Although my cold process soap making tutorials are of a tutorial nature, they are intended for people who have a good understanding of making cold process soap. The information given is based on what works for me, however, there are lots of variables associated with cold process soap making and I therefore, take no responsibility for the results achieved when using the techniques or methods explained in these tutorials. Cold process soap involves the necessary use of sodium Hydroxide (lye) which is a very dangerous substance. Before attempting and cold process soap making you should ensure you are fully aware of the lye safety procedures and always wear the correct safety equipment when making soap.

Thank you for respecting the Aleppo soap makers and for helping us appreciate their style without misappropriating it. Beautiful!
That's so kind of you to say KIM , thank you so much 😊
I gagged when I read your comment and I showed it to my girlfriend and then she gagged too.
@@WolfeTone17-98 you deserve pity and prayers , i'm sorry that you are suffering
I made Aleppo style a couple of years ago and I will probably never make it again. It didn't sell at all and I was definitely not a fan of the smell. Thank you for your video.
What a wonderful soap. It's a cold process Aleppo, which I suppose if you want "authentic" Aleppo, there's an additional step of adding water and a ton of salt, and then slowly boiling out the "pure" soap, letting it float to the top, collecting it, and pouring it. It's effectively a hot process soap with the glycerin stripped away + a super long cure time. I'd be super curious what cold process Aleppo must be like. I imagine it's very gentle.
That's fascinating, thank you so much for sharing that
Thank you so much for this video, Lisa! I made an Aleppo style soap 2 years ago, 25% laurel berry oil, and I am still enjoying the last few bars. Last December I managed to make a small amount of soap using a tiny bit of laurel berry oil I made myself from my own laurel tree and using the olive oil from the farm I am now living on. A whole year before I can try...so worth the wait🤗
I’ve seen a video on UA-cam where they documented Aleppo soap being made and it’s REALLY fascinating how they do it! It’s one of the oldest forms of soap and the Technique used to make it hasn’t really changed in the all the centuries gone by!
One time as a new soaper I made 40%/60 Allepo soap, no water discount and I lived on the beach. LOL It took 2 years at the beach and a move to Texas to cure. I love the soap thank you!
Aleppo soap is wonderful. I visited Aleppo - and the rest of Syria of course - more than 20 years ago and I brought back some soaps from Aleppo. The other day I found a bar that I had not used. It is now very dark brown and I cut it in half to see the inside. The middle is a beautiful shade of bright green. The soap does not smell of anything and certainly doesn't smell rancid!
Wow, that is amazing, ooh I think I would use half and keep the other half
@@IDreamInSoap That is exactly what I have done!
I am so lucky I can get Aleppo soaps whenever I want, trust me if I said it's the most luxurious bar of soap ever ! it's just perfect ! it's so amazing and very cleansing very aromatic and makes my skin feels amazing (I have very bad eczema/dry skin)
thanks for the video and the recipe
Wow, you are so lucky , that's wonderful
@@CoventinaSoapery hahahaa I sniff them too !! they smell amazing ! I don't know any source in europe honestly, but you can ship them directly from syria or lebanon
I have used them also growing up in Lebanon for a while. They are not expensive at all. Personally I do not like them much. But since they sell laurel berry oil so expensive in EU and such, it gives it this luxurious feel. It s actually the opposite in Syria.
Ingredientes:
700 g Olive oil
300 g Laurel berry oil
130 ml Lye
200 ml water
How cool! I’ve never heard of Aleppo soap before. I’d love to see more videos like this that showcase different kinds of soap ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just got my 1st order from you this morning Lisa. I ordered Castile as that is what I know and you sent a sample of this with my order. I have skin that HATES a lot of things but this soap is really gentle, I even used it to wash my finished cross stitch that is ready for framing! Not what it is designed for but it worked :)
AW, I'm so pleased you like it, funny you should say the thing about your cross stitch, I had a mark on my carpet a while back, tried quite a few things and they didn't work, then grabbed a little scrap of Aleppo soap and it got the mark out, I was amazed, maybe we've stumbled on a secret use for it.
