- In today's episode, I visit Midway Island in the middle of the Pacific. Home to over 3 million birds and tons of relics from WW2, this trip was unlike any other.
This vid meets my curiosity about this lonely island in Pacific ocean. What surprises me are those birds everywhere, which aren't afraid of human beings. Very interesting vlog to me. Thanks for posting.
@chenamee9584 thanks for the comment! It was very fun going to such a remote location and the birds are completely unphased. Probably because they outnumber people a few hundred thousand to 1.
@@chenamee9584 really truth.l ve experience like u.
Thanks for posting
@@uscustoms05 Thank you for watching!
I was in the island in 1971, for several days, while serving aboard a small ship USS Reclaimer ARS 42, bound to and from Vietnam. It was, of course very different then, but did have that laidback feeling about it. Several buddies and I attempted to circumvent the island on foot, beginning from the pier. We did have water, snacks, some hash, pipe and lighter, so we only made it half way. We decided to take a short cut and ran across the runway near the beach, when, halfway across, noticing a transport coming in for landing. We did get noticed and picked up, transported back to the ship…smh still, loved the hike, beautiful sky, water, land convergence and of course, the comradery. Wouldn’t trade the experience. Thanks for your video posting, it was a great positive affirmation of the vibes there 👍
@TheJimford Thank you your wonderful story! I always try to imagine what it was like in years passed, and your story helps fill in the spots. Thank you for your service.
I ve stayed in 2:32 this place in 1992 & 1993
I am a new friend from philippines connecting you dear friend done fullwatch❤
Is the birds main reason why DOD won't reclaim the islands for military purposes? 😮
The Department of Interior controls the island now, and I don't think it will ever go back. Plus, there are other islands to use for that (Guam, Wake, etc.)
@HawaiiFoodTravel I think about all the infrastructure that is in place that wouldn't take much to reuse. Would save millions of dollars instead of doing other islands & counties in the Pacific Islands. DOD has abandoned many military bases that could be used again even in America 🇺🇸.
