I really enjoy the way you presented this. Giving time to the npcs, letting them talk, showing interest in the environemnt. It's very nice to watch. Very theatrical.
He does the best I have seen. Great voice. But dam he makes it look so easy. I am playing on normal. I have use my sword 3 times to kill each one now. Not sure when this made but I swear they watch him and said. We have to make it harder now?
I'm not sure when it was, but at some point when I was regularly playing Halo 3 on Legendary, I realized that the strategies I was using were more effective than ANYTHING I could find in strategy guides online. I also came to realize that most people who made guides, didn't really know what they were doing on Legendary, and they would brute-force their way through encounters though either luck, or skipping things. So I eventually got myself a Hauppauge, and now I teach people how to play Halo.
At about 19:20 he swaps a beam rifle (ammo 72) for a beam rifle (ammo 73), then later he uses his last shot against a jackal with a beam rifle (ammo 1).
High Charity, is without doubt, the easiest and shortest mission. You can really tell how badly rushed the devs were from how unpolished the mission is. The "fast way" takes about 7 minutes, and the "kill everything" way takes about 15. Combat forms with shotguns continue to be the bane of my existence. The footage for both videos has been recorded, but not edited. I wanted to use my new computer, but the case is taking so long to ship, that I may soon buckle and use my old, POS laptop.
Haha I remember him. There’s another grunt later in the mission that’s hanging out by the Covenant supply cases with beam rifles in the area where there’s a spectre, and after you clear that area of all the enemies he’ll follow you to the end of the mission if you’re able to keep him alive. I tried it once on legendary but he got taken out by a wraith at the end of the mission. It’s really difficult too because he doesn’t wait for you to take out the enemies first-he just keeps walking so you have to get ahead of him and try to eliminate everything in your path or he’ll just walk into enemy fire and die.
I love how killing the enemies and completing a mission are two separate things. I saw a speedrun that completed this mission in a minute and a half and that also just shows how broken the game is to be able to glitch past half the mission
I like how you provide multiple strategies. Like when you accidently fell and fought the brutes in the "fight club" section you explain your optimal strategy so viewers learn various ways to deal with certain situations.
I know this was 8 years ago but this helped me a ton with my legendary run. My friend and I vowed to play every Halo fps on legendary (except Halo 5 for friend). He finished his part and I'm finishing mine. Almost done Halo 2, then I just have to do CE, and maybe Spartan Ops if I'm feeling masochistic
thats exactly how i used to play halo 2,dual needler is op in this game. The combination of dual needler and carbine as secondary with proper placement of plasma bomb and with some jumping to get cover while your health is down is the proper way to play halo 2.
0:49 "They betrayed us. The counselors." 2:38 I like how he nods in agreement. 5:00 Cool 6:06 cowardly Grunt! 6:24 7:41 "Behold the field of battle!" 11:07 to 17:23 I love the music 20:05 Snipe em' ALL! 29:31 tank required
A fun thing I’ve found is to actually turn on both the thunderstorm and the mythic skulls on. It actually makes your allies not worthless here, and with the right setup (swords), the first half of the mission essentially plays itself.
I love this mission! Kept playing it over and over. I always grab the Thunderstorm skull before the mission so all my Elite teammates were white Elites
That is correct. Fun fact: If you manage (through either luck, or repeated tries) to stick a Chieftain's weapon (Gravity Hammer, Fuel Rod Gun, or Plasma Turret) with either a Plasma or a Spike grenade, the grenade will stick, and it will kill the Chieftain when it detonates.
They're probably loooong gone. My only guess is that my style it kinda dry and informative, and they were expecting something funny, like achievement hunter. The part where I'm in the Ghost is kinda boring as well. Whatever. I'll just keep doing what I do best.
this tutorial was very useful when i first saw it and it helped me a lot the funny thing is that i didnt like when one of my elites died so i restarted until i they survided and surprisingly i beated this level with each and every one of the elites alive but it took me a pretty long time to do so, it was really funny
This may sound dumb, but what if the elites who come in the beginning in the pods just blank out and not follow (except the second one with an energy sword) I feel like everything just gets immensly hard at that point lol
Same thing on Halo 2 MCC. I heard that the MCC version of Halo 2 uses the Vista version instead of the Xbox version of the game, hence why those Elites wont move forward on Vista or MCC, but they do on Xbox original.
