You’re the first person who explains things in a way that I can understand, and you get straight to the point. Great video! You have a new subscriber now 🥳
Just wanted to say you have the great how to videos. The pictures are sharp and you do a great step by step! I'm a 74 woman and have worked my own cars in the past but when I got my 2012 Corolla and went to change to spark plugs I was baffled. No spark plug wires. Lol. Your video really made the transition easy. Thanks for such wonderful content!
Dude you really made my day ! Just changed out my spark plugs on my 2013 Toyota Corolla. Thank you so much for this video. I also purchased a 14mm spark plug socket magnet type. 9/16 " is 14mm. I'm learning.. Saved hundreds $$$$$$$..
I think that magnet socket would really help I'm right in the middle of doing a cylinder compression test and I can't get my spark plugs out of my 2014 Corolla I don't know if my socket isn't deep enough or if they're just being stubborn and don't want to come out but I can't seem to get them out I feel like a magnet socket would help... But of course now that I have the car disassembled I don't have a ride to the auto parts store so like I said right in the middle of the job... Waiting on a ride now
I forgot to mention ! I left one spark plug in , while trying to install a new one ! I was getting frustrated at one point , then I realized I only had 3 old plugs ! Now it started getting dark with just my head lamp looked into the cylinder. Wow it's still in there the old one ! Got the last one installed down the road I went for a test drive ! I'm going to get better ! Your video really saved me BIG BUCKS. And they say mechanics charge a $ 100.00 per hour.
Thank you for this helpful video. I don't see a video in your list covering the oil change for this engine, so I'll share this here. When I did mine (2009 Pontiac Vibe) I discovered that not all filter housing removal tools are created equal. Mine was an extremely tight fit. So much so that when I warmed up the engine to drain the oil it caused the housing to expand so I had to give the tool a few taps with the head of my wrench to seat it properly. Comes the time after re-installation to get it off again and the darned thing is stuck on there! Several hours of anxiously waiting for things to cool down enabled me to remove it and restore my sanity. On a positive note: the job itself was easy.
Very handy tip for using a piece of hose/tubing to guide the new plug back into place!
Thank you so much! Your step by step instructions helped me replace my spark plugs and ignition coils on my 2010 Toyota Corolla. I appreciate all of your tips. They were extremely helpful. I hit my knuckles a few times on that piece above it, but saving $$$ was well worth it.
Great video. Changed mine today after 109,000 miles. They looked pretty warm out, with burnt oil residue. Starts and runs great now. 👍👍🤑
Great job, precise and concise! One video suggested using compressed air to blow off this area BEFORE TAKING OUT THE PLUG ! Then he showed two bits of degree that could have been knocked onto the plug hole! I have never seen so much dirt and crap on an engine as was on mine.even a mouse nest so compressed air is the way to go,before I start. Thanks for your vid!
Thanks so much. I've been doing my plugs on older models for decades. I was unsure how to do it on my 2012 Toyota and you gave my the confidence to do it. Thanks.
I just did this on my 2019 corolla the engines are literally identical ,great video helped alot
THIS IS THE NUMBER ONE (BEST) SPARK PLUG REMOVAL VIDEO! GOOD JOB!
This is super easy. I just purchased a 2012 Corolla LE, 5speed . I did my own oil change & filter & spark plugs. Took me under an hour ❤😊
My daughter is bringing her ‘09 Corolla over this weekend for new plugs and tranny fluid, I’ve never done either but this plug video is easy enough for me to teach her. The fluid flush and replace is a little more involved so my neighbor a Toyota mechanic is willing to help with that 👍. I watched a video on the flushing process yesterday and was blown away at the amount of good fluid you have to waste to do a proper flush.
Thanks for the video, pal. That trick with the hose is quite nifty. Can't wait 'till my spark plugs come in the mail! Should be a piece of cake with the help of this video.
Great video. My son had the same problem. Watched your video and the car is running like new.
The hose trick to get the plugs in and out was a brilliant idea. Thanks a lot of this video
Yup, this old lady just did this. Thanks for your video!
