Something I just want to clarify that I ultimately cut out of this video is that are different types of “pricks of displeasure” as well as levels! And because I think it’s helpful to be able to put a name to things, I’d love it if we could collaborate on a list!

Sensorial discomfort, a lack of clarity, cognitive dissonance/conflicting beliefs, the pressure of perfectionism, if something is new and learning how to do it feels like climbing a mountain, if something is too easy and you’re BORED, you’re just not confident you can, something doesn’t line up with how you identify

Girl, keep making these adhd videos. I feel like finally somebody can understand me and my life right now. I have so much on my plate but i keep procrastinating on it and scroll through insta all the time. I have big dreams but it gives me anxiety and i end up with nothing because of it. Hiiii love, thank you so much. Trust me I relate to that SO much, I spent yearsssss paralyzed by anxiety and fear of making the wrong decision. I started this channel 4 years ago and I think I JUST hit 20 videos because for years I overthought every single thing! I feel like sometimes the bigger our dreams are the more scared we are of chasing them but as I learn to really think through that fear, I’m able to let it fall away you know? And I feel like I’m FINALLY going somewhere with this channel because I’m poking holes in all the little cognitive dissonances I’m finding buried in my psyche

Haha of course! ISN’T IT THE WORST? I’ve wondered if tall people have the same problem, but also I think it just doesn’t bother some people as much lol… I’ve tried taking my top off before washing my face but then I’m cold, and that’s worse lol. My friend sent me a link to a headband the other day that came with little “sweatbands” kinda, except they’re for preventing water from running down your arms while washing your face! I might check it out but like I said in another comment, I think I’m gonna start using a clean but damp towel to rinse because that’s what aestheticians do when you go in for a facial!

Haha I feel that! Also, I ranted about this in the video but then cut it for brevity but besides shower, we can clean our faces with towels! I mean, times I’ve gone to get a facial, my aesthetician has never made me stand over a sink lol, right? She uses cleanser obviously but then wipes my face down with a clean but damp towel! If it’s good enough for my aesthetician, it’s good enough for me lol. So days I don’t wanna shower at night either, THAT is the other solution haha :) Good to see you here again

I have no problem doing the task of washing my face because I have acne and it's so rewarding seeing it become better that the problem of my whole top getting soaked with water is miniscule compared to the reward. When it comes to lotion, I am very bad at moisturising my whole body but I got better with my hands because I keep one lotion on my nightstand and one on my bathroom sink so everytime I either wash my hands or go to bed at night, its a guarantee that I will remember to moisturise my hands at least once a day. I might need to adopt the lotion in the shower method too.

for more like readings: i love to write my opinions in the margins of readings? like i’ll make jokes or be like woohooo agreed in the margins sdkfhlskfsd so that makes it fun
also from my friend: if you hate the reading start heckling the author sdflskdhfsdkf it’s so funny to just tear them to shreds in the margins
for writing: personally i like just writing my thoughts out on the page? like i will drop every little word up here on the page….it kinda looks like a mess 😭 BUT i find it really helps with like a flow of ideas and i usually find inspiration that way? it’s just a record of your thought stream with no filter (i can give some examples)
for science: i’m a chemistry major so lol i love love love making metaphors and games out of my notes. i also draw sparkles and stars all over them and similar to writing, a lot of my notes will have my opinions through them like “this concept is so annoying” “i’m tired” “i could go for some food rn” so that they’re no longer taking up space in your head
      - tip from friend again: if you have a notepad you can write it down and put the notepad away
for math? : hmmmm i don’t have much i do have physics tips? with that i turn each problem into a little story dfklhskhfslkf

I honestly can’t tell you guys how much joy it gives me to see you talking to each other and helping each other in this comment section, honestly I love you guys🥰 but I’m gonna be real with you, I didn’t really do a whole lot of studying in school lol, it was too hard for me to sit and make myself do something I didn’t wanna do like that. Probably the ONLY form of studying I ever did was make flash cards, which I do think is effective for the types of things that require rote memorization… definitions or like .. idk the periodic table lol? But tbh I could not just sit and study them alone at a table… BORING! And very little feedback. If I had a friend in the class (or just someone who also needed a study buddy), I would have them do the flash cards with me… like the hold up one side and I have to repeat what’s on the other, and there’s something about them being like “YES, correct!” Or “WRONGGGG” that makes it fun lol. And if I didn’t have someone to do that with, I would HAVE TO study them on the go in snack-size increments, like waiting for a bus or a train or something. Keep them in my bag and review for a few minutes while I’m waiting for my coffee. And I didn’t do this back then but if I could go back knowing what I know now, I would listen to “lectures” on the go. For example, if I were taking a science class and what I learned in the actual class wasn’t clicking and/or sticking , I would go on UA-cam, and find someone explaining the same concepts, and I would listen to it while going on a scenic walk, because again being on the move and taking in something of interest is bearable while sitting to study with a textbook fills me with dread lol.

