    One weakness I see in a lot of characters the community considers weak is the "useless +1".
    There are a lot of scenarios that leave you +1 and close enough for your 4f move to hit, but not close enough to convert from that 4f if it actually hits, or even counterhits. I had this issue with Rashid when he came out, and I've seen a lot of it when playing Ryu recently. You basically get to jab-check the opponent into nothing, unless you're willing to gamble 3 Drive bars on the jab hitting. Otherwise, you are simply not in range for your CH confirm to work. It's kinda wack when you see the kinds of +1-frametrap conversions that better characters have, like Cammy getting jabs into 2MP, or Ken getting jabs into 2MK. These are 4f jabs that counterhit convert into normals that are basically guaranteed to be in range, always. It's kind of an obscure power difference, but it's an important one.

      Yeah, that's what he means. On a numpad, 2 would be down. So 2MP is Down MP, or crMP.

      ​@@user-wy1et9dk9w I think it originates from Anime fighters, possibly because they were more likely to be played on PC for a certain time? The directions correspond to an ordinary keyboard numpad. 2 is straight down, 5 is neutral (no directions), etc. There are times when it's a lot easier to write with and I think it translates better across different franchises.
      But I still have to whip out an imaginary keyboard whenever I read 623.

    Yes that sums it up nicely.
    When I was playing around with AKI in training, her normals looked so nice, I was hopeful for that st HP the most. But then I started testing her buttons vs DI and DR and well, saying I was disappointed is an understatement.
    The universal mechanics in this game are too strong for someone to willingly pick a character that has lots of trouble getting around said mechanics. You didn't even mention it but perfect parrying her firebally ensures a drive rush punish from pretty far away. Perfect parrying most of her normals will always ensure a good punish due to how big her hurtboxes and recovery frames are.
    I'm sorry to say this but she feels like Twelve. A character that struggles against the game itself to win, so its not even a match-up exclusive problem that she has, she has problems with the system mechanics working against all of her tools. So while she isn't completely useless due to what you said in your earlier video, we should bear in mind that while her pressure game is strong by itself, it is vulnerable to parry and DI. I don't see a situation where AKI could be considered a mid tier, I'll have to take Daigo's side here.

      Fang was maybe mid tier tbh. To me he actually had incredibly simple options at my skill level anyway. I feel like his simplicity would only be amplified at high levels of play. Mono Pr for example, was a very good Fang main placing 2nd in cpt I think. Not to mention being the one of the biggest knowledge check characters making the matchup even tougher. Dude was solid-ish

    i might be wrong, and i haven't tested it- but i seem to remember from the trailers that the post fireball whip thing wasn't supposed to be a mixup tool, but was designed with the intent to make the bubble pop- largely to catch bad jump in attempts. Mostly there to serve her slow fireball speed, not to help her pressure

    The reason i think aki is left -2 on her frame trap is because it becomes a punish only if the opponent is already poisoned which hurts her mor than helps

    So i guess this is why some japanese players have issues with AKI. Her offense is good, but her defence against universal mechanics is weak and inconsistent. Since all characters have access to said mechanics, it means there will always be a way for someone to steal the round from AKI.

    Those hurt boxes are huge, I thought I had bad timing I had no idea they were THAT big in addition to the recovery frames. I just learned today my whip is hittable:( I should just wave a big "hit me" flag.
    That being said each of these characters have a style of fighting with a rhythm. Aki is the snake. Play like a snake, wait, shimmy, and when within reach strike, strike retreat, reset. Can't let the panic button win, I loose so many rounds this way:/ I need more practice and to cleanup my inputs since I am a bit sloppy.
    I played Manon like this for a while, ballerina dancing around using her speed and reach to gracefully move up close, then when in range and all cozy, I judo their butt like a bad date:) Her moves become a bit redundant and bland after a while since her mix ups start to feel like reruns, but not Aki :)

    I wonder if poison was supposed to drain drive gauge at certain point in the design. All her absolutely atrocious frame data makes more sense if she was constantly putting people on burnout to get more advantage out of it.

    I feel if you have to say "they aren't bad compared to the better characters", that still sort of highlights the flaws even further. Because it isn't like she's in idk, sf3 or something, she has to deal with these characters lol. It should've been a 7 reasons video to add how bad her cr.lp is, and how unreliable her anti-airs can be.