I always loved playing this level. I failed several times, but was finally to get to the checkpoint on Cairo Station on a separate player on legendary to get the thunderstorm skull. It would later have an effect on this level where all the elites and grunts were at the highest rank. I would push all the silver elites up to enemies and they would all pull out their energy swords.
Elite: "What vulgar taste! Even as trophies these weapons are worthless!" Me as Arbiter: Grabs a Rocket Launcher* Also me: Shot at a cluster of Brutes killing all 4 of them* Elite: ...... Perhaps I spoke too soon...
I was able to beat every other halo game (including odst and even wars) on legendary without a guide but halo 2 is so broken i needed one real bad. Thanks for all the help hokie
Wow, I thought you'd say that was one of the wildest fights in the game at 13:56 I have been trying desperately for DAYS to get my elites to all survive. My strat has been: Sticky jump -> nade ghosts -> go invis -> land and assasinate the jackal Drop and sticky the turret guy while falling, immediately sticky his partner Brute shot the rest of them while doing whatever Dodge the hailfire of bruteshot, lasers, stickies Pray you land the sticky on wave 2 And when you've think you've FINALLY done it, the jackals from the back flanking kill one of them. I've actually died TWICE to my allies landing a sticky on me when we get to the last part.
Having them recorded, and having them saved in the theater are two different things. I have the latter, not the former. But yes, I will be able to make the Halo 3 guide much faster since I already have strategies for every single encounter in the game.
For the section at 16:20, I found it much easier if you left one of the jackals alive. Take out the Brutes in the Spectre. Use active camo to go get a fresh Beam Rifle, and then head back to the Ghost. Take out the Jackal you left alive, and you'll have plenty of ammo to take out the 2nd Jackal Sniper.
I will not. I try to keep things as cinematic as possible in my guides, and campaign scoring kinda breaks that immersion. All of the runs that I'm going to use for the Halo 3 guide are already recorded and saved in the theater, and I didn't have campaign scoring activated for them.
I am pretty sure the ghost part was meant to be a vehicle section and not one where you get out and snipe or whatever. There are plenty of sections like this throughout the Halo series, idk why you're hating on this part specifically.
Possibly because you cannot play it as a vehicle section. You either get blown to smithereens by endless Bruteshots, or immediately picked off by a Jackal Sniper. Your only option is stopping in the back to pick off the Sniper, and while you're there, you might as well take out all the rest, especially since you can immediately replace the Beam Rifle ammo you just used. You even saw me play it as a vehicle section in the first area, and was that any fun? Endlessly firing the Ghost at bullet sponges until they fall down?
+Hokiebird428 Idk, I've always loved this level and play it cautiously but still fun, the snipers are/were always obnoxious in Halo 2, but the brute shots were easy enough to dodge for me at least. Other than those enemies, the only other thing I had to worry about was jackals with charged plasma pistols, they were easy enough to mop up though if done correctly (of course if they land the shot, you're fucked). I'll agree it's not a well done vehicle section, but it was still meant to be one which explains lack of ammo for guns you may need if you wanted to take a different approach.
"jackals with charged plasma pistols"... "of course if they land the shot, you're fucked" You sure about that? Plasma Pistols do not stall your vehicle in Halo 2.
+Hokiebird428 Happy Thanksgiving btw, I've completed a lot of Halo 2 on Legendary but there were still some levels that give me trouble (cough gravemind cough) so your walk through on that level and a couple others were very good.
No, mostly learned through it the hard way through trial and error, finding what works and what doesn't. There are still some missions that I haven't beaten. I'm sure if I tried again with a lot of the knowledge these guides taught me I'd probably be able to get through it a heck of a lot more easily and with less headache though. Random question though, why did you write @fenix instead of clicking reply? I would've answered much sooner.