Your intro was Priceless. How could I forget that . Should be a commercial..$$$$$ 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
2nd time watching this to replace my spark plugs on a 2012 Ty so much 😅 your the best
Just bought a 2010 corolla after totalling my 2006 VW Jetta 2.0 in a monsoon. Needless to say, with the great fuel efficiency of these corollas, #TOYOTAFOREVER
Piece of advice, keep an eye on the paint on the top and the trunk area..It will rust.Never seen a 2010 etc mine or anyone else's that hasn't started to rust after a few years.Shitty paint job, Also if it starts making a growling noise when you start it,you'll know it when you hear it..Get it looked at immediately
@@cornbread2418 100% right about the paint. I have a black 2010 and its rusting in those exact areas you stated. I love my toyota though. Lol.
@@jaywatts8769 man I like it, I've had it for 11 years and just broke 96k on miles but I'm not paying 800 dollars to get the roof fixed for the rust The car isnt worth anything now days..I've also went through 3 alternators now and my car was bought brand new 2 miles and about 10 recalls, if your passenger side window doesnt work, that's a recall. Also the trunk latch will come loose and you cant open it from the inside
straight to the point, thanks for the video!
very helpful video just the necessary explanation !!! not the bunch of crap the peoples say and get the peoples confused Thank You !!!
Thanks your video made it perfectly clear and the hose trick was a pro tip for sure.
Thanks for this video . I will change the spark plugs of my 2010 Toyota Corolla . I will let you know how it all went , hopefully there will no problem.
Job done everything ok . I bit scary when spark plug socket got stock at the end with first one (a little Panic attack) , then i got the trick. The rubber that holds the plug was really tied , but after the first one i kind of got the trick. Everything OK.
my friend .... you are a really, really good teacher .... wow ! Just found you today ..... great video !
Rock on man! Great helpful vid! Especially with the 5/16 hose
Thank You very much just replaced both spark plug and coil , car works great now!!
thank you for your video. I was able to change my own spark plug! Didn’t know that’s so east to change them. I save myself $200+ .
Great!!! Well done Bundy!!! THANK YOU!
Thank you. I just changed the spark plugs in my 2011 corolla after watching this video. A complete success.
Straight to the work, a million thanks
Right! Way too many guys just blah blah, shut up, show me how to get my car running.
Just curious if you should put a small amount of the dielectric grease on the connector to prevent moisture from corroding the contacts?
Excelente vídeo maestro y bien explicado yo he aprendido gracias a usted y lo bueno que pone títulos en español y se puede leer lo que esta diciendo gracias maestro dios lo bendiga
You are welcome, I will keep putting the subtitles in Spanish! Thanks for watching.
Thank you that was extremely clear
Another great video with useful information and tips. Subscribed sir! Thank you again!
when I put my spark plugs in my 09 Sentra, I used the spark plug socket, but once the plug was lowered into the engine, I turned the socket to loosen the plug slowly and listened and felt for a click, then I started turning to tighten the plug (by hand of course), did that to make sure I didn't cross thread the plug, as I didn't have any hose to use, and that was my only car at the time and I was miles away from any parts stores.
You're like my wife - butter knife is the tool for opening the paint can, gardening, and much much more. I'm sure you have a flat head screwdriver that fits this role even better. I like your technique for getting the spark plug back down there smoothly. It's a detail a lot of youtubers are skipping over. I think it's 15 foot pounds torque if you're trying to this by feel. Years ago the spark plug boxes would describe something like a 1/4 or 1/2 turn after finger tight, so that might be what you're working from.
Thanks that’s absolutely awesome, great video, motor is different from older type motors I’ve done spark plugs on, I was looking at the 4 things at the front of the motor, thought they were the spark plugs ha so different from my old Toyota Corolla, right I’m off to change the plugs 🥳
Thanks Mr. Bundy! V. helpful!!!!
