I remember him buying drinks for everyone, in the Bulls eye pub in Basildon Essex. It must have been about 1967. His song's always take me back to my tees.
Lost my mum few years back brings back fond memories 😢
Such a great voice, I've always loved this fella, RIP Mr Smith. Love you.
I have great memories of Crispian St Peters (Pete Smith). I was fortunate enough to be part of his backing band at the time of his chart successes in the mid sixties. Touring with him was always a treat and he had a great sense of humour. I was so sorry to hear of his passing.
+John Pearce, thanks for the music!
+Gary Cole Thank you for taking time to comment Gary. Warm wishes John.
John Pearce well John I am a massive fan of 60s music and I have been to see neuman 60s bands live over the years The Searchers the Hollies Joe Brown The Ivy League the Hermans Hermits who I must admit are great friends of mine especially the drummer Barry whitwam. I go to every year to see sensational 60s experience 60s gold solid silver 60s and any other 60s tours that are touring the country I go and see them three times when it tours they are great fun if crispian st. Peters alive today and he was touring I'll definitely go and see him as I think the Anthology CD has some fantastic songs from underrated 60s singer. as much as I like the hits from artists of the 60s I like the b sides and the album tracks which are great. my next 60s show I have three coming up first one is the new Amen Corner with special guests Mike adabo and Chris Farlowe the second one is the manfreds at the Millfield Art Centre Edmonton and then the third and final one will be Brian Poole and the tremeloes backed by Vanity Fair at the Millfield Arts Centre Edmonton and then in October I'm off to the O2 Arena indigo to see 60s gold with Gerry Pacemakers would be their final tour and The searches and many more fantastic greats from the 60s.
Lucky YOU!
wow....can't believe he sounds just the same as when the song was first released. that's a feat in itself. still love the song after all these years. so sad to hear he passed on.
Wish I had been there!
A lovely singer,much under rated.Thanks.

Best version!
May God rest you. Thank you for the lovely memories. xx
Radio London played the hell out of this. Great song.
Thank you for uploading! Sorry to say I hadn't heard of Crispian until I heard "The Pied Piper" in the closing credits of U.S. tv show, "Silicone Valley" two nights ago. He seemed like a lovely guy and I think it's sad his chart success didn't last a bit longer.
love this track
Great voice the song brings back memories x
Bloody fantastic.
A wonderful song!
Ich liebe dieses Lied. ..
❤️❤️❤️
reminds me of my Mum & Dad....
In this version, it sounds like from the late fifties - in my ears. (It's from 1962, for all I know).
In any case - wonderful song. Wonderful interpretation.
Thanks for the comment ferrarial - we hope you enjoyed the video! We agree - he deserved more hits! Please subscribe to watch more great videos that we think you'll love :)
Reminds me of the great Roy Orbison.
I loved this song and Roy Orbison !!....I agree !
Rambling 😊rose🌹😂🤣😂👌
cameras should have catched the instrumentation particularly the organist.#bestversion
The recorded version is 100 times better
Worst rendition I've ever heard in my life I had to go listen to the original to get my IQ points back!
He really can't sing, wow he sounds so much better on Pied Piper! In the newer version of this song is way better!
This song never ages, classic, love Pied piper also. I listen to UK gold every day and Crispin songs played daily❤️
Another classic from 60's, music we can't forget
Always loved this song.
A great song, I loved his version the most!!
Everybody knows the version by We Five
Jay and the Americans made it a hit.
I was heartbroken to hear of his passing. Such wonderful songs. I feel for his family.
I grew up listening to this music what a fantastic voice this was proper meaningful music love all the 60 music love it 🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
fantastic song, while serving in Germany this was one of only three records on the juke box and i fell in love with it then and still listen to it, respect to all those involved in this great song
Amazing voice fell in love with it the first time a heard him this and pide piper love them both xo 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘
Excellent 🌹Well Nailed🎉
Excellent! Excellent! What a talent, and what a loss so early in his life.
He was 71 when he died. I think he lived a long life
71 is not old in this day & age considering Kirk Douglas was 103 & Clint Eastwood is Neary 91 now & gene hackman is 91 & Tony Bennett is 95 now so don’t be so bloody smart because Crispian St. Peter’s was a good man & a great singer & he is sorely missed I loved his beautiful songs like you were on my mind 1965/1966 & pied piper 1966 absolutely beautiful songs. My dad is 72 going on 73 & he looks great for his age he only looks late 50’s so my heart goes out to Crispian st Peters family his wife son & daughter for their loss of this great man & great singer who gave us music fans some truly beautiful songs R.I.P Crispian St Peters (1939-2010).
@@ricknelson7045 ...And don't you dare overlook Methuselah...!!😊😕

