Agree, almost all rice cooker in the market are like this. The designer thinks people who eat rice are dirty and messy, they don't care about clean ups. But we do. We just don't have a choice.
The lid is detachable just need to take off the screw, and if you did it you could see that inside there are wires. It is not definitely a good idea to put water in there!
The gasket gets very loose after time. But sir you do have to periodically clean the machine. It won't clean itself. I agree it is a bad design. I like my little black and Decker with a glass lid. I have aroma rice cooker. It's filter doesn't remove. I may get rid of it. Someday when I'm rich I'll get a simple Zojirushi like my Black and Decker one!!

There is rice filled in the vent of my cooker...how do i clean that..? Is this happens with your rice cooker too ?

put it in dish washer ,let it dry a day or 2 b4 using