It makes them a total joke, even on Legendary. Most of the time they miss, and when they do hit you, they only strip your shield, unless it was already depleted. No, Halo 3 had it perfect: if they catch you off guard, you're dead, but they're easy to see, and they have only one location where you can always find them.
Hokie I was playing this level once and at about where 7:45 is I hugged the right wall and found a fully loaded fuel rod. Is that for the lower difficulties only? Or was it a little earlier?
Am I seeing things or do berserking brutes toss plasma grenades!? I had no idea they did that if you were in a vehicle lol or maybe they weren't berserking. Hard to tell when I'm on the other side of the canyon trying to snipe with a ghost :-P
hokie i have 2 last things i want to ask: first in the beginning part of uprising how come u didn't swap out the plasma rifle for a brute shot? second, this is a thought i had last night, in the prison break section on gravemind i want to know ur thoughts if a person uses the brute shot and beam rifle or the carbine and beam rifle on that section? ik the recommended option is duel needelers and carbine but i am just curious.
how can all your allies stay alive mostly and act more or less smart. and all of my allies on legendary just run of to their demise and get killed really fast
Ean Rollins this is Spartan 117 Master Chief himself one and only and you are right revenge is like a poison before you know it he could turn you into something ugly you're right
That's because during the Great Schism the grunts didn't truly pick a side, and just stuck with whatever leaders they had, whether it be elites or brutes. The grunts in Halo 3 belong to the brutes, and even in Halo 2 on the levels Gravemind and High Charity, you can encounter grunts that are led by brutes.
hokie 2 things: first i wanted to say i tried the experiment and i got it done but in the end i ended up with carbine and needlers anyway so beam rifle is utterly useless in the holding area. the second thing is what if u intentially keep ur allies alive up untill the 2nd half of uprising would it be fun then since the elites are in ghosts/the specter if u use it?
Surprisingly, not. The Elites are far too aggressive for their own good even if you can get them into the Ghosts. Usually, I can''t even get them past all the Brute Shots and Jackal Snipers.
Actually its possible (I think you've already tried), but just with way more effort than it worth. First the outdoor area with snipers and bruteshots, then the area that you claimed no fun in it. More than a few dozens of death is needed to get those mindless basters pass those area alive.
After Halo MCC was announced I've been preparing myself for this campaign on Legendary, however I'm doing it with a coop partner over Xbox Live. Do these walkthroughs still work on Coop?
While true, this is neither clever, nor informative. In this mission, you'll get rid of the Sword loooong before it runs out of ammo. Sometimes when you switch away from the sword, you'll just melee them without assassinating them, and they will proceed to turn around and slaughter you with a single punch. The sword is just that extra little bit of insurance that things won't go wrong, and you have plenty of "ammo" for it.
Ok, I’m laying down the challenge right now: try to get at least two of your elite allies (not including the zealot) from the beginning all the way to the spectre and equip them with fuel rod guns.
confusedindividual - No need to apologize, but I concede defeat. When a Jackal can kill one of my Elites out of his Ghost with a fucking Plasma Pistol, something is seriously fucked.
I've tried billions of times to save the elites from the beginning but on legendary it simply just doesn't happen. I've given them fuel rod guns, swords and all but the ones in the beginning always go ahead of u and get themselves killed they really aren't worth saving so I wouldn't bother. Like Hokiebird said, arming the elites with the heavy weapons is fun, but u can always accomplish the same thing alone.
Everyone says Gravemind is the hardest level in the game on Legendary, but me and my friend got our asses handed to us way worse on Uprising. I don't know how many times we died at the level start trying to figure out how to get past all those Brutes with only a plasma rifle, energy sword and a few grenades. Whoever designed this one must have been in a really bad mood.
I really enjoy the way you presented this. Giving time to the npcs, letting them talk, showing interest in the environemnt. It's very nice to watch. Very theatrical.
That's the feel I was going for. Glad you enjoyed it.
He does the best I have seen. Great voice. But dam he makes it look so easy. I am playing on normal. I have use my sword 3 times to kill each one now. Not sure when this made but I swear they watch him and said. We have to make it harder now?