      I swear the vertical whip has a mind of its own as to what it will and will not hit, tho I suspect a lot of that again comes down to hurt boxes seemingly being all over the show.

    She’s a mess, just like Zangief. They both don’t play the way SF6 wants you to. They are also super fun, and that’s why I use them, tiers be damned.

      I feel the same way with Lily, It's frustrating as hell at times (And I'm a salt machine) but there's something appealing about being the oddball underdog. Time has been kind to Lily though her drive rush is one of the most fun yet fair in the game her options are sneaky good.

    I agree, A.K.I is playing season 2 while some of the cast are still enjoying their (once a year) pre-patch season.
    I hope the top tiers gets the same (hurt-boxes/recovery/active hits/Plus-frames) treatment as Aki.

    I really really got triggered when at round start to get around spin knuckle I used her light version of the whip and the Cammy just counter hit from full screen. Wtf is this character?

      Imo certain moves should actually be disjoints in SF. Like sure, you can whiff punish Dhalsim's arm and hit him, but in SF you could hit someone's weapon and they'll take damage

    you forgot to mention that her raw drive rush normals on block arent that stellar, aside from fwd HK (that can bevdrive impacted) and the only way to kerp the pressure going from those DR normals is cr jab that… sometimes doesnt even reach

      Her c.lp's reach is pathetic, with other characters after blocking their strings i could counter jab to take back my turn or interrupt for a counter hit combo. But with AKI she would freaking whiff alot of times. Its so frustrating given how bad AKI is at opening up opponent's defense because she can't cancel off a low normal, and they also made her c.lp suck at fishing for counter hits because of the terrible range.

      ​@@skychaos87My other issue with her 2LP is that even on hit the pushback is so strong you can push someone out of the third hit of your target combo and even 2 hits into say 214HP often leads to whiff (sometimes just one with a lil too much of a gap) which is.. tiresome 💀

      You have to hard read with the sinister slide and on reaction venomous fang if you see Luke's fireball. However, it only work on Luke cause his projectile is fast and will whiff AKI's V fang. It doesn't work against other slow moving fireballs since Vfang doesn't have projectile invincibility.

    As a mid casual player and an A.K.I. main… the gameplay for me is very mixed and confusing. I get a lot of perfects, but I also get perfected a lot too😭😭😭 Her corner combos deals huge damage, and her design is superb.

    Honestly, the change I think that would really help her pressure game while also fitting the poison theme is that toxic blossom procs break armor. Once she has you poisoned, DI is no longer an option. Her fireball combo enders have a mix up to beat DI, and she gains some actual options vs armored moved in general. I'd like a couple things for her but this seems like a good place to start

      @@HellecticMojo that shouldnt present an issue. You can play passively if you get poisoned, DR her to escape pressure, or attempt reversals etc. Then she is back to being abhorrently weak to DI.

      @@Luchamasterfit No. you reached too far trying to make blossom break armor. She has multiple ways to trigger blossom while every other character need specific callouts. DI needs to be a callout answered by other big callout, not just some basic pressure and confirms.
      If they implement what you are suggesting then she can never be buffed ever for being a character that completely invalidate a universal mechanic.

      @@HellecticMojo she isnt completely invalidating it, she's gaining an advantageous state against it during her two stage offense, to make up for the fact that she is sufficiently disadvantaged against it in the first stage of said offense. She already suffers around the universal mechanics having weak drive checks, weak neutral DR offensive situations, and no reversal to counter DR. It seems perfectly fine that she can put herself into a state that gives her the edge on this plane and forces the enemy into assessing the risk reward of trying to knock off the poison or play passively to run it out

    I don't think the hanging-man frametraps are what chaser is for, I think it's more for catching people trying to inch around the fireball in neutral and for directly punishing attempted DIs through EX fireball (as opposed to skedaddling with EX slide cancel), and I'd personally like to see it be better at those. AKI has tools to earn spaced fireballs with frame advantage that kind of make it unnecessary as a way to catch mashing, and I'd rather see those improved (like stMP and crMP as mentioned, pls capcom i beg of ye).

