    This is very nice. Because of videos like this, I can show my friend in Cape Town South Africa where I went on my Arizona holiday in 1990.

    We two were teenagers from Texas in February 1974 in a CJ5 Jeep heading to Reno Nevada and passed this way in early morning darkness, driving a bit fast around the curves. Couldn't see anything with those old headlights.
    In 2011, I wanted to pass this way again and see what we missed 37 years earlier. Had I known the cliff sides and sharp turns that high up, I'd never had driven that carelessly. There was no speed limit in the desert of Nevada back then( 1974). We saw headlights behind us that disappeared and mirages- great trip.

    I worked at the mine outside Superior when it was Magma Copper from 1993 to 1996. I lived in Globe so this was my daily commute to work. Thanks for posting, it brought back a lot of memories.

    Went down that same highway recently as my wife and I rode from Mississippi to California and back on the bike. This is one of our favorite areas we went through as well as Salt River Canyon. We didn't expect to see what we saw, and were very much in awe. We so love the West. Globe was one one of our favorite places to stay the night.

    Proud to say I live in Globe, the friendliest town in the west. Everyone is your friend and people don't wear politics on their sleeve. I have made this drive dozens of times and it is always breathtaking and never boring. I Love This Place!!!!!

      Do you still live there? Globe has the worst crime rate in the state now. What happened? Either way, what a gorgeous area to live.

      Our first drive down this road was amazing and got more amazing as we went. When we came back through the area after a couple of days, it was probably same-o same-o although still scenic

    It is a Sanyo Xacti 30x advanced zoom full HD1920x1080 if that makes sense. It is a very well used camera several years old. At this point the focus is not as fast as it used to be. I do not remember husband's possible explanation for that but it has been a good camera for us

    In the mid 1960s, when I was 8, we left Phoenix, AZ to go back to Missouri. We got as far as Globe before our car broke down and we had to spend several days in a motel. It was a court style motel, like a motor inn. There was a big river behind it and a bridge to the left and down the street of the motel. Does anyone have any guesses the area this would have been in in Globe?

    • @carloscarpinteyro332
      @carloscarpinteyro332 7 років тому +1

      El Rey is my guess, it's still there. it is north of the bridge, south of the courthouse.

      You are welcome! I have a house in Globe, and it is just a few blocks from the bridge. Globe got it's name from a man finding a huge sperical shape of silver there, in the later 1800's. Globe is also located in the only penturbian county (Gila), in Arizona. Look at a book by Jack Lesinger called Penturbia. It's a fascinating read about what he projects as to the future population trends for the 48 contgious states of the USA.

    yes AZ is very peaceful but also gets up to 120 degrees (very very VERY HOT) with almost no rain

      @TheMarried123 8 років тому +1

      But at 4000' at our place 6 miles south of Globe, not so unbearably hot with wintertime snowfalls. The snow-capped peaks are so peaceful and this rural area is so quiet in the snow.

      As you stated, Courtney, the 3rd week of June is always, seemingly, the hottest weather in Arizona, of course, that is what you would expect, at the apex of the vernal (summer) equinox/ longest day of the year

      The entire Mogollon Rim country is cooler, not just Show Low. Prescott too, Mt. Graham, and Safford isn't as cool, but still cooler than PHX and Tucson and the other hot spots. Then there's the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and Eager and Springerville, not far from Sunrise Ski slopes, while Greer and Alpine get the coldest, with the most snow.
