I’m Assyrian and proud
I was in love with an Assyrian man in the 1990's. He was born in a small village called Araden, near the Kurdish area of northern Iraq, then moved to Baghdad, before coming to Americai the 1980's, by way of a Catholic relief agency that sent them to live in Greece first while awaiting immigration to the US. He was from a poor family, and no one spoke English, and didn't have much money between himself and his two brothers. By the skin of their teeth, they got to the Detroit area, and started working and saving and building their new lives. He was a sweet , kind, hardworking man, and knowing him opened my world up to all the wonderful history, music, and FABULOUS food of the Assyrian people. I even learned to speak a bit of their language! What an experience knowing that culture was! With all the pain in their history, they remain proud and strong as a people, and we can admire them for their will to survive and live well! So glad these videos are here for us... Thank you!❤

The first time i listen assyrian music and see assyrian people. I was curious one assyrian friend brought me here. Im surprised by this angel faces and beautiful men and women.
