Hi Cindy & Doug, I am a jewelry designer who is always seeking the best way to make my Jewelry stand out above the rest. Being new to the polymer clay art form and I am loving everything about it. I just raided my button jar and my cork cup (from years of saving corks) and I have made some really cool stamps. Thank you so much for the tutorials. Thanks to your Husband for keeping you in frame so I can actually see what you are doing. I am learning so much. And looking forward to the next tutorial.
I was a hobbyist when I first discovered your channel 5 years ago .now I have a simi steady income as an artist. My focus is sculpting animals with polymer clay, however I am so thankful for your channel so often you have tips like this that I know I can use . Your most helpful tip was one on baking times. that really helped me make long lasting durable sculptures that i could sell. You have so many great ideas like using buttons for texture that would never have occurred to me ! Your videos always encourage me to take my art to new levels
With bigger buttons, you can hold them in your hand (Or slide a toothpick in the buttonhole on the back) so you don't have to add a cork handle on. And you can use all kinds of stuff to be the handle... a lego piece, an empty chapstick tube (don't glue the lid closed on the chapstick, you can pop the lid off and use it as a small cookie cutter), a cleaned (and I like to debark) piece of stick from your yard, or even a small cleaned stone. Plus, your handle may come with its own texture for you to use. You can also use popsicle sticks to glue a pattern of buttons on to make stamping bars to cover large areas at a time. (I like to make them have two sticks. Space two sticks flat down with a small gap between them. Run the line of glue between the sticks and add the buttons on top of the glue, pushing the backs into it. You can make a bunch of rows together to make a large stamp pad, too. If it feels flimsy when you are done, you can cut a piece of cardboard to fit and glue it on the back, making it a stronger piece.) 🙂🙂🙂
I found a container full of different buttons at a yard sale for 50 cents and couldn't wait to try this. What a wonderful idea. Very easy to make and works great. I will never over look buttons again. Thanks
Your sponge hack is so clever! I'm just getting into polymer clay and am feeling the pinch of a budget. Thank you so much for producing your videos. They have helped immensely.
I have a drawer full of wine corks! (don't judge me LOL!) and wanted to do something with them. My MIL just gave me a box of old buttons so I know what I'm doing the next few days.
Hi! This is such a cool, inexpensive idea. However, if like me, you don't drink alcohol, you can purchase wine corks for crafting off of Amazon. I saw 50 for only $9.42, and that was just looking real quick. You may be able to find them even cheaper. Or, if you have a friend who likes wine, ask them for their left over corks. Yeah, you'll probably get a odd look, but it doesn't cost any money! 😁
Fantastic idea!! Love it and I have plenty of corks and buttons I had used on clay without the cork so thank you Cindi for your video! I'm new to polymer clay... need a lot more practice but made a few things for family and I love it!
That would be wonderful Pearl! They also work for stamping ink on paper but it works better if there is something a little squishy like a mouse pad or craft foam behind it, since the buttons are hard and don't have any give. :)
Thanks for sharing a wonderfully economical idea. I checked out the Kor Tools website and will be ordering some tools when I am in a more comfortable financial position. Until then the cork/button idea is something I can utilize right away.
fab tutorial. thanks for this. never thought of using corks (since I don't drink) but I do this myself with scrap clay! next time I see some corks I may pick something up
Wow Wow~~ It's really really a great idea~~!!! Then, I got to start drinking wines right a way haha.I really love and will definitely make something like soon on my project. Thanks for sharing a good idea all the time~!! 👍👍
Thank you for this vid! Can't wait to make some stamps with my kids. Can I ask what brand that knife is? Ifnim searching would I call it a retracted exacto knife?
Hey I did not know that you have "Bonne Maman" jam in Canada ! :p That's a great idea ! I use silicone mold putty to make some cool textures but these buttons are so pretty ! If you remember La Sphere Creative channel she made a wonderful necklace with a kind of flower button with leather effect if you want to take a look ;) Thanks for this video Cindy
I love that jam! It has the prettiest jars. I have probably 15 of those jars filled will sewing notions. They look so charming on the shelves of my grandma's sewing cabinet! I'll go check out that tutorial if I ge the chance. It sounds interesting!
Love this idea, thank you for sharing with us. I'm going to ask the pub to save me some corks & next time I'm at the thrift store keep an eye out for button bags 😀
Yes these button stamps should work for wax seals, though I think I would dampen the button with water first, so the wax releases from the stamp. Metal wax seal stamps, release the wax because the metal absorbs the heat and the wax cools and pulls away quickly. That "heat sink" thing wouldn't happen the same way with a plastic button.
Hi your videos are awesome i love it i have a question my husband makes awesome canes and i want to make some tatting shuttle made of clay can you please make a video ty maggy.
Thanks for this tutorial. I'd start right now, but I'm working on a custom doll for my daughter & kinda need steady hands (I watch short vids while I clean the dolls).
My comment isn't related to this video but I was wondering. If you know about genisis heat paint and if you can use it on raw clay since it's a heat set medium
Mikayla Hawkins...So many things that you can use them for. Jewellery, gift tags etc, card & scrapbook embellishments. Let your imagination run free (I do) & have fun 😊
Hello, I from España ,me gusta mucho tus trabajos pero yo no se inglés ,te hago una petición , Puedes traducir a Español de alguna forma ???, escrito o de cualquier forma ??,Muchas gracias soy tu fan amiga
this has nothing to do with polymer clay. Just want to ask about your hair color. what hair color do you have in? I love it. i always use affinage infiniti 4.66 intense veronese Red.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to have a glass of wine and sort through my buttons. (had a gallon can full of corks I threw out 6 months. darn) Seriously, good video, Thank you.

