  • Hey Guys, Welcome back to Lush Aqua! In this video, I show you how I made Goat Heart Mix for my Discus Fish at home using natural and nutritive ingredients.
    .
    I have shown you the entire process, ingredients and quantities used to make this fish food in this video.
    .
    GHM provides a good source of nutrition to Discus Fish and helps hobbyists grow out their fish faster and healthier. Please Note: Frequent water-changes and siphoning of the aquarium should be done while feeding foods like GHM.
    .

    Fish Food
    Optional:

    Spinach
    Shrimp/Krill
    .
    My Current Routine:
    Water Change: 50% Daily
    Food: GHM, THM, Frozen Artemia, Hikari Bio Gold and Hikari Vibra Bites.
    Tank Dimension: 36×18×15 (l×h×b) .

    Nice presentation. Is that mixer device from Borosil brand? Is the VAQUARIA brand for freeze dried Turkey heart mix good for discus?

      Some of the ingredients would make your yellow fish orangish. So best to not feed this to Yellow strains, if you follow the recipe😃

    then is that food keep again in Deep fridge or we can keep it out side of the fridge at the dry place..?

      Hi Tushar,
      The reason we make the GHM flat in the last step is so we can break pieces off while feeding. The rest of the GHM would have to be kept in the freezer again. Always avoid feeding your fish homemade food for more than a month, because the nutritive value of the meat reduces with time.

    Nice informative video....does it makes the water cloudy?

    • @LushAquaIndia
      @LushAquaIndia  3 роки тому

      Hey Partha! To be honest, it does not make the water cloudy but it does spread all around (Discus are messy). So I would suggest feeding smaller quantities so they finish everything and do regular water changes (as any frozen food would require)😃

    Hi, do we need to crush vibrabite with food or should we add it in end without crush? How much approx vibra bite you used for 250gm plain heart?

    • @LushAquaIndia
      @LushAquaIndia  2 роки тому

      It would be better if you powdered the VibraBites before you add it to the GHM. The quantity will depend on the binding...so keep adding more till the GHM is not solid enough for the fish to comfortably eat.

    Hey dude I recently changed my discus food from tetra bits to hikari biogold and vibra bits but the discus are not as greedy as they used to be they don't greedily attack the food they do eat but it's very slow and small portions. I have ordered some garlic gaurd too so that I can try soaking them first. But wanted to take your suggestion first.

    • @saahilsingh6218

      I used to feed tubifex worms too but I heard about the bad quality Environmental from where they are harvested hence stopped.

    • @LushAquaIndia
      @LushAquaIndia  3 роки тому

      Hey Saahil! As I mentioned in the video, Discus are finicky fish! They get used to a single food quickly and stop eating other types of food or eat it with disinterest. You can try keeping them hungry (Continue water changes though, to keep their metabolism going), or instead of waiting for Garlic Guard, you could just use the juice from a smashed garlic on the pellets and they should accept it.

    • @LushAquaIndia
      @LushAquaIndia  3 роки тому

      Ahh Tubifex😵I wouldn't recommend or try it on any of my Fish. I don't even taken a chance with Bloodworms!

    The easy way to remove fat is to cut it into 2/3 pcs, removing heavy fats, while buying and to keep it in freezer overnight. Next day take pcs one at a time, chip out the fat content easily and cut it into small. It's easy

    Are heart really required for discus. Can't you use natural live foods like chopped earth worms,black worms and varieties of dry fish food.

    • @LushAquaIndia
      @LushAquaIndia  2 роки тому

      Hi Dr. Ganesan, in my opinion, availability should also be taken into conderation while choosing food for Discus or any fish. If you choose to feed your Discus live blackworms or earthworms as their staple diet, you would always have to keep a culture of worms ready, plus sometimes if Discus are fed a specific food for a long time, they stop accepting other types of food. Discus lovers usually feed heart mixes to provide a stable and consistent high protein diet which is needed to achieve accelerated growth. While you could grow out your Discus on pellets too, but the growth is considerably slower.
