As always, thanks for posting yet another excellent video, Raoul, as your MPC '71 Dodge Demon looks great and it definitely will be another great addition to your Mopar model cars collection!
Great progress. Excellent work on making chassis look a lot better than it is. Crazy they put a 2 piece chassis pan/frame in the impalas, 60’ ford, but not a lot of their iconic muscle cars.👍👍
Thanks 👍. The kits you mentioned, 67 Impala (developed 1997) and 60 Ford Starliner (developed 1999). Those were done when ERTL owned them. Since then it was sold to Racing Champions then renamed RC2 then sold to current owners Round 2. Different company’s and different ways of developing kits. They could but seem to stay closer to copying the design of the original issue kit instead of going full detail.
Shaping up to be another nice build ! i also got lucky and scored a couple of those 3d printed 72'demon grilles, i also learned the mpc 72 'Duster interior is correct for a 72'Demon as well, looking forward to the next update.
Love how this kit’s turning out for you, been working on this one as well the past week or so. With my attempt I cut out the door panels from the tub interior so I could add in stuff like actual window crank handles and the chrome trim I’ve seen in reference photos.
Great call on the rally mirrors. I replaced the plastic pins with finishing nails cut the length. Pistol grips are not normally available on A bodies. But my 72 Duster 340 had it so never say never in the Mopar world.
Thanks! From what I have read that no factory pistol grip shifters from Mopar but some owners modified and added them. Aftermarket ones were available also for a time.
I waited for this kit to be rereleased for almost 30 years. This is my first time building this kit as close to the 1:1 real Screamin' Demon 340 I had in my "HEY~DAYZZZ". I used different Cragar mags for mine and handmade the Lakewood traction bars. I am proud of this build. I bought three of these kits and hope to add more detail on the 2nd build. the 3rd one will be a pro~street build... You have done an excellent job here...
I love the Citron Yella paint and I'm dying to get one of these kits. A gentleman on one of the Facebook pages got one early on, and he did some interesting mods. The first was using the front suspension from the Petty Short track "Kit Car". It was nearly a perfect drop in fit, like it was made for this chassis. He also reshaped the front bumper to alleviate the slightly too-boxy kit part to a more accurate profile.
Hey Raoul! Great videos on the’71 Demon! I have a hint for you to help mount the side view mirrors and it’s basically free. Take old twist ties, strip off the coating and you’re left with the wire core! It’s plenty thick enough and fits nicely between the inner door and the interior tub. You don’t need very large drill bits and I’ve used maybe 2-3 over the years. It also makes pretty cool factory stainless brake and fuel lines! That Citron Yella looks amazing!
Great video. Love the color. This is a nice kit to build I've built several including one with Blown Hemi and a 440. You are correct the A bodies never used the pistol grip shifter.
I see Demons all around me. You guessed it, I bought five Dodge Demon kits and plan to build some and kitbash a couple more. One kit I'm putting together will have a widebody and a Viper V-10 in it.
Kinda but Limelight/Sublime is a 1970 color only FJ5 and just a bit darker. Citron Yella/Curious Yellow is GY3 and 71 only. I believe replaced Sublime!
Those taillights are a real Pia to install. Alos the hood decals are glossy, my friend had the real car, and they were flat black as were the ones on my 69 Roadrunner.
Very Nice Build and video I know some want it perfect like the real one but it will look good with the spoiler that cam with the Kit 🐎Mr. ED Says just have fun modeling
Lookin good Man
Love this color!! This was the color of the Charger in Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry .
I believe it is!

Very cool! I have a 72 Duster and will have to look at it closer.

That paint definitely does not need clear coat. I hope to paint that well someday.🤔 Looking good so far!

Thank you. Enjoy your builds.
Looking great! The paint looks flawless. The chassis, like you said, looks like the driveshaft is a separate piece. Thanks for sharing
Thanks 👍

Thanks. Sounds like a good build.
I do tend to like the over-restored look when there's good detail. Looks awesome!
Thanks!
Really dig the color on this one. 🔥Nice!

Thank you! While I have seen A bodies with pistol grip shifters. I did verify that they didn’t come from the factory that way. Thanks again.
Lookin so cool. Love the "yella"
I like what you did with the tail fin. This Demon is lookin mean!
Thank you!
