    Gwen, I truly appreciate that you took the time to respond to everyone who shared their concerns. It really comes down to everyone has to make their own decisions about how/where to purchase craft supplies. I’m on a fixed income and need to save wherever I can. Thank you for your honest comparisons… now everyone just needs to make the CHOICE THAT’S RIGHT FOR THEM. Again, thanks.

It's all about sharing what we know with our creative friends right! We all have different circumstances and experiences and the 'right' choice 100% needs to be made for each of us in our own unique way. xo So glad you found my video and the discussion here helpful. 🌷

    I am so glad to see a review which shows these products as comparable and with prices that allow the average person to own a comprehensive set of supplies. I am really tired of hearing "stamping snobs" saying that every thing form these other companies is "rubbish". I have been using products from Aliexpress for years and have now purchased a lot of stuff from Temu. I have never had an issue with their crafting supplies. I am so glad that we no longer need to be held to ransom by the major craft companies. I bet the stamps and dies come out of the same factories in China and it would be interesting to know what their workers get paid for producing these stamp and die sets in comparison to what the major craft companies are charging for them.

      Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this Glenda. I can't see why it has to be one or the other, why can't we mix and match supplies from big brands with these alternatives. I'm not cool at all with stealing designs and intellectual property, BUT where that is not a factor why not have cheaper alternatives. There is a place for it all I say! We have it at the supermarket for sugar and flour etc why not in the crafting world? Agree too that many, many of our supplies come from China so I'm not 100% sure what some of the who-ha is about in that regard.

    Us Aussies pay far too much for everything but especially craft supplies. If I only shop from the big brands I’d only be able to purchase items like once a year. We don’t even have Dollar Stores like the US, we have The Reject shop lol the name itself is telling and the prices aren’t even that cheap 🙄 Americans have so many more options in my opinion. Even though I don’t want to shop from Temu and places like that sometimes we have no better options, it’s sad how things are getting so expensive everyday. This was such a useful video. Thank you for your excellent side by side comparisons. I have purchased twice now from Temu -mostly die cuts and a few stamps and have been very satisfied with the quality. Honestly the prices are very hard to beat or resist. While I like supporting my home country suppliers and will continue to do so in certain cases, I know they have to mark up the cost to survive their overhead costs. Temu prices are just so appealing for what you get. I love die cutting and they have gotten significantly pricier in the last few years. Seeing the quality of these other supplies you purchased I am gratified to know they are a good deal for the quality. Also they ship fast like Amazon and while they come from China they ship fast for international shipping.

    Temu has really good deals. Their prices are incredible....but the sl@ve labor is why our en3my sells for so cheap. I havent tried them b/c of the reason the stuff is so cheap; but the US & other countries have been sending our stuff overseas for assembly for years. WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYBODY? If we would manufacture in our own countries, we would not be so dependant on a c0mmunist country that hates us all! The one thing that hasn't been mentioned is the material the stamps are made from. Silicone. Photopolymer is much more expensive. Silicone is cheap and does not age well. It does not take ink well. I used to buy from Aliexpress before I knew they were selling stolen designs. The stamps were always a huge disappointment. Could never get a good image. Dies did not always match. Some of the standalone dies did not cut well but many did. After finding stolen designs I stopped buying from them. I ended up tossing all the stamp/die sets as they were bad quality. I will not buy craft supplies from Temu but that is my personal choice. I think buying tools on Temu is not a bad idea. It seems like when one company comes out with a new blending brush or sticky mat, every other company follows suit and comes out with their own version. But copying an actual stamp set is just wrong. Would you buy something stolen from someone off the street? It's the same thing. You are buying a stolen item. To each his own. I did like your comparison of the tools.