    I'm glad you said that last part at the end. Everyone I see saying how trash she is always ends their statement with "But then JP and Ken just exist". Well yeah, she's weak compared to the two strongest characters in the game...as is most of the roster. That isn't really a fair comparison. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying you can't compare her to some of what they can do but if that's all your argument is, that she isn't as strong as the strongest characters in the game, then I feel you don't understand what makes the characters unique and are just following what everyone else is saying without really knowing what you're talking about.

    AKI's crouching medium punch has more range than it looks like from the single frame because of the way she twists her body forward, compared to Luke and Guile who punch without moving at all, but other than that, yeah, it's not a particularly impressive move, to say the least.

    I feel jinrai being so much better than aki's fireball interactions is more a case of ken being strong rather than aki being weak, although I feel the way they nerf jinrai is just less pushback so you dont get as big a punish as drive rush punsihes that AKI's is kinda forced to have to make it punishable because of the pushback.

      The core problem with ken isn't his special strengths, it's the fact that he's very well rounded while having those special strengths (same with Jp)

    other issues -
    poison bloom is only used by 1 special (hp lash) midscreen without meter or pc. or hp tc. in corner 2 (hp/mp lash) or coward crouch punch move in juggles.
    damage midscreen no poison bloom sucks. only special to poison mid combo can only be cancled from 2 of 15 button options (buttons/down buttons/ uniques) 5hk or 2mp without meter or pc. most common comboes leads to +4 end forcing 2lp into hp lash. 6hk, cck, oh.
    anti airs are janky.
    poison has a timer on them.
    fb seemed good but no varying speeds means easy pp.
    defense is basically non existent. os her od slide plus pc damage AND doesnt hit. loses to 1/2 options in corner that leads to repeat scenario. tech beats throw by pushing throw for space - loses to meaty and neutral jump. block loses to throw plus keep getting pressured. od slide loses to light attack os or fast reaction, side switches beats meaty and jump button (non os) but leaves you negative frame WITHOUT having hit them. theres no offence fear as worst case she escapes with u unharmed.

    that's not a "disjointed hitbox" (on luke & guile)... it's just a very nice privileged long ranged hitbox. For it to be "disjointed" it can't be "jointed" to the hurtbox... pretty common sense innit?

    I haven't looked at the differences in hitboxes so that genuinely is ... A "choice" by the developers 😢.
    Though I will say that Aki does have some counters to DI on special cancel callout! She can L cruel fate or stance command throw as ways beat DI. Only prob with those are that the risk reward feels pretty bad if you guess wrong on their DI attempt. L fate will leave you safe but minus OB in grab range. And stance command throw loses to delay jab OS. Can't wait for the patch! 😂

      Hilariously, simply entering Sinsiter Slide makes DI whiff right over you on at least a couple characters. Found out by happy accident but I've kept it in mind ever since. When in doubt, just lie down lmao

    I don't believe her 2MP is designed to do the same as the "standard" 2MPs in the game. I just don't think she was designed with a "standard" 2MP in mind at all. It's definitely a downside not having a "normal" 2MP. Her 2MP is more like Marisa's in design. They're both slower and further range cancelable pokes. And for AKI it allows for better combo extensions than her other cancelable medium, 5MP.
    So yes, her 2MP isn't going to compare to most others. Also when looking at disjoints, you should've looked at AKI's actual disjoints. Her 5MK, 5HP and 6HP are all great disjoints. 5MK is a good poke, 5HP is a hit confirmable KD + poison that turned into a launcher with poison on, so it's a pretty good tool in neutral. And her 6HP is a far range poke with good hitboxes and somewhat hit confirmable into Supers as well.
    Being weak to DI in neutral due to lack of cancelability is a weakness she shares with DJ, yeah.

      Chun Li has some bs hit/hurt box like Luke and JP. If anything, there should be a 10 reasons why Chun Li is stronger than you think video lol. There is a low player base for Chun Li but more and more Chun Li are making it far into the tournaments. More pros are starting to rank Chun Li at S tier now.

    I am not going to go into detail about how this is wrong, but this character is very strong. People are using her completely wrong. She will win a major. Even some of the best players are using her wrong. My win rate with AKI is ridiculous, I completely demolish Ken, Ryu, Sim and Gief with her but for the life of me Blanka is a problem. She is a Ken killer for sure.
