  • $63. Could this be the sharpest 35mm f3.5 Lens ever made? Super Takumar review on the Leica SL Camera Class 329
** Pulitzer Prize awards are handed to the photographer not the camera!
So, truth be told, it's the person holding the camera is the artist creating the photo. Next, understand the foundation of this channel and photography itself, "the camera does not make a bad photographer a great photographer", a camera of $42 or $4,200. will not create an award-winning shot.
As far as post processing your work, well if you want to get the finest image you can after the shutter clicks, you absolutely must do some post work.
If you ordered a meal at a restaurant, would you like the meal better if the chef tweaked your food to the highest pro chef level? Yes of course.
    Be well.

Street photography, a genre of photography that records everyday life in a public place. The very publicness of the setting enables the photographer to take candid pictures of strangers, often without their knowledge. Street photographers do not necessarily have a social purpose in mind, but they prefer to isolate and capture moments which might otherwise go unnoticed.
    ***Why are CCD cameras better?
CCD sensors create high-quality, low-noise images. CMOS sensors are usually more susceptible to noise. Because each photosite on a CMOS sensor has several transistors located next to it, the light sensitivity of a CMOS chip tends to be lower, as many of the photons hit the transistors instead of the photosite.

(Quote from N.F. I. The Nashville Film Institute)
**The CCD was invented in 1969 at Bell Labs by Willard Boyle and George Smith. Since that CCD FILM LIKE SENSOR was sensitive to light it was used as image sensor for video and TV cameras. It could also be used as a memory device or analogue signal delay since it's principally a kind of analogue shift-register circuit.

Tack sharp glass there Carmina, lovely B&W images, I think in the years that have flowed we've forgotten just what a fabulous and iconic brand Pentax were, with a reputation for lenses to match, I still miss my old K1000, that was a fabulous affordable quality camera for learning ones craft on. I see your romance with that Leica, ain't ending anytime soon!

First, nice video, thank you! I love shooting b&w, it's so nostalgic to me. If I'm not shooting b&w film I have three custom shooting b&w modes I use when shooting with my dslr. For some reason , I like going into WWII era neighborhoods, they just speak to me. Thanks again Carmine!

I have the Super-Multi-Coated version of this lens (still M42 - same optics as this one). Adapted to Sony a7iii I found the corners were a bit soft even at F8. Since moving from Sony to Nikon, I recently got M42 adapter for Z6ii and it seems the corners are improved. Rumor has it the Nikon sensors are somewhat “thinner” literally, the physical size of the sensor. So those looking to adapt this lovely lens might need to know that the camera upon which it is adapted may impact image quality. Even with that, this is a gorgeous and tiny 35mm lens perfect for street photography and for monochrome. Colors are also quite nice, but in black and white I can see why that Leica looked so nice with this lens.

The original K-mount Pentax SMC 28mm 3.5 is also another hidden gem of a lens. I use it on my A7II for landscapes and no other vintage 28mm I’ve tried comes close.

@@damiendehorn6350 Funny you mention that lens because I just got one. After testing, I found the Nikon 28mm 2.8 Ai-s to do some things better than the Pentax, but the Pentax still beats it in a few other areas. Its a phenomenal lens of its own though and I’d say equals the Pentax overall.

I used a S/Takumar 35/3.5 like that for years on my lovely old original first series '64 Spotmatic (still have it!) and it's one of those lenses that just has a magic "something extra" when used with B&W film (FP4) and a Y12 filter for landscapes - especially in the mountains. It always had a keen following amongst those who knew what thay were doing. It really is special, and the limited 3.5 max doesn't matter when most of your shots are at f8! As a user, I can't speak highly enough about this lovely lens.... It was a legend back then and it's still unbeatable!

    Hi Carmine.
Although I'm a kind of a Nikon fan, (it only means that when I had to choose a camera brand, it would be Nikon), it's a pleasure to watch you holding that beauty SL. All the best in 2024

Thanks Carmine, will definitely investigate this one, especially as it doesn’t seem to be one of the radioactive Takumars.

The sharpest 35mm I have seen is the Tamron 35mm f1.4 sp. And wide open also edge to edge very sharp. But this lens plays in another ballpark.

My asahi Honeywell pentax of 1968 came with a screw mount f2.0 50mm. One of the best I’ve ever had. That includes my Fuji gf lenses and Schneider Super Symmar XL 110mm. The 110 being sharper than anything I ever saw.
