Hit all the right notes but with poor timing and everyone will know. Rhythm is key to sounding like you know what you’re doing. From your lessons I’ve learned so much and especially love this sort of lesson that just inspires me to put on a jam track and just go for it. Thank you.

Its funny how satchel mention this in one of his lesson in GuitarWorld. He said "you can play chromatically any note you want as long as you hit the right note on a downbeat, but i expect you to hit the right notes or else ill come to your house"
You can switch beetween blues and diatonic. Let say you play in A dorian key, your diatonic scale would be A dorian, B phyrgian, C lydian, D mixolydian, E aeolian, F#locrian, G major. But, this is the secret, you can replace all that diatonic scales with two blues scale (major and minor). Dorian, phyrgian, aeolian -> minor blues. Ionian, Lydian, Mixolydian -> major blues. Locrian stay in locrian, but you can add chromaticism b7,7,1. However, those switch needs to resolve to the diatonic notes that become the special features of the scale (like Phyrgian, the special features are b2 & #5. Lydian, #4 & 7. And so on). Those switch not only make more interesting solos, but also easier, since we often forget our position related to diatonic scale once we're moving to other frets, so just play blues scale and remember the diatonic notes later after we get the feel.

Great lesson. I think you skipped one absolutely necessary and fundamental instruction: ALWAYS USE A METRONOME!!!’ Start on an embarrassingly slow speed until you. Ail every beat and the metronome sound disappears, covered by your note. This improved my playing faster than anything else I’ve ever applied. It becomes an addiction ! A game.
Just confirmed exactly what I had assumed. 95% of what I was playing after watching this sounded like complete dogshit but I don’t care: it’s got me outside of the box and I can tell it will eventually come together!! Thanks again
Great lesson David if you slow it down it sounds like a jazz blues solo aka Robin Ford. A good way to practice is by just playing the pentatonic a few times then start singing the notes and you find your fingers seem to know the pitch and just go there, play with rhythm add a few more notes and your on your way.

I agree with that for every genre except maybe heavy metal shred. You're not really looking rhythmic elements there. It's more about a machine gun of notes, perfectly timed and shot out in creative ways. I'm only mouthing off for fun. He's right 99% of the time.

Tony Williams took control over a song like that once, and it is phenomenal. So, I think the whole thing is a feel and sound. Not people analyzing your melody and harmony. Plus, you want the long sought after female constituent in your audience for this kind of music. And if we face up to that fact, that's where it's at. If you do so, you've hit the mother lode.🥳🏌♀

Full Minor 7th flat 5 blues scale. Also play Major scale with a flat 5.

I started using it to record the videos about 2 years ago. Logic kept randomly stoping the recording after 30 minutes of recording!
