Yeah cause they are funko pops. Would be weird kf they were randomly stuffed animals or full sized action figures. When I collect shit I want it to be immediate and obvious they all belong to the same collection.
Because that’s basically the art style. Like how all Lego figures look the same or all action figures. The style is you start off with the bland blank figure and start adding and working around that. If they all looked different you couldn’t tell that they are related figures
The one time I actually bought a funkopop was about 4 years ago, I walked into a GameStop, spent my money, came home, opened the box, held this hunk of plastic in my hand in silence for about a minute straight before audibly asking myself, “Why did I buy this?”

MOST of them are the same model, but they all have different features for the character (collecter here, I have autism and collecting makes me happy) If he’s willng to spend the money, then it’s his money. It’s not like hes going to hold you at gunpoint and force you to buy one. The unique ones (dinosaurs, special poses, etc) are all really cool to find. If you have extra money, they’re fun to get as just a little treat for your hyperfixation! (where i am, at most, they cost 15$ and at lowest 5$)
I get that thos is a jpke but even the ones that look similar has an argument. Artists use something called bases for art sometimes. Its basically a blank character in a pose that the artist draws on top of. We can use the same thing here and say that some more common pops use a base and are built from that. There's nothing wrong with that, and it actually makes sense production wise to be able to use the same mold multiple times.
I mean, isn't it exactly the charm of funko pops? They all look similar enough so they can be from any character from any franchise but still look like they belong in the same collection?

I mean the only question i have for funko pop collectors is "why?" Not because i don't understand the fun of collecting, but funko pops have always seemed like the modern beanie babies. Because I see a lot of collectors just put them inside their boxes their whole life, which doesn't seem to be the norm in figure collection and adjacent hobbies where collectors would proudly display their collections out of box. or maybe it's like Fortnite where the sheer amount of franchises it collabs with makes it almost impossible for someone to not be at least interested?
