Press Like 👍 to JAASOOOON also, in this playthrough I get a LOT of copyright strikes. I am letting UA-cam mute the copyrighted music, and after that the audio sounds a bit weird. Sorry for that, but a girl gotta eat lol.
Those rain sounds on the intro screen was my first memory/impression on PS3 ❤ I was so amazed by the next gen. I even got an origami figure with the HR edition
I prefer Connor over Jayden. The whole Drug thing made little sense to me. I'd like if they'd give him a solid reason as to why he uses them. Is it necessary to work with the ARI? Or does he have a troubled past? hmm
@LIZZgame I agree. It's not really explained. From context I think you need the drug for the simulation to work? Or maybe it counteracts a side effect from using the simulation? But Conor is definitely the best.
tbh this is a game i could never get into, and i tried, i mean i really tried lol, however, that means i'm really excited to get watch it and experience it with you and your playthrough!
Happy you're playing this. I tried it myself after being a big fan of Detroit, but the controls were just too janky for me to get into it (plus I can't stand motion controls in general). Glad I'll get to at least see the story here though.
Until Dawn gets a Next Gen Update and PC release this December - then we'll play it. Also Uncharted can wait, I want to play other games that get sequels this year!
Everyone complains about the child voice actors, and yes their performance is terrible, but it's not their fault. They literally used children whose first language was not english. Blame the casters, not the poor VAs, who did the best they could.
Oh I really want to see this. I tried to play it years ago but I can’t do QTEs and I found the control scheme too awkward. That was on PS3. I bought it again on PS4 thinking they’d have fixed the controls up a bit… silly me 😂 I really wanted to go back some day and try again so I’ve never watched a playthrough. I think I have to accept after all these years that I’m never going to play it. I’m ok with that now I can watch you play it. I think I quit after repeatedly sliding back down that hill at 1:25:00 😢 it was very frustrating.
The best thing about Heavy Rain is that you have an absolute blast the first time you play it, but the more you replay or rewatch it, the more you notice how weird its writing is. Like the scene with Shaun's dead bird foreshadowing Jason's death and Ethan's unintentionally funny line "there are some things which just have to happen" right before the transition to the mall. It is still exciting to watch! All the chapters are super memorable and I love to see your reactions to everything that happens. Slight spoilers incoming. Lizz is streaming the finale on Twitch already but don't read the rest if you're just watching on UA-cam. There are also story elements that just aren't explained because they were significant in an earlier version but were mostly removed in the final game. For example, Ethan's blackouts were caused by a psychic link between Ethan and the Origami Killer. He had more than one blackout and they were actual playable sequences. This was an important part of Ethan's "Am I the killer?" plot which doesn't make a lot of sense now. Neither does the game ever tell you why Madison suffers from insomnia and nightmares: She was a war correspondent during the Iraq war.
I didn't really want to say anything, because I wouldn't want to sabotage someone's enjoyment of a game while they're playing it, but if she's already finished it, I guess I can add my two cents. tbh I was really hyped for this when I watched the trailer, it seemed like a mature, serious detective game with an engaging story, but I actually ended up DNF-ing it (an FBI detective helping a suspect escape was just _too_ immersion-breaking) and I have really mixed feelings about it looking back. uricksaladbar here on UA-cam has some great videos where he discusses the problems with the plot and themes, and also goes into the incredibly toxic and mysogonistic work environment under the lead developer. urick also compares the game to Disco Elysium, discussing how the latter handles both the detective game genre and writing female characters a whole lot better than HR. Having said that, I might still follow this series, just to see Lizz' reactions and thoughts on all the things that happen and how the game handles them.
@@Coffeepanda294 Many of these problems are still present in Detroit: Become Human, starting with the fact that you get to play two male action heroes - and a female android who just raises a child. Despite taking place in the future, it reproduces a ton of gender stereotypes that weren't even up-to-date when the game was released in 2018. The beginning is also clearly inspired by Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" and the Civic Rights Movement - it even gets as far as to add race-segregated buses - but then does nothing with that and just turns into a Hollywood race war action flick. It completely fails as a sci-fi work and, like Heavy Rain, it gets worse the more you think about it. But it's fun as long as you don't put any thoughts into the game and just go with the action and emotions. David Cage's writing is awful but I really enjoy streams of his games.
I kind of just assumed that Ethan has PTSD due to the loss of Jason and the guilt he feels about his death.. so the Blackouts made somewhat sense to me. What did not are the Orgiami figures in his hand, and why he sees the floating bodies.. With Madisons insomnia - I think folks have that even without horrible or traumatic events happening to them before, I might be wrong. But with the 3 disguised men coming into her flat in her dream, I assumed something happened to her that she hasn't processed yet.
@@LIZZgame There is an official documentary on this called "Heavy Rain: Cutting Room Floor" that has been deleted from UA-cam, but I'll cite Reddit: "Whenever the Origami Killer kills, Ethan gets a supernatural event where he is in a flooded world and has to look for an origami figure to escape. When he finds it, he returns to the normal world but has the figure with him. Since it was cut completely, Ethan's blackouts and how he gets the origami is left unexplained."

You can really see the humble beginnings in Jayden's character that eventually turned into Connor in Detroit become human.

Norman jaden is one of my favourite video game characters, not even sure why

Hope you enjoy it!
LIZZ would make a great mother if not one already. the controls looked like a pain in the butt, but looking forward to part 2

nice!!
I believe this was one of the first games on the PS3 when it released it launched with it i think

the controls are indeed quite janky. But I got through it after all! The story was really worth it!
Jason!

I gotta play the Silent Hill games one day! Looking forward to SH2 Remake
Quantic Dream is a French company located in Paris (I think). They're also located in Canada. This explains why there are so many French names :D

The oldest Quantic Dream game is Omicron - the Nomad Soul. But that's really difficult to play nowadays, was released on Dreamcast and PC.
Shake, shake it, you done already? This cracked me.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Oh no way! I love this game! ^^ I remember being so hype for this game when i was like 14 I was a sucker for cinematic choice based games.

yeah, QTEs can be nasty. Maybe set it to Easy, which simplifies them?
Your game choices for playthroughs are consistently great 🎉 Thank you for the hours of entertainment 🙏
Glad you like them!
you are so sweet 💜
Just passing by, and only want to say hello to you Lizz. Great gameplay video anyway. Cheers Lizz
OOOOOOODRIN! Oh, wrong one... JAAAAASON!
"This game's gonna F* me up" Yes... But those are the best one's.
facts!
@@LIZZgame Well... That depends on how seriously you take the story. Heavy Rain has a "so bad it's good" quality for some people.
Try Indigo prophecy also when u can
I got it, was checking out the controls and the game crashed once and the camera got stuck on the ceiling lol
@@LIZZgame 🥺😆
Their first game is also worth playing. The Nomad Soul has such a unique atmosphere.
The first game I know of them is Fahrenheit. there is ANOTHER one??
@@LIZZgame Yes, The Nomad Soul was their first game (1999). I really liked Fahrenheit too :)
Papa Lizz is losing the kids. Oh no!!!
oof.
8 mins into the game he had a shower THEN went for a pee afterwards! Most people pee in the shower...not realistic
Touch everything with your wiener fingers 😂😂 Washing your hands will be in a dlc I guess
omg, i didn't know this was a big game, thought it was just my little gem i found, in the long long agoes.
