The Hardest Art of Defense (C&C Generals zero hour)

- Arbitrary opinion of course....but if you know of a map more difficult that this, by all means correct me. The computer script utilized for this epic....attempt...was set to medium, not brutal. Given the obscene number of enemies on screen the game's software can only provide at best 25fps and it is seldom at in meeting said criteria. I also recall that lag was a major factor owing to the time I played this. But the only real complaint I have is that this map will---without exception---lose synchronicity of troop movements in any replay saved, and thus deceptively account all player actions as null after a certain random threshold. You can see this with idling dozers throughout the game. In either sense, though, I have beaten this map many times on the 'Airforce General' A.I. Script (of which all replays I have saved also became corrupted) To be fair, however, I have never beaten this map on the script setting shown here....

I wish Generals & Zero hour were just remastered engine wise, slight up on textures, childhood game, keep coming back to it. Always gets me the feelings, A strategy game that wasn't overthinked, casual and legendary. Best strategy game ever.

There's something gloriously apocalyptic about having to fight off an assault so desperately overwhelming that you're firing tactical nuclear weapons directly into your own front line *just to buy yourself a few more seconds of time* and it still isn't enough.

This sort of mode should be made into a tower defense game.
Unlike regular tower defense, you have access to an entire military arsenal to hold off an enemy invasion and a must defend against as many survival waves as you can.

good evening, i have a problem running GZH, it says please make sure you have DirectX 8.1 or higher installed, also verify that your video card meets the minimum requirements. i tried every posiable way i found on youtube to fix the problem but still same error pops againg when ever i try to run the game. any solution plz ? thank yoy.

open that and find resolution screen..change it to max or lower resolution on support monitor, i have PC with 1980x1080 and try it on other PC but it return error because max resolution is 1600x900 thus i change it to 1600x900 and it open like a charm..good luck..

I am not sure what you mean by 'contra'. Is that a ZH mod? I do not know the compatibility of these maps with certain mods if it is. However, if this is not the case, and if you are being 'defeated' on game start, that usually indicates that the AI script has not initiated properly. Be sure to set your team to team #1 and the AI to team #2. Place the AI on the top of the map and only select USA or USA Airforce General as the enemy AI. All other choices will result in error.
Yes contra is a zh mod and i figured out the problem...incase u r playing contra mod, change enemy team to usa cybernetics generals...if u played contra ud know..ty
What about other player's game crashes? When I play with so many units on the map my game or game of the other plyers crashes.

the map opens fine but no enemies show up. i have put 1 enemy in medium but no other enemy shows up...have i missed out something? im playing solo btw... when i put 1 enemy, an msg shows error twice and the big logo of 'you are defeated' shows up and then it disappears and i can control things just fine.
In order to get the script to work you MUST place the enemy at the TOP of the map. The enemy has to be USA or USA Airforce General. All other choices will result in the AI script not executing properly. Also, make sure your team is team #1 and the AI is team #2.

I think a team of laser (great defense) and infantry and demolition (just use those bikes) can win this
laser and infantry will do the defensing and those motorbikes will attack
I don't think laser and infantry alone can handle nuke cannons battering their defenses
@@sanstheskeleton679 If you have airplanes at the defense then yes. I think a variety of different generals would have made this easier such as Air, Superweapon, Infantry, Tank and Laser exept for toxic and stealth general.

+DeadTime This is how---Pick easy, medium, or hard mode for AI. AI MUST be USA or USA AIRFORCE. Make AI Team #2, and any human players Team#1. Put AI on TOP of map. Start game. There is more information in the readme I attached to the file.

Why are the big cannons on this map to begin with?
Capturing the cannons are pretty much a waste of time, not to mention space and don't do much against the enemy because of how slow they are at firing and turning.

Didn't anyone think using the superweapon general was a good idea, I mean she just has emp patriots which are the best for taking out vehicles and she just has aurora alphas which have the fuel air bomb which decimates hordes of ground units...
EMP patriots do less damage and yeah they do shut down the tanks....But given the amount of ground army that the enemy had it would have been nearly impossible for EMP Patriots to do anything....Same reason for Alpha Auroras...
Hence, only defence could have saved us... Also have you thought how would SW General tackle those many helixes and other air stuff??? EMP's suck at countering them I think
EMP shuts off aircraft with 1 hit, but some are immune to it (generally the big airships from General Powers) - to which EMP will deal very little damage.
I still feel like EMP would've been a good choice, since you can kill off Helixes very quickly, but you'd of course need to spread your EMPs and take defense from someone else, otherwise nothing will die on your side.
But Aurora Alphas are expensive and will probably die the moment they drop their payload.

The disabled tanks would block off the other tanks behind from advancing, giving nuke cannons or scud launchers enough prep time to decimate the enemy forces
EMP one-shots aircraft other than the big planes

Extract with WinRAR program. Copy map files to (usually) My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data\Maps. Make sure you put the 'generals' and 'zero hour' maps in their own respective categories.

USA Superweapon EMP patriots could help a bit
Two of them should have chosen superweapon general, two should have chosen infantry and the rest should have chosen Air general.

@@SilverScarletSpider No but i think infantry general would be a better choice for building defense because its faster and cheaper but also effective in large number because of the fire rate from the soldiers and how many of them you can store in a bunker or transport vehicle.