Great Step by Step Video ... Very Well Explained! Thanks! 😎🤘 🔧 💯
Thanks, greatly appreciated.
from nkg
NGK spark plugs feature trivalent plating. This silver or chrome-colored finish on the threads is designed to provide corrosion resistance against moisture and chemicals. The coating also acts as a release agent during spark plug removal. NGK spark plugs are installed at the factory dry, without lubrication or anti-seize.
Anti-seize can act as a lubricant, altering torque values up to 20 percent, increasing the risk of spark plug thread breakage and/or metal shell stretch. Thread breakage can sometimes involve removing the cylinder head for repair. Metal shell stretch changes the heat rating of the spark plug and can result in serious engine damage caused by pre-ignition. Do not use anti-seize or lubricant on NGK spark plugs. It is completely unnecessary and can be detrimental.
Great Video. what is NECs you applied to plug treads? any recommendation please.
thanks fixed a coworkers car tonight in 5 minutes. saved him a bundle.
Wow. My 09 vibe had a bad coil, changed, still low idle at stop sign. Cleaned my MAF sensor still dropping idle. Sooooo , i will attempt to ck my plugs. Great vid with awesome tips. Plain and simple to the point!!! Wish this lady luck!!!💃🙏🏽💫🥂
Clean inside the throttle body and the throttle body plate . When stopped or idling the plate is opened a crack to allow enough air to keep the engine running. Carbon buildup around the edge of the plate will block air causing the idle to drop or cause the car to die out.
Great contrivance, that pipe method!
Thank you for this! 😩🙏🙌🤙
Im back. I got our new used 2012 Toyota Corolla S 1.8l i4. Im really surprised what this little 1.8l can do, zip around fast and freeway speeds easy. The whole car needs to be greased ;) . At least they changed the oil and tranny fluid. 100k on the Plugs. Im sure glad it ain't hard to change. Way easier than my v6 chevy with 3 plugs ya have to get upside down to pull back plugs out. I hated it and always needed help.
This 4 banger I love already !! Granny could defiantly change them.
Could I use a small flat head screwdriver or should I opt for a butter knife?
Whats the gap ratio for spark plug's for a 2010 Toyota Corolla model 1.8 liter
Thx for the video I’m a 51 year old grandma and you right it’s was so easy even I did it whoo hoo!
The MPG on my 2012 Corolla has been way below the figures assumed online. I’ve been getting 20 MPG in the city, and I got tested for a bad alternator at Autozone. There’s only 20,300 miles on my recently used purchased Corolla and it already needs an alternator replaced. Is this common for a bad alternator at this stage and while I need to replace the spark plug or coils at 20k miles? There’s also a slight cracking sound everytime I hit a bump no matter how small it is on the right side and the wheel doesn’t stay stable when hitting the bump at slow speeds either. The cracking noise also happens at very slow speeds, not sure what that could be?
Nice vid liked and subscribed!👍
Great video ! Going too save me $$$$$$$$... Thank you so much for your sharing of this video...
Always check the gap with new spark plugs. Regardless if they're pre-gapped.
This video saved me ty!
I would say you could use a flat head screwdriver or some needle pliers to remove the coil connectors.
Where is the cheapest place I can buy the 5/16 hose? Really helpful video, thanks!
I did not know that. Thank you bro.
Thanks 4 the tips. Now, where did get that beer hose 🤗
I’m new to your channel I own a Corolla thank you for the information I also subscribe to your channel
Excellent Presentation ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks bundysgarage
Thanks youtube.
Together, perfect combination
Haters (auto mechanics) gonna hate. 🤣
That GEICO joke was actually pretty funny.
Very useful Thanks!
thank you!
Good video! 👍🏼 thanks for help
Hello I have Toyota auris 1.3 vvt-i what the size of the spark plug I should buy ??
Nice video btw
cool vid. how often should you change these?
What’s the oem spec for the spark plugs
Thank you.
Does this boost my range for miles? I was at 380 and now Everytime I fill up I get around 356 max of range
sir, what is the ingredient you wiped on the spark plug ?
I didn't hear it well.
GOOD JOB Many thanks
Good teaching.
Does it make a difference if I have a 2012 Corolla S??? Thanks
Awesome, informative video!!!! Thanks!!! Sub'd!