TFS…I make ‘aleppo’ type via hot process and have added cocoa butter at the end of the cook…very luxurious
Ooh that sounds lovely
Your videos are fantastic! I've watched bunches and bunches of them, and I'm learning all the while. Thank you Lisa!
That's so kind of you to say John , thank you so much 😊
Laurel berry oil smells wonderful. I love the earthy scent. Thx for showing off your beautiful gift. ❤️❤️❤️🌾🌼🌸🌺🌻🌞🪷🥀🌹🌷
Thank you. I made Aleppo style soap once using the stick blender hot process method. It turned out pretty good. I thought it smelled like disinfectant when I first unmoulded it and that the oil itself had a smoky, almost barbecue sauce style smoky aroma about it. I had to warm the oil to get it out of the bottle because it was so thick and then I rinsed the bottle with olive oil so I didn't miss a drop!
Yes, it can be rather thick can't it and I do find that different c=batches can have different smells, but I guess that makes sense as it will be affected by climate and all sorts of things. It can be pretty strong when you unmould it can't it :-)
@@IDreamInSoap I only made it once. I'm saving up for some more laurel berry oil 😂
@@rebeccanichol 😂😂 that oil has its own bank account
@@MrHerks 😂
I really love aleppo soap.👍
I love the scent of laurel oil too!
So I use the HP method to make aleppo soap.
Like you, I've never made it with the CP method, but it's really fun to see soap making through your videos!
I love you "I Dream In Soap!"🥰
The I Dream In Soap stamp you've got look's lovely. 🥰🇬🇧
I love it! 😀
Thank you Lisa
you inspire me with your way and voice .. I would like to thank you for the rich and informative talk in this video .. I learnt a lot from you .. My family and me we adore this soap , we’ve been using for decades. After watching this video I am intending to make some “Ghar soap bars “ the lovely bars Aleppo soap/ Laurel Berry soap or “Ghar” as it has many names .
I enjoy watching your channel
For the Laurel soap recipe, can we add sugar or honey to improve lather and bubble ??
I agree. Watching the oils and lye come together, and the lovely swirls as you were blending to emulsion, was really beautiful to see. 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much!
I like the way the green changed to a softer shade. It looks so pretty. Thank you Lisa for sharing your recipe.💚
Hi FranklyNaturalBeauty thank you so much for your very kind comment 😊
Thank you from Syria
You guys have Aleppo soap locally in syria
Love this soap .. initially.. I did use the Aleppo stamp.. now I have stopped 😊😊😊🥰🥰. You are absolutely right.. the area of Aleppo is the reason for the name . And everything there adds to the soap.. the atmospheric conditions , water etc .. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💕💕💕💕
I'm sure your soap is wonderful. I think people still understand how special the soap is, even if it's not dressed up to try to imitate the original
@@IDreamInSoap absolutely .. thank you. I have oa couple from 2 years. They are simply wonderful 💕💕.
There are some fascinating videos on Aleppo soap making.
Ooh yes, the 'real' stuff, yes, some of the processes are amazing
I have yet tried an Alleppo type nor a bastille soap...I have wanted to for years but the crazy cure time keeps me from trying it. Of course if I had just made it way back when the cure time would be over by now wouldn't it LOL - you have inspired me though, I going to give it a go -......Lisa I just heaved a great sigh after writing that 😂 - my zero patience is always my downfall! But even still, I am going to find me some laurel berry oil and dang it, I'm going to make it. There - I said it, out loud, (literally LOL) - off to shop now. Thanks for such great info on this soap!
He, he, excellent news, yes the wait time is a pain. I have both a Castille and an Aleppo coming of a year cure in the next month or so. But if you can make it and then just forget it, it's not too bad. I hope you found some oil. I think Bescented do it at a good price 'over there'
Thanks for sharing this video and your in-depth knowledge about this soap! I will give it a try. I've never tried this soap before!