Two years old but info is still great. A wonderful idea for making one's own fabulous texture makers for polymer clay et al.
Thank you for the kind words!

Grandiosa idea!!! Muchas gracias por compartir con nosotros tu experiencia!
I like the idea but your camera angle makes it quite tricky to see thanks for the idea though
Love this tip Cindy! It can be used not just for polymer clay but for other clays too. Will share on my blog in the near future.

That's good to know, thanks!
Haha! It's like taking the "Spilled Buttons" texture sheet I used in my recent tutorial and making it REAL! Awesome idea! xx
You did a spilled buttons texture sheet? Sounds cool! Will have to go check that out.
Unruly Housewife

Love that idea wow
wow so cool. do you have a video on how to make your initials i would love that and that would be so cool
Could you make your own with polymer clay? What would you coat it with so it wouldn’t stick to the fresh clay when you stamp it?
Brass buttons from Waterbury Button Company! They've been in business since 1812.
great idea, thanks.
Oh nice! Great idea, simple and cheap 👍 🙏
Why does it HAVE to be polymer clay? What about other types of clay?
Thank you very much for your videos, I'm a beginner with polymer clay and I find your videos very helpful. Thank you! x
that is really neat! Thanks for the idea

Thanks so much.. I cannot spend any more dosh on stamps but want lots💜
Such a creative idea! Thanks. 😊

doing this tonight. Thank you
I will listen to your advice. I will start with few bottles of wine.
Very helpful
Do you have a tutorial on what are safe sealants for polymer clay if you paint on them?
Go to my blog at www.polymerclaytutor.com and type finishes into the search box there and you'find some great info!
My comment isn't related to this video but I was wondering. If you know about genisis heat paint and if you can use it on raw clay since it's a heat set medium
Nice video ✨✨
What is the NEVER KNEAD MACHINE? Where did you buy it? Thanks Joyce

Camera angle doesn't allow to see the designs properly. Try a camera angle from above. 🙄
Ugh that frustrated me. I don't see how anyone really see what shes doing

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to have a glass of wine and sort through my buttons. (had a gallon can full of corks I threw out 6 months. darn) Seriously, good video, Thank you.
