Tragic due to copyright we are deprived of another Ken Russell gem. There was no one like him. Kubrick was a genius but not a Romantic given to Russell's excess. How did he get into what surely was the minds of the great figures he re-imagined for audiences of the 20th C. A man I'd invite to that "imaginary" dinner party all art lovers dream of throwing. Namaste
Ben. Thank you! Ancient Mariner -- the Coleridge -- is one of my absolute Ken favourites. So agonisingly hard to find. (Romantic Poetry & its link to the esoteric mysteries & technologies of Creativity are not something we can trust is being taught or shared any more -- How can we allow these films & the Lake poets -- their beauty & wisdom, their music -- to become a thing of indifference to modern civ? I'd love to see these found & restored. [And no, Romantic Poetry is not "about the opiates," for anyone who happens to stumble upon this. Different world and sensibilities.} -- Ken's missus
Please share this as the house is near derelict and ive been told that the house is in not only a bad state but in the hands of cowboys - the guardian piece was wrong. please do help to raise awareness to save this important piece of history . ua-cam.com/video/CSXlKmtStVY/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for showing us a fraction of these films. I love Ken Russell's work and. I've wanted to see these for ten years but nothing, From this brief clip it's better than I imagined, one of his masterpieces. Thank you
The two short movies (about 50' each) were broadcast also by Italian television (Rai) in a translated version. There is one copy of each in Milan Public Library (Sormani) on video-tape. They are both very beautiful, but the first one, about Coleridge is a sort of masterpiece, because joins perfectly the poem and the life of the poet. I'm looking for it too since years and years!
It was a long time ago seems to be languishing somewhere a lost masterpiece. I might buy a copy if it were available. the poetry and the scenery were beautiful and the loose biography.
