Seeing Leland pick up Lee makes me pretty happy. Stylish, high skill ceiling, and closer to Mid Tier than High, less gimmicky and more honest than Hwoarang. It's honestly the perfect pick for him. His combo extensions and hit confirms need work though. Mark and Leland both still haven't learned Tekken movement yet and are little too dependent on their typical flowchart kind of play style. But I do think that Leland does attempt to change it up more. He visibly reacts and adapts to things not working a lot faster than Mark.
Youre right, Phi said in his first tape study of RDC that Lee was more of a natural than mark but that mark had the better grasp of combos. This session just shows the few more hours of play Lee has than Mark under the same teaching since Lee always has just a bit more free time than mark.

Mark is like Goku, who constantly levels up and gets better. Also usually the best out of the group in fighting games. Lee is vegeta, trains harder than goku (mark). End up surpassing him for a brief time until ultimately getting surpassed by him again. Dyl is Gohan. Has the potential to be the best fighter, but doesn't take trying seriously constantly. For example, Dyl is this good with legit 2 moves lol. If he took it seriously and learned more moves he is a legit problem. Like how gohan got SSJ2 and gave ig a rest training wise

If Leland adds some b2 -> iWS 1,2s loops to his combos and practices Lee's just frames he's going to be solid! He's got good fundamentals to build on top of!
As great as this sounds, as Lee is one of my mains, iWS is too much of an high skill level I can't see Leland picking up unfortunately. He has yet to master movement and fundamentals, although his punishment game is pretty decent. Im currently Flame Ruler and I still cant get it consistently with hours of practice, player match and ranked put in. But here's hoping his improvement continues! 🤞
@@nichhenry8740 I too have been a Avid Lee Main since 4, and i can confirm this! somedays I can hit mist step loops consistently for a few hours and then the next I can’t get a single combo without doing more than two reps LOL iWS is a bit easier to get down I believe and I can get it done here 98% of the time

I just picked up Lee in T8 myself (since Eliza has like no chance of coming back....rip) and I've got his just frames and iWS moves down after playing him almost exclusively for around 200 hrs. You could practice iWS consistency by just doing Mist Step (f->N) and then doing a Sway (after Mist Step: b->N) followed by the WS move you want to do! You have to delay the back input until you see him actually go down for the Mist Step and make sure not to hold back otherwise he'll just stand up normally rather than go into Sway. If you can successfully get him to do Mist Step -> Sway without standing up then you've got the rhythm. You can input any button but 4 (which is the only one that has an actual move out of Sway) in that transition between Mist Step and Sway and it'll always be an iWS move! With that down it's easy to transfer that learning to b2->mist step-> sway cancel -> iWS 1,2 -> etc. I'd also suggest practicing all of his more timing based attacks (iWS, acid rain, just frames) with the game volume down so you can actually hear your inputs and see if you're getting the results you want. Was your input fast? Try it a little slower and vice versa. If it's still not clicking listen to the rhythm from the tutorial and try to emulate it exactly. I will say that I'm also a musician so maybe that makes this stuff easier for me but I do think anyone can learn how to do it consistently with proper practice! (Emphasis on proper though)

Another tip about iWS for anyone that may read this, I turned off the music so I can listen to audio ques. When Lee goes into Mist Step, you can hear a "swoosh" sound after he does it. You can also hear it going into sway, meaning if you do Mist into Sway, you should hear two "swooshes". My trick is after Lee does mist and the animation is complete and I hear the swoosh, immediately press back into whatever WS options you like. As long as you don't hear the second "swoosh" when you press for Sway, you should be able to land it

Yup that tournament went almost EXACTLY like I thought it would. Afro is not on Mark, Dylan, and Leland's level. He's not built for Tekken like RDC. After what I saw though if those three keep practicing they can and will 100% beat Lotus. Lotus might seem _really good_ from a _casual's perspective_ but in reality RDC is way closer to him in skill than someone who probably doesn't even play Tekken thinks. That man is not even Tekken God rank. Lol he's well within reach and I think RDC's overall Tekken potential is insane.

Yup that tournament went almost EXACTLY like I thought it would. Afro is not on Mark, Dylan, and Leland's level. He's not built for Tekken like RDC. After what I saw though if those three keep practicing they can and will 100% beat Lotus. Lotus might seem _really good_ from a _casual's perspective_ but in reality RDC is way closer to him in skill than someone who probably doesn't even play Tekken thinks. That man is not even Tekken God rank. Lol he's well within reach and I think RDC's overall Tekken potential is insane.