    • @CreatedByGwen
      @CreatedByGwen  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts Patrica, I totally agree. I would never want to purchase a stolen design and I have seen that the 'copy' is generally speaking much lower in quality. I found these stamps to be fine, having said that, they have not stood the test of time so it will be interesting to see just how long they last. I appreciate you sharing your experience here for us all to learn from. 🌷🌷🌷

      I understand the stamp problem. I have left silicone stamps attached to an acrylic block for a long time & then couldn't remove the stamp. The stamp melted into the block destroying the surface if the block & the stamp had to be picked off in pieces.
      These weren't ebay/ali express/ wish stamps & blocks. These were name brand & came from Michael's/ Joann's/Hobby Lobby.
      A few of the acrylic blocks were from Michael's old dollar bins but not all. I tossed all the dollar items, hoping to stop losing supplies.. most recent stamp to fall apart was brand name.

    I've used Temu a fair few times - it's pretty good for what it is, but I did want to let you know that the stamps you bought *are* designs stolen from a designer. You can pretty much tell by the quality of the images - if they show nice photos of finished products, they've stolen the design.
    If you use reverse image search you can find them by looking at the "image source" but it takes some time. I did this and still bought some of the stamps and dies anyway, because they are designs that are 10 years old and can't be purchased any where else anymore, but the ones you've shown here are from 2021 and are still available for sale (or at least some of them are).
    For example, the "Lotus Flower" is actually papertreyink's "Lush Bloom" stamp set. "Lots of Hearts" is actually by Stampin' Up. "English Letters" is Birch Press's Happy Lingo stamp set.

    • @CreatedByGwen
      @CreatedByGwen  Рік тому +1

      Oh my gosh, I had no idea... I really thought I'd chosen ones that were not exact copies of a design and things that were generic enough not to be, like the hearts. 😢 I hadn't thought to 'reverse image search' the sample image or even that the 'good' images might be clues pointing to stolen designs. You're so clever to think of doing that, I so wish I had known that sooner. Thank you so much for suggesting it here so we can all do that and avoid these products. 💔

      @@CreatedByGwen I only started to realise it when I was wondering why some had such great images and then some didn't. And some I saw even have the original designers branding in the photos! Temu is just the marketplace connecting sellers and consumers - we do our best to only permit sellers with positive reviews and verified items." I have a mixture of branded & unbranded craft items in my craft stash
    Although I haven't purchased from Temu, I have bought stamps/dies/blender brushes/embossing folders & much more from Ebay & amazon from China & they are excellent quality
    Alot of the China companies have branded die/stamp set copies at a fraction of the price
    I make cards for a living, so it does keep down the cost a little more, as it isn't the cheapest of hobbies
    We do have a few companies here in the Uk that sell branded items (Altenew, Pink Fresh, Waffle Flower etc) but it become expensive when you want Simon Says Stamp, certainly with the shipping

      Hey there... I actually have not had any issue with any of the dies working through my Sizzix Foldaway machine. Try finding supplies that are actually manufactured here. Secondly, I cannot afford to pay the outrageous prices of designer brands all the time. I have ordered craft items from Temu many times, and have given much thought to the issues of buying from China. I have not had any problems with quality. I’m a little confused and disturbed - you keep comparing how identical the Temu items are to the more expensive ones, and you seem to want them to be identical if possible. But doesn’t that mean they have just ripped off the design from the other companies? Is that okay with you?

    • @CreatedByGwen
      @CreatedByGwen  Рік тому +4

      Hey Marjorie, the reason I'm looking at how identical they are is because this video is a direct comparison. I 100% hear what you are saying in terms of intellectual property and design images etc and do not support the direct copying of artists designs. I have already said that in MANY of my videos including the TEMU sponsored content. If we are talking about the plastic case of an alcohol marker or a wooden handle and bristles of an ink blending brush, that for me is totally different. There is a very good reason this video does not include images and designs that are ripped off from the big brands. I don't buy those and I don't support that.

    • @Faithful10415
      @Faithful10415 Рік тому +2

      I have seen this too. I work in an Engineering R&D department and we know that China is known for their copying of designs and intellectual property piracy. It is nigh impossible to bring a lawsuit against them and fight it legally. Most companies don’t have the bandwidth or the money to haul this through a legal system. We only file patents in certain countries where we know the legal system supports patent rights. It would be interesting to know what the original stamp and die companies think about Temu and their pricing. There is no getting around the fact that pricing is substantially higher in the US or Australia or the UK for example. The reasons for that are varied. I would like to understand how these companies justify their pricing and how they protect their designs. And what they think of these copycat products.