Me: Why can't I just get up from bed and [do whatever I needed to do]?
My brain: Feet cold, bed warm.
Me: Seriously? I'll just put some socks or slippers on.
My brain: NO! Socks and slippers bad sensory.
Me: Okay, how about I designate a pair of sneakers specifically for indoor use?
My brain: ... 'aight, I'll allow it.
So now I can actually get out of bed and like /make my frickin' breakfast/ or something.

    • @daniellecolada
      @daniellecolada  10 місяців тому

Hi Soumya! Well first, I am very sorry to hear about all that, I’ve faced down a few depressive episodes of my own this life, and I know how much it tires you out and just makes doing what you need to do to try and pull yourself out of it even harder… I just want to say first and foremost that I don’t know your life, I can never know from afar exactly what you’re going through or what the dynamic is with your family and how that affects you. That being said, I just want to tell you that you are SO young! And I remember that 17 was a really tough age for me because I was in school and I was supposed to be getting ready to go to college and I hadn’t even applied because I had so much anxiety about making the right decision of where to go and what to study and I ended not going to college until I was 25!!! And I’ll tell you what, it was SUCH a blessing, but I couldn’t have known how my life would turn out until I looked back at it. Obviously you have the issues in your personal life, but I’d be willing to bet that much of your exhaustion and paralyzation is around this feeling of being overwhelmed with all that’s going on AND feeling like you’re at that age where you have to start having everything all mapped out. I guess I would say a few things - one being that you cannot control what your parents and your ex do/have done. I believe people must let themselves feel that pain but then begin to let it go. I know it’s so hard but if you can feel those feelings in your body and locate them… feel it… say out if you must… cry if you must…imagine them as tentacles reaching out to you (maybe this just works for me) and cut them away from you…. And that hopefully will help you reclaim a bit of your personal power and agency… and then recognize you have to begin to do the things that are good for you, like studying! I would do it in focused, short sprints so that it’s not overwhelming… I liked to make flash cards and take them on a walk as I reviewed them because I hated being forced to sit at my desk… and begin moving forward if you can. And do these things knowing… NO MATTER WHAT… you are going to be okay! Don’t put pressure on yourself to study in some “perfect” way, and know that if you don’t get the perfect grades you wanted on your exams… IT’S OKAY! You were at a really tough spot in life and you did your best… and maybe you worry it affects the school you end up getting to next…. Well, in my personal belief, your life was supposed to unfold at a different school, and you can never know these things… you have to just play the game of life and an engaged way, sincerely, but you can’t be so attached to what happens at the end… whether you take a perceived “win” or a perceived “loss” … and ironically when you let go of that outcome you can truly be free to take the risks you need to succeed… if you fall short.. it’s just redirecting your life to where you ought to be

Hahaha LOVE THIS TRICK! But actually I feel you on that because getting into the shower has ALSO been a pain point for me in the past! After making this video the other day I realized that being cold is actually a huge reason why I avoid A LOT of things lolol but at my parents old house, the downstairs floor where my room and bathroom were was WAAAAAY colder than the rest of the house and it got to the point I would avoid the shower for days at a time and it was literally THAT moment of taking off my clothes and being FREEZING before getting into the shower. I realized I had to do something about it lol so I bought s mini space heater off amazon for like $20 and an hour before I wanted to shower, I would put the space heater on in the bathroom so that by the time I wanted to shower it was sooooo warm and then I stopped having that problem!

There's 50% chances you're gonna be known as a "productivity youtuber" and 50% that you'll be "bathrobe youtuber". Just saying! Lmao! I dunno why YT didn't notify me AS SOON as you posted thiiiis???? Wth, @youtube? I'm about to sue.

Anyway, with that off my chest. Yes! I've found out that I sometimes have ideas in our heads that are plain wrong but they end up not letting us do the things we want/need to do. Like, since I believe X requires Y, if I don't get Y perfectly, then why should I even try doing X? It's like how I grew up as a perfectionist stopped me from doing so many things just because I needed to plan something out a bit more, or learn that OTHER skill, or be better at this or that. Long story short, I never did any of those things and now I regret it! I literally feel like I lost 10 years of learning, growing, doing stuff just because an erroneus though I had. Bummer. Sad. Imma go cry now. Thanks.

Lolol I had that thought about the robe haha! But I tell ya man, sometimes I’m fresh out the shower before I film these things and I just cannot be bothered. Maybe I should make it a shtick lol. And I knowwwww right, UA-cam be bugging! And I FEEL that, I was JUST telling someone else that this channel is more than 4 years old at this point and it has barely any videos because i let myself be paralyzed by cognitive indecision and limiting beliefs but really examining them makes it so I can poke holes in them and then they like fall away almost. Still a work in progress but I can tell I’m doing much better lol. IT’S NEVER TOO LATE! And LOOOOOL that was good😂
