I’ve been using the small knob to set and forget a baseline tension on the ball, so it doesn’t get all floppy when the big knob is released. Some higher end heads offer a similar adjustment and I assume this is it’s intended purpose, but I’m not sure why it isn’t mentioned anywhere by Smallrig or anyone who’s reviewed it.

Both knobs can be used for the ball adjustment. If one is loosened, the other can be used, and vice versa.

That other nob is to have tension on the ball so ur cam doesn't just drop with the big nob undone
The only difference between a 100 dollar tripod and a 1000 dollar tripod is build quality they do the same thing
