Oss Braa = what he is explaning here is that the particular move in heian sandan can also be interpreted as a throwing technique. In my opinion the turaround to the final two movements can also be interpreted as throwing techniques. I will check my judo book for the names of the corresponding judo throw and let you know. Greetings from South Africa
@@braachan1310 OK.. for the technique he is using you can have a look at O Osoto Gari. The othwr throw I mentioned = when you do the oi zuki before turning around for the last 2 movements (with hook punches over the shoulder and elbow strike to the body) = the oi zuki can be grabbing the opponents forearm, turn around, move in and get your arm around the neck (hook punch) and pull opponents arm in towards your body (empi uchi to the back) and do a hip throw = see O Goshi. Working the neck/head is easier than grabbing around the body. The last 2 movements of bassai dacan also be interpreted as a throw = see tai otoshi. Interesting stuff, enjoy experimenting. Basic judo throws helped me plenty with kumite and bunkai. Oss
I love karate, I from in American south, and I no understand, if you can do subtitles in Spanish or English I understand you. But the kicks no traductor, this is very important
Thanks for sharing the video. Sensei I think your videos are watched worldwide, and unfortunately all don't understand Japanese, so please transcribe in English so that we also benefit from your research and teaching. Arigato Sensei 🙏
For me, the question is that all this work is against oi suki fron a long distance. What happens wren the oponnent don't do a step ahead (ayumi) or y have to react closer. Have I the time to block and counter. It is the way you train the same the way you fight? For instance, if a Myke Tysson approach you fast and hook you close quarters, how do tou deal with? If karate is for self defence, we must answer this.
How convenient would it be if all attackers came at you with a useless oi zuki from a mile away and stood still with the other hand on the hip while they let you do whatever you want!
Not really the point here Bro = he is giving very valuable information and it need not be an oi zuki = it can be a grab for your jacket, hook punch = the application will be the same. If you want to reason this way then I guess it will make rifle training on a shooting range popping static targets just as useless...
@@zommellemmoz3999 Thank you. It's funny to hear hear these folks, a lot of whom probably have never trained in anything, or trained in a bad school become experts overnight. As a traditional man myself I too believe it's important to learn and understand the principles.of more hands on training. That doesn't mean the traditional applications wouldn't work. Of course they will. They'd work just fine against the common attacker, and in the mean time, if you can pick up boxing, or muay Thai, or bjj, or whatever's popping in mma, it can help traditional karateka understand how to turn ppl inside out. Let's just train. Less lecturing. Just train.
I think un oi suki is as useless as any other technik when applied without criteria. But I agree that training only against long distance oi suki is not valid.

Interesting video however I was more impressed that the JKA were finally practicing BO Kata too.
Naka Sensei - have you been to Fukuoka and trained with Shobayshi Kenshinkai Shorin Ryu under Yoshitaka / Nakano? do you have any videos????
Oss, I'm a karate a member of KWF from Africa , and I'm really asking for a translation for this video , Oss

This guy is awesome!
So it's more of a low kick than a sweep.
Like a sith lord would say "good".