Toller Song voller Zärtlichkeit, vor allem wenn man „in love“ ist❣️😍
Brilliant live version
I was a fan, i never new he had died in 2010, my son died that year to 23rd September 2010, and we just lost Peter Sarstedt, we are all getting on a bit now, so its going to happen more often, anyway, great memories !
Anyone here in April 2024
Such a beautiful love song I got feeling s in my shoes 💕
This fella once claimed he was a more dynamic performer than Elvis and Tom Jones and a better songwriter than the Beatles.
Love this song. He was actually born Robert Peter Smith in England. I think his stage name was cool. I like his voice.
Absolute talent still sounds like the first time everytime and great country voice to. Rip
I believe there’s another version of this song by ‘We Five’ but I prefer Caspian’s soft, soothing version.
Thanks to gold radio putting this in mind and now I carnt get it out of my mind.
Excellent tune👍

I remember this record from my childhood - 1960s. Love the record. But it's the first time now I have seen the face of the guy who sang the song. He's not how I imagined. I thought he'd have hippy hair and a 'tache. Thanks for uploading!
This is from the 80s, probably 15 or more years after the hit--he'd aged and changed his style by that point. Looks like more contemporary video may have been blocked, but eventually someone will repost, I suppose.
He was great a fantastic singer love this tune from my teenage years 🥰🥰
Shoosh 😊👌🌹Grandchildren 🌹👌💯🏖️
remembering my Crisp! Met him in Leeds in 60's even made him a sage green satin shirt he wore on Top of the Pops. RIP Crisp Happy Memories in Leeds, Notts and London XX
Val Ryan How wonderful that you knew him, and that he wore your shirt on TOTP! I will look out for a clip of "Crisp" in a green shirt!
@@imranh5395 it was sage green did you ever find it! I was in Leeds at the weekend that is where I first met him and we went shopping for the material I bought in Schofields Dept store (now no more) God bless you dear "Crisp"

An anthem of the sixties - god bless x

remember pied piper i was 10yrs old great song this guy was awesome
Lovely song - brings back so many fond and happy memories of my childhood - in the 80’s as my parents were playing such music all the time
This song is a perfect example of dynamics. Starts off low, continues to build to a crescendo then ends easy.
Genial, meine Jugendträume lebten mit diesem Lied auf! Danke danke für dieses emotionale Erlebnis🤗
Genial genial fantastisch 😚 Mit dieser tollen Musik startete vor 50 Jahren mein emotionales Leben🤗
Still had a great voice in the '80s, surprising he only had 3 hits
🤗💐❤️
Memories..
This song reached #6 in the Irish Charts. St.Peters suffered a stroke on New Year's Day 1995, but continued performing until 2001, when he announced his retirement due to his deteriorating health. He died on 8th June 2010, aged 71.

Hi Desmond, Crispian St. Peters died on 8 June 2010, after a long illness, at the age of 71. I'm not sure exactly what the illness was but he suffered a stroke in his 50s and had suffered from pneumonia various times in the years leading up to his death.

Acabo de redescubrir esta canción con la que me ha despertado Carlos Herrera. Además YO SOY DEL 66
I've always wondered, what was "on the corner" that could ease pain?
A pharmacy?
Anyway, his version of this song is much better than the other one.
Thanks dahur glad you liked it! Please keep watching and enjoying the videos on our channel - would love to hear more from you :)

Song geht tief... Wow... Noch immer.
ace
He may have put on some weight, but he can still sing and a great stage presence. A really enjoyable performance, but how sad to learn that he's now passed away.
A great man as a teenager used to go round to his house with my boyfriend and his band and sit and listen to them great days
