Daisy had lost a lot of weight by hiking. I remember when they met you in their videos and they were so buoyed by it. You are very respected in the video/PCT world!
I did watch Crunchmaster and Smiles thru hike. They are like energizer bunnies. They move along rather quickly. I enjoy Jay wanders out. He's a little more laid back and talks more about nature which I find relaxing. Thanks for uploading this video, I just loved it! 👍
Subway tunnel is cool and burney falls is so unique in that the water seeps out of the ground to form part of the falls. The. Falls are not just water tumbling over the ledge. Shasta is such a picturesque mountain. You’ve had an amazing adventure so far. Good on you both
Ouch!! I hope the blister wasn't too bothersome. I would've thought flat ground to be best for walking. Also, nice to go a bit off trail to experience some of the other wonders of the PCT. So much to see and take in. Another great update Mari..thanks.
You made good time going through lassen! Loved the bear sightings; when I hiked Yellowstone I was always watching out for bears. Your almost to the restaurant that has the pancakes near the California/ Oregon border! Can’t wait till you guys cross into Oregon!!!
Those golden hour video shots are glorious. And bears! Some people seem to be somewhat underwhelmed by Lassen Volcanic Park and just charge straight through so I'm glad you found plenty of interest. My feet empathise. Walking on a flat trail is tiring and sore-making.
I've been binging these videos. I want to one day hike the pct too. It's so incredibly beautiful, these videos alone can almost make me emotional😹 I'm going on my first thru hike ever next summer. The Juliana trail in Slovenia which is "only" 300 km. Curious if I still want to do the pct after haha
Lassen is the West Coast Yellowstone...so beautiful. Climb to the top of Mt. Lassen for one hell of a great view. Mari...I know you were from where I live, Nor Cali, San Fran Bay Area,....Im so surprised you have never been to Lassen. Mt. Shasta at all?...Loving your videos.....looks like you had one great trip...

I loved this stretch but this is where I got a real bad shin splint and had to get off the trail for a week when I got to Castle Crags. I remember the beauty more than the pain but it was a real swollen and red and painful shin.
Jealous of your first bear sighting experience. My first bear came crashing down the side of the trail running full tilt, not AT me, but in my direction. (He or she was spooked by my trail friends hiking far ahead of me and the bear was running away from them, FAST! Did I mention in my general direction? Just off the trail a few feet too. Those bears, it's amazing how swiftly they can run through the forest. Just crashing through things. Thankfully, not me!
That’s not the most scenic and spectacular part of Lassen but it is a cool part of the park. You get to see some of the geothermal activity. The meadows that pass through drakesbad are super pretty
I tumbled upon your videos while sick in bed with the flu. What a wonderful distraction from my troubles!!! I bingewatched 1-25. I can hardly wait for your next video. I woke up this morning for the first time in over a week feeling "normal"! Was it PCT or just the flu ran its course? Who knows but I'll credit your videos and the PCT.
Did you meet any long-term section hikers? I don't think I'll ever be able to dedicate enough time to thru-hike. My fear is I won't find the same sense of community :(
I am still amazed at nick carrying front loaded packs. Has he got any comments from other hikers. Seems most other hikers are trying to go ultra light.

It's an Aarn pack and yes, it's meant to counterbalance the weight. He liked it a lot!
Did you just put a security strap on your backpack?

Ah exciting that you're hiking this year! No, it was a black bear. Fortunately there aren't any grizzlies in that area!

What exactly is meant by the term "flipping" on the PCT??
It’s usually when you skip ahead then start walking in the other direction. A lot of hikers did it in 2019 because of the high snow levels
