When it comes to investigative journalism I rank with the likes of John Allan namu, Mohamed Ali and your narration is just like that of Paul nabiswa and kudos to your video editing you are going far bro.
Whenever the artist is high up they get all the praises to themselves. When the artist goes down, all the blame is channelled to the label and producer. Don Jazzy once said that once you sign an artist, you have automatically signed them plus all their problems and family's problems so it's not a cheap venture and artists may not understand why the label would take up to 50% of their total earnings. The term "I was used to source for funds" is misunderstood. In the corporate world, workers and employees are made to speak on camera for testimonials, it's normal but artists lack the basics of business and brand building. Another mistake artists make is compare our industry to the Americans and West African scenes. But also, why do Kenyan labels sign so many artists? Sol Generation downscaling from 7 to 2 was hard but all worth it. Look into Kaka Empire and how Timmy went on TV to say his brand is too big to be signed by another brand, Arrow Bwoy did the same then later launched his own label I'm not sure where Utembe World is at the moment. Bottom line is artists aren't ready for the bureaucracy that happens in organizational systems. Wanadhani kuhit ndio kila kitu wanavimba alafu kinawaramba.
This record label and its founder reminds me of one of the biggest record labels of the 90s in the US called Death Row Records owned by Suge Knight, that closed shop and the founder is now incarcerated. The name you give your brand determines its destiny.
Kali good work brother 👏 always following up since you started & i see you're on the righ path 😃 this is going to be one of the biggest channel. 🔥 bigup
Actually am on Visita's side on this one. He used to produce all the beats but was never paid enough for an artist, let alone a producer. All those hirs were strong because of the beats. Without Visita (sound engineer), the label would've never held up. Visita was a legendary producer, rapper and singer. The others were just riding the wave
Grandpa ended when Visita left. The studio was under facilitated and rarely a label. There were no equipment worth 1.5 Million there. I don't think any artists even signed a contract.
Around 2019 the lebel's management was struggling with keeping their producers. within a month you would realize that about 3 producers had been hired and left already
Ref nkt I danced kwa video mbili na zingine Nikakuwa vixen nikiact and he promised he will connect me in the acting industry but zero😢😢😢. Kidis na everlast dancers ni mimi wa kuwapaka makeup then boom no payments Sitaki kuchoma sana but ref was and is not a good person. Anyway wacha nijikaze na channel yangu Mungu yuko
Grandpa records held auditions in Nakuru and i was among the people who won and we were gonna be part of fimbo la Tatu. Unfortunately Rafigah chose to go with already famous celebs at the time and i suppose it was a good song but we were never informed. Shock on us 😂😂 I also did a song with Wyre, Dna and Visita for world cup but it never made it ig? Idk man. My experience there was short but Rafigah was nice to me so idk what happened with these other guys 🤷🏽♀️
Grandpa Records,Ogopa Dj,Homeboyz productions had no expertise to build and manage artists..unless the artists were smart and talented.E-Sir was one artist who did it great and Ogopa pushed him he had even major international deals in the early 2000s bruh..no label will take money from their pockets to build artist they want to make money from that artist and the artist is broke..so everyone wants to eat and the cake is little, and no one wants to build the other up. .