Yo bro what’s the firing order of the sparks on the Toyota ?
Do you know the torque spec on this one? Thank you
Do you have to remove the connector ?
Sorry noob question: What size is your deep socket for the plugs?
i tried to put tissue in the hole, spark plug still in there tho how i get tissue out
Thank you! My car now runs great and the codes are gone.
Nice video! However, it usually says on most NGK spark plugs to not use anti seize right on the box.
Thank for detailed information. Big help. Now do you warm up the engine to operating temperature before removing coil pack ? Thanks
1) Don't use anti seize on the threads; 2) use dielectric grease on the seam between porcelain insulator and metal body in exact same area where you see burnt brown ring on the old plug.
Wow thank you sir
My 9/16 socket doesn't fit in the hole...is that normal??
the best video and very detail thank you very much million thumbs up, where can i buy the hose 5/16? I think the car mechanics who give this video thumbs down
You can also do it with the extension.
If you use 9/16” socket integrated with U-Joint and extension bar, it will be much easier to access spark plug w/o bending plastic caul. This modern socket sell in all auto store such as AutoZone, O’Reilly, Advance, e.t.c.
I was gonna say flathead screwdriver but I guess a butter knife works lmfao.
as for the anti seize... my previous cars i use dab of motor oil or Vaseline. is there a real difference? i have never had a plug lock on me.
I have never used Vaseline on a spark plug but if you use it and you have never had one get stuck. Keep using it!
Hello fellow car enthusiasts!
I’m happy to be here with you all. I hope we can engage in a productive and beneficial conversation, as we dive right into the troubleshooting of a fuel economy issue...
Getting right to it, I’m driving a 2014 Corolla S. With 80,000 miles on it. After much homework I’m coming to conclusions left and right of the 2014 Corolla averaging 40+MPG... I’m only averaging 28.5 MPG?! I’m in the med field, driving only at 3AM or graveyard hours alike.. I travel to and from work each day with no traffic, all freeway, normally 60-65MPH (I’ve lived in the fast lane for many years, that was long enough for me. Please don’t judge me for doing the speed limit! I travel in slow lane, hope that soothes troubled thoughts and wards off unneighborly comments and opinions)
Strictly seeking friendly advice and input here. So what are some areas that could be cause for concern?
1) What do you know about the MAF sensor?
2) What do you know about diagnosing fuel trims?
3) What do you know about tire PSI and the amount of affect it has on MPG? What about A/C?
4) What do you know about the negative affect of misfires?
5) What is an upstream and downstream o2 sensor, does this vehicle have either or?
6) Can the o2 sensors affect mileage without throwing a code/MIL/CEL?
7) Any good spark plugs, is iridium plug really the best choice, why?
8) What is a good air filter?
9) Anything besides DENSO recommended for use on this vehicle?
10) Sick of questions and ready for answers? See the comment section, or please give us your input!
Thank you for being here and thank you for making a difference,

Wow, I never seen sparkplugs with that long of a thread.😮
Yeah crazy!
Thats what she said
Me too ! It was a journey taking them out ... Got it done.
@@bundysgarage Amazing channel, much appreciated for your efforts on the channel.. I have a 2010 but mine does not say vvt on that plastic guard... it just says something like "Dual somethin-somethin"... it's a 1.8L. I have this seemingly mystical "cold start noise" that the 2009-2013's supposedly suffer from. Are you familiar with it?.. Many say the starter is doing it... the bendix hitting the flywheel or something... I replaced starter motor and still have it. Some say it;s the "vvt" and off hand, I do not believe mine has vvt since it's just a regular 1.8L, 4cyl. basic model. I find it suspicious that no one knows anything for sure.. a solution. My Haynes has 2 options for fixing a "grinding noise on startup"... 1) replace starter, and 2) replace flywheel (since maybe damaged). thoughts? much love mate.
(huge thanks and appreciation if you read that)
@@ineedstuff8286 Not sure you will see this two years later... I have that cold start noise too. Did you ever figure it out?