I hope it goes well, good luck 👍
My laurel berry oil is on the way to me. So excitet to make this soap. Thanks for explaining and sharing 🌹
I've made a Castile and leaving it makes a huge difference. I'm on month five so far. I really want to give this a try one day. Thank you for a great video
Love it! And that soap splitter!!! Can you reveal where you got that?
Thanks so much. My soap cutter is from Custom Craft tools
Do we have to wait a year, is it possible to use it in a few days of making?
It needs the time to turn into Aleppo.
Fantastic recipe and your tips. Please keep rocking with different recipes like this.
Thank you, I will
Maravilloso.Exelente explicación y mucjas gracias por compartir la receta🌹🌹🌹
WOW~
It's my favorite soap style.
It's a soap color that I like in Japan.
It's so good!👍❤️💓
I think the nutrition of Aleppo oil will go through the screen.^^
Thank you so much 🤗
Thank you very much for this great video
You are very welcome. :-)
I made one last year and the smell is still very strong. And, yes, it is very expensive! I am waiting to use it now that it is almost at cure. Thanks for sharing, I am going to have to give it another go so I can smell up my studio again! :)
He, he it is pretty strong when it's 1st made isn't it, how exciting that your year is almost up - I hope yours is lovely
Great video, as always!
I made my first Aleppo type soap about 3.5 months ago, I added Hempseed oil, what an interesting aroma it gifted me with for the first week after I cut it haha. I have about 8 ounces of Laurel Berry oil left and suppose I should make another batch :)
Ooh yes, if you have the oil, I'd make the soap, it only gets better with a long cure, seem a shame to have that expensive oil just sitting around
Wonderful video ! Why it doesn’t turn into brown after one year , like it happens with the soap made in Allepo ?
I believe true Aleppo soap is made with a different process, this does get a little brown on the outside eventually
Thank you for this video. I’m getting ready to make this soap for Christmas gifts to family. 💜💜
but girls dont use soap tho
What a lovely shade of green it becomes! Beautiful soap Lisa.
I knew of Castile soaps, but not Aleppo ones. Are there any other hidden gems you can show us? I find it fascinating how we have localised methodologies!
Glad you enjoyed it, those are the main one, but I'm sure there will others I can find.
@@IDreamInSoap Oooh, that truly peeks my interest… but I accept I’m possibly not your average viewer 😉
I love making aleppo soap :) it's a beautiful, gentle bar, and people are always so shocked at the long cure time :) Yours came out so beautifully
That's so kind of you to say Cabbage Patch Soap, thank you so much 😊
Lovely soap Lisa, I enjoyed watching ! I love Aleppo like soaps! Will be doing some soon as well. Have a great night 💖
Thanks so much 😊
can you do a lather test please?
Beautiful, thank you for sharing your recipe, very nice of you.
Hi Paty Gil De Garcia thank you so much for your very kind comment 😊
I made mine last July and really enjoyed the simplicity of the process It still smell verry nice like herbal scent to my nose Presently using an end piece on my hands and already can say that it is a verry gentle soap Your soap is verry nice with your stamp
Thanks for sharing!
Where can i get your dlab mould from? I can make the wooden bit, i just need the silicone bit. Can you point me in the right direction please?
That soap looks soooo luxurious. Love the colour! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! 😊
This is lovely! I've never heard of Aleppo before. Thank you for the informational video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Such a special soap, looks amazing! Loved learning about Aleppo style soaps! (And you're so close to 40k subscribers, keep up the amazing work you are doing!!! So happy for you!!)
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for all the info. & thank you so much for respecting Aleppo soap, can you please tell us where you got the laurel berry oil from? i recently got an expensive one from U.S and didn't smell any thing like laurel berry oil or Aleppo soap:( rather it smells like clay or mud and turned brown not green right away:(
What was the 3er liquid?
Wow.... wonderful... also the colour change. Thank you so much for sharing. Love it ❣
Hi Sabine I'm so pleased you liked it and thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment for me ☺️
Thank you so much for the video. I like Aleppo soap a lot and I was wondering if its possible to use 40% or 50% laurel oil? or you think it doesn't work?
