and once there was a celebration when everyone half-expected he would come and stand in the tsar's spot and that be a sign, but he demonstratively took a spot on the other side and shattered the monarchists' hopes 😂. This has been a recurring theme.. i think they've given up finally. Putin is actually a surprisingly modest character, and very hard working. He sees himself as a work horse and I get the impression he gets a satisfaction specifically out of that. He seems to believe it's not the 'who' but the 'what' that matters. He wants to be proud of his legacy, or at least not ashamed.

Yes, but he's been dead since 2004. We need to move on.

I think the Bolshoi.
Bolshoi, Moscow.

@@peterlindner3283 what job? In constitutional monarchy the king is only symbolic, he doesnt de facto reign his country. Whats wrong with that?

I'll bet Putin has fantasies of being made Tzar whenever he hears the music of this opera.