    • @CreatedByGwen
      @CreatedByGwen  Рік тому +4

      @@Faithful10415 It's definitely a conversation worth having, I know here in Australia even if you wanted to manufacture a bunch of craft supplies there just isn't' anyone to do it at a price that is even close to competitive. What's even more interesting to me is that many of the big brands are manufactured in China. So my question is, if TEMU can produce these things at comparable quality for this kind of price, why can't a brand like American Crafts get them to us at a more reasonable price? Maybe I'm totally missing something, in fact I'm sure I am, it's something I'm keen to do more research on and learn more about for sure! I feel the best I can do is support the big designers by NOT buying knock offs of their actual designs and make savings on things like tape, brushes and other basic supplies. To me, that feels fair and reasonable, but it's a choice we all have to make for ourselves.

    • @Faithful10415
      @Faithful10415 Рік тому +2

      @@CreatedByGwen yes I agree. Things like cases and paint brushes and markers fall into a very broad category. There are certain things that are so generic you can’t make a unique claim on them to patent or someone else has gotten there first. When I see something on Temu that I know is very very close to a similar design I have seen from one of our beloved stamp companies I pass. It’s a fine line to determine how unique a design is though. That’s why patent lawyers get paid the big bucks. To painstakingly research to see if the claim exists somewhere else and find even any subtle nuance of difference or similarity that would either prevent or allow a design to be copyrighted.

      Hey Tina, Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I do appreciate them and I agree in part to what you are saying. I actually think both of these kinds of business can exist. Think about the supermarket, even in the same set of shelves we find basic brands and name brands, if it works there, why can't it work for craft supplies. It doesn't have to be small business OR big business, there is room for us all and both can offer different products and experiences. I personally put a lot of pride into giving personalised service to all of my customers and have invested a bunch into supporting Aussie scrapbooking business, retreats etc where I can (even when my support was more than CUT to YOU made that month). I very purposefully did not feature or accept products that to me were known copies of others designs, I have spoken about that in previous videos as well. I don't want to use products that are copies of others creative work, but I do want to save on tools, glue and tape. It's a personal decision that we all get to make. @CreatedByGwen - If websites like Temu actually made an effort to combat the stealing of intellectual property, I might agree. However, efforts to combat the problem appear to go unresolved. The crafting companies in the US that I support are mostly small, mom & pop shops with small profit margins and no resources to spend in the never-ending attempts to reign in the hundreds, if not thousands of sellers that are blatantly stealing not just product designs but the examples of projects made with those products. Buying ANYTHING from such a website only encourages the bootleggers who know they face zero consequences. So, for me, it's not worth it. If I can't buy it legitimately, then I'll do without.

    So Temu sponsored the video and *gasp* surprise, surprise: their products are judged by you to be great? So much for an honest review. Give me a break.

      That's the thing with opinions Margaret, everyone gets one 🌸 I think you'll find plenty of reviews that are not sponsored that come to the same conclusion, but that's ok, I appreciate you and thanks for popping by today! xo

      No worries lovely! I totally understand. This video is actually a really old one, I don't shop TEMU anymore, I'm surprised you came across it actually.

    Temu = plastic, plastic, plastic... not to mention the carbon footprint. Unbelievable that people keep buying from places like this and AliExpress.

      Here in Australia there has been a big push towards reducing plastic waste, we even now have legislation against the use of plastic straws. I wish there was less packaging plastic in EVERY single store.... have you been to Aldi?? It's crazy!! The issue of plastic and carbon footprint affects all stores, not just TEMU.

    Im new to your channel. I’ve started using the TEMU app to start purchasing my arts/craft supplies. The prices are so much more affordable, I wonder why; WHATS UP? I, too, am going to compare my purchases, as I’m into many art mediums.
    You definitely created a very well versed video. I’ll definitely keep watching. And, I may ask some needed questions. 🫶🏻
