Hi! This video is very useful, I can learning a lot about it. But I have a doubt, how are the measurements of high streamflow with ADCP? They are reliable?
Sorry for delay, great point you make as at higher flood flows this method can struggle. So you could use this StreamPro device for small to medium rivers and then use the RiverPro, or larger ADCP version, for the higher large river flow applications. These are used for all major rivers around the world but the times when you can't use them is when the sediment load or surface velocities are so high that the acoustic sound waves won't penetrate the water column and reach the bottom or bed of the river. GPS and Section by Section method helps with this but at some stage the gauging becomes impossible or impractical! Hope this helps.
Hello, I am using this equipment for my fieldwork and I want a system with which I can move it automatically with a machine at a uniform rate. Thank you so much for the video, please share your email so that I contact you. Would you mind mentioning the name of that remote-controlled device with which you are moving the ADCP?
We call it the 'Traveller' and you can purchase them from NIWA Instrument Systems by contacting: stuart.escott@niwa.co.nz There are also other devices called the 'cable chimp' which do this and possibly better - google it. Thanks and good luck making great measurements.
Thank you for your time and effort! Great informative video!
How to get cross section data means depth vs distance for further analysis from pro stream adcp

Very good video. where we can find the transec motor ?
We sale them through our Instrument Centre in Christchurch - the contact person for this is Stu Escott:
stu.escott@niwa.co.nz
Regards - Evan.
NIWA e-Learning Thank you, i wish you to have a good day. Stéphane
Hi! Just used this instrument today, and I would LOVE to talk to you.
No problem Rebecca, your welcome, where are you and when do you want to call?
Rebecca, you still need any help? Email me if you wish: evan.baddock@niwa.co.nz