"By the Prophets, what have these Brutes done? They have shed our brothers' blood... and for that, they must die!"
Iderus Naimmee lmao I love when thats shouted
Iderus Naimmee jackass
Bah! Over so soon?
@Iderus Naimmee *grunt turns on active camo*
I'm invisible!
That quote is gangsta af
This is a difficult level on legendary, but Hokie's guide to this mission and other Halo 2 missions is probably the best guide on youtube.
I'm not sure when it was, but at some point when I was regularly playing Halo 3 on Legendary, I realized that the strategies I was using were more effective than ANYTHING I could find in strategy guides online. I never needed a guide I just come to watch your professional gameplay and a talent to make a walkthrough seem like a let's play
At about 19:20 he swaps a beam rifle (ammo 72) for a beam rifle (ammo 73), then later he uses his last shot against a jackal with a beam rifle (ammo 1).
Troy Liebe
lol strategy
Troy Liebe O.o wow...
I thought I was the only one that was gonna say anything
I love that detail in the level where the brutes will go check to see where the other brutes were at
Grunt: "Where mighty one go we go"
...lol
I really felt sad for the elite who was dying in the beginning 😢
The Halo 2 Jackal Snipers that is. The ones in Halo 3 are balanced quite nicely, and the ones in Halo 4 are a total joke.
Halo 4 was a total joke
High Charity, is without doubt, the easiest and shortest mission. You can really tell how badly rushed the devs were from how unpolished the mission is. Still using this guide in 2020. Best of the best.
Haha I remember him. 😂 6:07 the most hilarious moment I ever seen in Halo series 🤣🤣🤣
There is also an achievement for listening to that Grunt. I didn't expect to see it in this video.
I love how killing the enemies and completing a mission are two separate things. I saw a speedrun that completed this mission in a minute and a half and that also just shows how broken the game is to be able to glitch past half the mission
26:32 There is a bruteshot that just comes down from heaven at the top left corner.
Cute grunts 6:10
+benito franco You gotta love the grunt speeches, they make the game XD
"BRUTES STINKY BAD-BAD!"
I like how you provide multiple strategies. Like when you accidently fell and fought the brutes in the "fight club" section you explain your optimal strategy so viewers learn various ways to deal with certain situations.

Lol the subtitles in the beginning: “By the prophets what had these boobs done” XD
I know it's just level ambience but I swear it sounds like someone quietly saying "chief"
0:49 "They betrayed us. The counselors."
2:38 I like how he nods in agreement.
5:00 Cool
6:06 cowardly Grunt!
6:24
7:41 "Behold the field of battle!"
11:07 to 17:23 I love the music
20:05 Snipe em' ALL!

I like the second half
Especially when all of your allys are kept alive so when you go in there there is a gigantic fricken battle

actually it worked its self out. once i got into the second part with brutes and jackals they tp'd from somewhere and started fighting
ThatOneGuy they teleport automatically if still alive on this level I think it's the same deal with the grunts as well.
God damn I miss this game 😭😭
If you do this mission with the thunderstorm skull you'll have elite ultra and grunt ultra backing you up and makes the mission more fun.

Never Halo wars without a guide never ever!!!! I just say Arcadia
Great level great music😊.
Awesome videos man, very helpful, even though I change up the recipe every once in a while. Very thorough.
I love the way Hokie nods at the one elite
Elites kickass. I try to keep as much of them around as I can by the end and you end up with a hoard of'em
I remember this level distinctly because of the gold elite just going ham the whole time.
This bring back memories
Wow, I thought you'd say that was one of the wildest fights in the game at 13:56
I have been trying desperately for DAYS to get my elites to all survive.
My strat has been:
Sticky jump -> nade ghosts -> go invis -> land and assasinate the jackal
Drop and sticky the turret guy while falling, immediately sticky his partner
Brute shot the rest of them while doing whatever
Dodge the hailfire of bruteshot, lasers, stickies
Pray you land the sticky on wave 2
And when you've think you've FINALLY done it, the jackals from the back flanking kill one of them.