I'd love to make this. At what temperature of the lye solution did you add it to the oils? As the oils are cold... does the lye also need to be rather cooled down? Thank you!
I have my lye between 80-90F
@@IDreamInSoap Thank you Lisa. Your tutorials are wonderful! 💗
I always wanted to make this. That Laurel oil looks divine. I think I will purchase some not just for soap but maybe add it to my scalp oil blend for my scalp issues. I would love to try a bar from you but shipping to USA is brutal these days. It’s a shame.
HI Tracy. I hope you do give it a go. I agree, shipping is quite costly, but often the price of soap here is pretty well half the price that you have to pay in the US, so the overall cost is often similar or even cheaper if you but several bars.
Beautifull and simple! Thank you for sharing your recipe and your générosité😊
That's so kind of you to say Coton Vanille, thank you so much 😊
@@IDreamInSoap with plaisir ⭐️😊⭐️
Wow 😍❣️
Thank you Lisa 🤗😚💖
Thank you so much Ιώ Αμαδρυάς, that's very kind of you.
It needs a year to cure? Wow.. ^^ I thought maybe 6 months, because that's the cure for castille soap, I believe...
I've recently cut my 4th batch of soap (so I'm quite new in this hobby), and this time around it was reaaally soft. (the recipe has a very high olive oil content, so I somewhat expected that) Does c-popping the soap help with that?
Because your aleppo-style soap just cut beautifully!!
And on that topic, if I might ask, does it matter, how long you stir the batter? Or will it be the same result, as long as you got it to trace?
Buna !Este bun pentru spalat parul ? Multumesc !
Ai putea, dar am batoane de șampon speciale pentru asta.
Such a pretty soap! 😍
Thank you so much Lina Sjöstrand, that's very kind of you.
Hello Lisa, most of the soaps you make you put in the oven, why dont you put the Aleepo soap in the oven? thanks so much Andrea
HI Chaya, I did put this in the oven to CPOP, I think I just didn't mention it
@@IDreamInSoap thanks so much for that Lisa, have a great day
She mentioned it around the 9:57 mark I think 🤔
What size are the bars cut? thank you!
Thanks lisa … 🧼🧼🧼🐝🐝
What about olive oil?
Please can you let me know where you get your laurel berry oil from. I couldn't quite make it out in the video- sorry
Thank you for sharing
My pleasure, thanks for watching and leaving a comment
This might be a crazy request, but is it possible to tell us your measurements to the loaf and bars before the cure , im looking to make my bars that size in my normal range , thanks 😊
HI Jasmine, no problem at all. these are 10cm tall, then 5cm wide and 4cm thick. They're a lovely size :-)
@@IDreamInSoap thanks so much !! 🌻🌻🌻
I call mine “Aleppo Inspired” soap. 👍😀
Excellent, I think that's perfect
Lisa, I checked out Aleppo style soap (like your ethics here) and the cost of laurel berry oil was too much for me to make for home use.
I love your video, the loaf being cut the soap looked fabulous and after curing the ready to use bar perfect.
Oh yes, it is super expensive - I tend to buy a big 5kg container at a time, and that sets me back several hundred pounds
What source do you use for your Essential oils? I can't seem to find bulk.
I tend to use Mystic Moments in the UK
Would this cure faster with dual lye like Castille soap does?
I'm sorry I have no idea Shelley, I've never done a dual lye
That soap looks so lush, I bet it feels quite luxurious to use.
Where did you get the soap cutter?
Custom Craft Tools.
😉👍
Yes, if you dont mind, can you give proper measurements
I have given the 'proper' measurements, it's standard to give a soap recipe in %, the reason for this is that people all have different size soap moulds, if I said the amount in grams or ounces then if your mould was not exactly the same as mine then you would either have too much or not enough soap, so we always use %
Hi! Such an interesting one. Why the long cure time??
It's because it's an all liquid oil soap and like a castile, if you use it too early it can be rather slimy. Waiting for a year allows the chemical changes to happen and amke a wonderful bar.
