  • We brought the PX1 to San Francisco to be part of the first ever Open Sauce and what a show it was! So much to see. So many top creators. Such a great crowd.
Open Sauce is a melding of makers and creators. A who's who of STEM UA-cam creators in the same space as some of the greatest makers. It took place on Pier 35 in San Francisco but it has already outgrown the venue with tickets selling out and then some. Here are just a few of the highlights and some of the amazing characters we got to hangout with. Some old friends and some new. We got some of our favorite, legendary creators in the mech, but we'd love to return next year to do even more...
We can't wait to see what Open Sauce 2024 brings!

This needs a collab with the Archacx and Kuratas mechs from Japan.

It's always great to see you guys and the prosthesis! Looks like they kinda had y'all hemmed in a bit there at the show though. If y'all can make it out to the East coast I'll do everything I can to come out and see ya!

At about 6 minutes, I think the word the guy is looking for is proprioceptive feedback! It's about learning to extend your sense of self to include your tool. Very cool concept

Question: will there ever be room for customization like adding custom armor plates or giving it a paint job

If you can afford to buy one I'm sure simple upgrades would not be a problem

When I saw the short list of participants I thought, oh good...hacksmith, styropyro, Cody's lab, thought emporium and Colin Furze in the same room...not sure I'm comfortable with that!!! "
What I didn't see was the guys with the giant car crushing robot....
Now I am sure that I'm not comfortable!!!
    Lol 😅

You guys hiring? Im on Vancouver Island. I would love to learn how to build mechs.
I saw someone complaining about how robot racing would be too slow?
Could you put something to shield the back of the mech/pilot, and just weld a bunch of jet engines/small engines to the back?
But then I guess everything has to be reinforced to stay together, due to the added strain of going faster.

I've heard somewhere that this giant robot will be a sport in the future and that you're trying to achieve it, and I think you're doing a great job making the robot, but I don't think it will be the sport of the future as some people may say it to be, it will be a novelty at first but I don't think people will watch a slow-moving machine racing each other long-term even with obstacle to spice things up a bit, the only viable Sports I could see this robot be in is a fighting match with his own kind and that's if you can make enough money for the repair costs while gaining profit. but who knows maybe I'm wrong maybe people want to watch giant robots racing each other, the world works in mysterious ways and that gave us a sports focus on slapping people😂

Thoughtful ruminations to be sure. The PX1 is a proof of concept at best, however. Next gen, race capable sports mechs will put it to shame. 2/3 the size. 1/2 the weight. 2x the power. Raptor class beasts. Picture Monster Jam meets American ninja warrior. Both are respected, celebrated cultural icons that entertain and inspire tens of million's of fans and generate hundreds of millions in revenue. No slapping people required. Define success without resorting to violence if that's not it?
But I'll play devils advocate. A MMMA (Mech Mixed Martial Art) league would be absolutely EPIC. I practiced martial arts my self (OK non-contact Capoeira) but I respect that form us human excellence. Imagine a league with all the same heat, dedication and human skill in the ring - but nobody gets hurt because you both wearing mech suits. We have the technology.
