- I got permission from the fire department to do this test with my siren.
Shot on December 5, 2015. This is a video of my 2001-130 sounding off for its test at the same time as the Mayo Area Fire Department's 2001-130 sounding off for its monthly test. I was excited to do this test of my siren! The attack timing on my siren was manual. I did not test the rotator on my siren because the FD (fire department) says my siren could cause damage to their shed. This video is also for a 920+ subscriber special video! This FD's (fire department's) 2001-130 is tested at the first Saturday of every month at 1:00 PM ET by Spartanburg County. This is located in Mayo, South Carolina behind Mayo Area Fire Department Station #1 across from Mayo First Baptist Church off of Church Street and Mayo Street.

I don't care what others say, the 2001 is a fantastic siren! Great video!
I love the 2001. It's so cute
Not 1 but 2 PEOPLE WHO AGREE WITH ME!!! 2001 FTW!!!
Make it 3 folks, I think it's a great siren. It's been made since the 80s, and still made today. Rather reliable, and does great for coverage IMO.
People only bash it for its sound frequency, and that it replaced the thunderbolt in production. Well its not FSs fault, its actually the consumers fault. The damned things were expensive, running about 3 thousand dollars per setup, they needed Oil in practically every part and belts. Buyers thought that they could just stick them on a roof and forget about them. Word spread in the 80s that cities thunderbolts started to fail and simpler electro mechanical sirens were coming out that were just as loud if not louder, up to 10 dB louder, cheaper, and easier to maintain (cough cough ACA/ASC). The 80s also saw the rise of the Siratone series, and with the cold war dying in the late 80s, they started focusing on alerting for Nuclear Power plants, Tornadoes, and Natural disaster more often, so they (the city) needed a mass notification device that could alert the public via voice. When the 2001 series came out in the 80s, consumers saw the battery backup option, so those sales skyrocketed. Thus ending the Thunderbolts "10 to 1" status that has been king since the late 50s.
I agree with you.
2 minutes in 1:59! Awesome harmony!
+1 what ChicagoSirens said. Most enthusiasts hate these, but they sure do get the job done. Excellent test!!
Siren Hunters I used to hate them but then I realized how big they are in real life
I may not like them, but this is surely an epic moment to test your siren next to a state owned siren!
Sirens are so small and dinky on a pole but when someone stands next to it its huge
P-50
Blazing Jackolope cccccooooooooocccccckkkkkk yyyyyyooooouuuuurrrr aaaaassss
This would make for an awesome distance recording.
What a sound! Super!
EPIC THIS IS AMAZING
I like the truss the other 2001 is mounted on it reminds me of the Silverstreet Thunderbolt
So is there a transformer in there to charge the batteries? If so, is it single phase or three phase?
+Jakob Hill It's the rectifier. My 2001-130 didn't come with the rectifier. If it was included with the siren, it's single phase.
TrainsAndSirens1 All 2001's are single phase
Man, 2001s I love them when in attack
I have a 2001,.. about a mile from my apartment building and it does that too.
How come you didn't let yours rotate?
WOW! How did you get this siren?!
+Jacob Tompke I got it from eBay! But it was actually given to me by the seller of it! This video will explain how I got it: ua-cam.com/video/12XtsF_n8dY/v-deo.html
@@TrainsAndSirens1 please the 2001 needs to rotate
@@ToothlessTheCreepydragon9It’d damage the shed. The FD said so.
This is epic
this is a fantastic vid I love it
It looks like federal signal needs to get on par with sentry's dual single tone design
Your 2001-130 is louder than the one at the fire department what chopper level are you using it definitely sounds like level 7 .
Umm 2001s don't have chopper levels only Thunderbolts
Are you stupid?
one of my fav. siren
***** pikachuuu
That's awesome!
This is cool!
wow
that is cool
I recently saw a Model 5 on eBay. If I could, I'd buy it and rig it to a lift of some kind, maybe even rig it into a pickup truck's bed and remove the back seat to make a place for the compartments.
if a 2002 siren was made, this is what it could sound like
Do you live in mayo or something cause you make lots of vids in mayo
Mayo is an instrument that's why!
XD meme joke
Thaaaat was a bad joke l:(
i know :L not good at jokes
@@Creeperboy099 lol spongebob reference
Ooh Wow that's very loud! God!
Are you running it on batteries?
+MinecraftandBuses My siren is running on batteries. So, yes, it is.
Wow so epic
So was it exciting?
trainsandsirens1 why is the other 2001 not rotating
Wow 2 2001s thats crazy
I bet you can't wait to see your electric bill!
Zachary Donaldson The 2001 mounted on the trailer is on batteries. Hence the slightly lower pitch
220 ac with a 500 amp circuit breaker
Make more videos like these
How could this "damage" the building?
+21zachrwd Probably break the glass windows.
Pretty much. Sound that intense, that close *can* cause structural damage. China Gove NC Fire Department Station #43 had to stop using their Model 5 for Firecalls, as it was causing damage to the Catholic Church across the street, the intensity of the sound breaking apart the brick and mortar.
How do you get that 2001-130 siren
@Raymond Salinas: eBay.
mother of god !
A Chinese company, Lion King, makes an exact duplicate of this siren. The only difference is the Lion Kingemblem in the place where the FS emblem is.
Zachary Donaldson yes we know this will people stop talking about them even though the 2001 has patents, they don't work in China so they can copy whatever they want and they can't get sued
Heh, typical China. Always liking to copying products and make their own crappy version which then never works. I don't intend this as an offence though.
big siren insanity!!!!!!
Wow.
eerie
The one on the tower is slightly higher pitched than your siren
yeah that may be because he is running it off batteries but the 130 on the roof of the building would most likely be running on Mains power
There is a siren on the roof of the FD?
Federal signal clone?
