This project has been a long time in the making. Back in 2013 I did my first mainland tour with my sister Paula Fuga, opening for my favorite band, Groundation. We all quickly became great friends and shared many magical moments on that tour. It was an incredibly uplifting feeling to be so encouraged and supported by my musical heroes, to have them actually go out into the audience and watch our sets night after night. It’s a friendship that has lasted throughout the years, as we’ve crossed paths again and again on our journeys sharing our music around the world.
Now, in 2022, I am overjoyed to announce The first single “Together“ off of the forthcoming EP of the same name, a collaborative project with the band Rising Tide, comprised of many of those same musicians that inspired me years ago, as well as the horn section and backing vocals from my band The Full Circle. This collaboration began with my dear brother Marcus Urani reaching out about a feature for a song on Rising Tide’s new album, and it worked so well we just kept going and it grew into a partnership. This music is so pertinent to the times that we are living in. Our hope is that it can bring much-needed healing, awakening and togetherness in a time so much controlled chaos, division and animosity. “Together“ drops on January 21.

Definitely would love to see this too. The last live show I saw with my son a few yrs ago was Mike in duo and it was a revelation because live looping was concept my son wanted to explore as a sax player and seeing Mike's virtuoso foot performance on the board from up close was an eye opener. The sound was so layered and powerful even without a full band. It made you want to "be like Mike", very inspirational.
I hope this video has a gearhead component like what he uses, how it's connected but also how he uses all the buttons and knobs with his feet.
Being able to touch people with guitar playing, to make them feel through lyrics, to enjoy the communal experience through live performances is amazing. But to be able to inspire, to teach old and young generations to perform, to create would just be exceptional.