I've actually died TWICE to my allies landing a sticky on me when we get to the last part.
Hey Hokie, did you ever think of giving a brute shot to one of the elites with a plasma rifle that appeared at 2:49?
i know it wasn't meant to be a pun, but when you said that you might have to hoof it a little, its literal since sangheili have hooves.
It was meant to be a pun
Hokiebird428 really? youve said it before, so i thought you were just saying it out of habit instead of as a joke. interesting!
Having them recorded, and having them saved in the theater are two different things. I have the latter, not the former. But yes, I will be able to make the Halo 3 guide much faster since I already have strategies for every single encounter in the game.
You sir are Incredible, you have made my day. Nice Tips
I ain't afraid of no ghost
For the section at 16:20, I found it much easier if you left one of the jackals alive. Take out the Brutes in the Spectre. Wish there was a difficulty where the beam rifle was an Insta kill for both you and every enemy, except maybe hunters.
fact you will these and many other tactics in your halo 3 legendary guide :D
I like your instructions
😅👍
I am pretty sure the ghost part was meant to be a vehicle section and not one where you get out and snipe or whatever. There are plenty of sections like this throughout the Halo series, idk why you're hating on this part specifically.

I'll agree it's not a well done vehicle section, but it was still meant to be one which explains lack of ammo for guns you may need if you wanted to take a different approach.
"jackals with charged plasma pistols"... "of course if they land the shot, you're fucked"
You sure about that? Plasma Pistols do not stall your vehicle in Halo 2.
+Hokiebird428 Happy Thanksgiving btw, I've completed a lot of Halo 2 on Legendary but there were still some levels that give me trouble (cough gravemind cough) so your walk through on that level and a couple others were very good.
Tim Peters
Glad I could assist you!
0:26 is that bird call ?
Finished with 5 elites. Zealot, spec op and one minor from the start. Took quite a bit of time. Don’t even want to know how many deaths
Man this level feels like heaven after Gravemind
my favorite halo 2 legendary walkthrough hokie :)
Yes, I too, am subscribed to HighSpeedHalo.
that probably explains why halo 3 was the most played halo at 1 billion online sessions and for many other reasons :)
00:47 I was never sure if that "dead" elite was talking
It makes them a total joke, even on Legendary. Most of the time they miss, and when they do hit you, they only strip your shield, unless it was already depleted. No, Halo 3 had it perfect: if they catch you off guard, you're dead, but they're easy to see, and they have only one location where you can always find them.
9:34 So it's just like every other Jackal sniper encounter.
Pretty much.
Hokie I was playing this level once and at about where 7:45 is I hugged the right wall and found a fully loaded fuel rod. Is that for the lower difficulties only? Or was it a little earlier?
What have these brutes done? They have shed our brothers blood, and for that they must die.
Cool seeing a non speedrun of this.
The soundtrack for the opening section is extremely saddening...
Man wish my Xbox didn’t break I would play this again. I don’t have any new consoles so I can’t play the anniversary version either
Bankai3474 you can play halo 2 on the 360
you can play it on pc
Am I seeing things or do berserking brutes toss plasma grenades!? I had no idea they did that if you were in a vehicle lol or maybe they weren't berserking. Hard to tell when I'm on the other side of the canyon trying to snipe with a ghost :-P
Elites are the baws. I try to keep all of them alive at the start of missions and give them the best weapons possible, lol.
@fenix did you use bpks halo 2 guide to beat the game on legendary :-)
Love being the arbiter. I'm more skilled with him, something about the alien makes me focus, plus camo
I love your videos but when you do halo 3, are you going to upload them all at once since you have them all recorded?
Argh over so soon?! 🤣🤣🤣
Love the arrogance of the elites, they're proper nobles.
