  • Our department works on over 200 research projects with academic and industry partners worldwide.
One of the projects that concluded this year is Reliablade. The project has developed game-changing digital twin technology for wind turbine blades, focused on tracking damages and predicting future conditions.
"We created a vision for a digital twin of wind turbine blades and made the first drawing", says Kim Branner, Project manager of ReliaBlade, "Having this vision that in the future digital twins of wind turbine blades will be something that comes along with the physical blade, so the digital twin of the blade follows what happens to the physical blade during its lifetime; it is sort of becoming a movement that more people want to join in other countries."
Get the highlights and impacts of the project in this in-depth video interview featuring Kim Branner, Andreas Reuter, Director of Fraunhofer IWES, and Morten Jeppesen, Head of Department at DTU Wind and Energy Systems.