@@IDreamInSoap thank you so much for the explanation!
@@IDreamInSoap my very first soap was a castile soap then. It was a complete fail as I tried to give it some fragrance by using food flavouring essence - of course it accelerated like hell - it's not a beauty of a soap, but still very good for use. I still have some left (started the soapmaking over a year ago) :)
Why do we have to keep it for 1 year before starting to use??
Because it will give a better quality non slimy soap, if you have a look at my How to make Castile soap video I go trough the whole year cure process and show why the long cure is important.
@@IDreamInSoap Thanks a lot for the reply.
Really appreciate the video.👍
Pls keep it up.
Love from India❤️
The Laurel berry oil is basically Bay Leave oil.
I just love your channel. You share every step of the way and you make the most fascinating products!!!!
Just an aside.....let your hair grow out naturally. You're wonderful!
I did a google search for ages but nothing came up about storing for so long,so how do you store this soap please? turned out great by the way but you know that song by Tom Jones called Sex Bomb- Sex Bomb, well this should be called Stink Bomb- Stink Bomb 🤣 hope the smell disipitates some what but i am thinking this is your first time making it so maybe you dont know either
I've made it quite a bit, they have a strong smell initially but it does calm down. I store them in slotted bakery trays, so they are protected from dust etc but have good air flow
Καλημερα σας παρακαλω βαλτε υποτιτλους
Sorry for the newbie question, but what is the "cleaning agent" of this type of soap, if all it is is basically oil and water?
Very interesting. When you let it cure for a year, is it out in the open? Or could it be put into a sealed container?
I'm a very beginning soap maker, and I'm nowhere near ready to make soap like this, but it's tempting. And I'm wondering whether I could protect the bars from dust by closing them up, or if they need air circulating around them as part of the curing process.
Thanks Denise, you would need to cure it somewhere that has a good air flow. In fact real Aleppo is poured straight onto floors in buildings and then cut and stacked
They say this soap is very effective against acne and it also good for the hair unlike all the other chemicals soap that make you go bald lol
I use 40% of laurel berry oil in mine.
Would love to buy a bar of this one day
It will be in the shop in April (nearly there :-) )
Please give proper measurements?
I have given the measurements in grams and in %s in the video at the end. I'm not sure what else you mean by proper.
Do you love it?
A whole year????? Why???
It's because it's an all liquid oil soap and like a castile, if you use it too early it can be rather slimy. Waiting for a year allows the chemical changes to happen and amke a wonderful bar.
I made some a couple of months ago. The only reason I'm commenting is mine did not turn out green like that at all?
I made it 30% laurel berry oil with olive/rice bran oil. Dunno exactly why it's not green like that. Its more of a grayish beige color but it does still have a woodsy medicinal scent to it from the laurel berry oil.
I used to be so ashamed to tell people where I was from because no one even knew a country called Syria existed when I was younger, let alone could find it on the map. And now, decades later, the whole world is making our soap, so much so that I can't ever find laurel berry oil for sale anywhere. Its always out of stock.
AW, that's such a shame, but it's people's own fault if they don't know of a country, you shouldn't be ashamed of it and yes Laurel berry oil can be tricky to source
Perhaps make some and sell it 😉
First!
He, he, you do know at some point I am going to have to give you a prize !!
@@IDreamInSoap yes I do!! Just watching is good enough!
As a citizen of Aleppo I would like to tell you that there is a one essential ingredient missing, what are you doing now is a mixer of both Aleppo soap and Palistinian Nablus soap.
Ooh, that's interesting, but you say I'd like to tell you one missing ingredient, but then you don't say
What is the one essential missing ingredient?
Aleppo soap is long hot process soap, not CP soap
Yes, the real traditional way is, I do agree, but this is just showing a way that people can make an aleppo style soap
I find hot process soap to be much more drying to the skin than cold process soap… So I will be making the cold process Aleppo style soap…
Thank you but you should say it is an imitation of Aleppo soap, a very good one but an imitation.
Ths is not Aleppo soap stile.