My problem with taking the ghost from the brute is that the elites always wanna shoot me instead of the bad guys
In halo 4 who is the covnets leaders before the didak
hokie i have 2 last things i want to ask: first in the beginning part of uprising how come u didn't swap out the plasma rifle for a brute shot? second, this is a thought i had last night, in the prison break section on gravemind i want to know ur thoughts if a person uses the brute shot and beam rifle or the carbine and beam rifle on that section? ik the recommended option is duel needelers and carbine but i am just curious.
how can all your allies stay alive mostly and act more or less smart. and all of my allies on legendary just run of to their demise and get killed really fast
fact the power armor of brute chieftains in halo 3 is immune to sticky and spike grenades and needler rounds :)
Revenge is not something you should play for in this game. You should play for honor, courage, and for love.
Ean Rollins this is Spartan 117 Master Chief himself one and only and you are right revenge is like a poison before you know it he could turn you into something ugly you're right
ya the grunt says that but in halo 3 the grunts are with brutes
That's because during the Great Schism the grunts didn't truly pick a side, and just stuck with whatever leaders they had, whether it be elites or brutes. The grunts in Halo 3 belong to the brutes, and even in Halo 2 on the levels Gravemind and High Charity, you can encounter grunts that are led by brutes.
Dose hokie play on computer?
hokie 2 things: first i wanted to say i tried the experiment and i got it done but in the end i ended up with carbine and needlers anyway so beam rifle is utterly useless in the holding area. the second thing is what if u intentially keep ur allies alive up untill the 2nd half of uprising would it be fun then since the elites are in ghosts/the specter if u use it?
Surprisingly, not. The Elites are far too aggressive for their own good even if you can get them into the Ghosts. Usually, I can''t even get them past all the Brute Shots and Jackal Snipers.
Point taken ,well there goes two ideas. Thx hokie I am trying to use ir guide as well as some of my own ideas to make h2 fun if possible on lengendary
Actually its possible (I think you've already tried), but just with way more effort than it worth. First the outdoor area with snipers and bruteshots, then the area that you claimed no fun in it. More than a few dozens of death is needed to get those mindless basters pass those area alive.
6:07 best grunt in the game
23:57 I found the Jackal Snipers Bane 😱
After Halo MCC was announced I've been preparing myself for this campaign on Legendary, however I'm doing it with a coop partner over Xbox Live. Do these walkthroughs still work on Coop?
Maximus probably not, since there are two people, more targets for the A.I. to shoot at, and more firepower against the enemys
“Activate your active camo”
While true, this is neither clever, nor informative. In this mission, you'll get rid of the Sword loooong before it runs out of ammo. Sometimes when you switch away from the sword, you'll just melee them without assassinating them, and they will proceed to turn around and slaughter you with a single punch. The sword is just that extra little bit of insurance that things won't go wrong, and you have plenty of "ammo" for it.
Ok, I’m laying down the challenge right now: try to get at least two of your elite allies (not including the zealot) from the beginning all the way to the spectre and equip them with fuel rod guns.
Accepted. Honestly, not sure I’ll be successful, but if I am, I’ll put the footage in School of Halo 2 Ep 4.
Hokiebird428 Good luck. I went through 20+ deaths/revert to checkpoints and still couldn’t do it.
Ah, nice to see that you are going to finish that series
Hokiebird428 Shall I apologize for issuing you this challenge?
confusedindividual - No need to apologize, but I concede defeat. When a Jackal can kill one of my Elites out of his Ghost with a fucking Plasma Pistol, something is seriously fucked.
Do you like practise and lien try and plan what to do?
I've tried billions of times to save the elites from the beginning but on legendary it simply just doesn't happen. I've given them fuel rod guns, swords and all but the ones in the beginning always go ahead of u and get themselves killed they really aren't worth saving so I wouldn't bother. Like Hokiebird said, arming the elites with the heavy weapons is fun, but u can always accomplish the same thing alone.
fixed the word fail will you be using meta scoring in halo 3 and odst
i see now how much more effort could have been put in level design thank god all that stuff was fixed in halo 3 :)
When will u upload the legendary walkthrough for high charity and the great journey?
Only the end of the campaign is bad. The Brutes were added in waaaayy too late, and the game suffered because of it.
Where you get the needless I jump from that part to the top where the brutes are and kill them I can keep my allies alive
Or really rushed with no time to go back and refine the encounters.
Oh, that makes sense.
