I think associated is killing it with the Rival product and especially with the value. For just $50 more than the Sledge, you can get both the MT8 and the MT10.
The mt8 is like a larger 10th scale and the mt10 is more like a 12th scale. I still wouldnt buy the sledge at its high price

I was looking foward to getting the MT8, having seen a few videos of it running now. I wont be bothering with getting one anymore, simply not what I am looking for in a truck with its short wheelbase.
Did you see size comparison with the Maxx? Beast Mode RC did a short and it's the same size as the Maxx. So in reality it's better suited to 4s than 6s. Not what I was expecting either but as a 4s basher competing with the Maxx V2 and Sketer it would probably hold up very well.
I feel the same I wanted a longer wheel base truck. I thought it wa going to be one but it’s more like a outcast which I have already. So I think I also hold off on this one this time
Yeah I really was hoping for a full size 1/8 scale truck my self , not a fan of the short wheel base trucks .
Can l say get Sledge instead.
@@uan588 Not at the price they are asking for on the Sledge, simply not worth that sort of money.
The tires on that rig are holding it back.
I bet some backflip LP's would do good on that rig.

Very fast on 4s. Also with it being smaller than an Arrma 6s it is probably better suited to 4s anyway. 48mph is more than fast enough for bashing. IMP this competes with The Sketer and Maxx V2 not an Arrma Notorious or Traxxas Sledge, it''s too small. Funny that the MT10 is smaller than most of the other 3s RCs like the Granite and Big Rock. Maybe TAs scale ruler is different to the other brands 😋😋
The MT10 was small like a Stampede but this is the MT8, though
@Matthew Hayslett My MT10 handles great for a Monster Truck but my Arrma Typhon 6s (on 4s) is a beast that handles great and is tough as nails, with steel diffs 😀 I had tons of issues with my Arrma 3s cars but not my 6s Typhon.
Team associated is like a “budget” rc brand. Also owned by horizon hobby doesn’t make sense, they should have made it a proper 6s rc car with kraton size.
@@isaiahprice4050 I don't think they (Team Associated) are owned by Horizon. They don't use Spectrum electronics and they put center diffs in their 3s rigs 😄😄😄
Thanks JayTee. Unbiased and true as usual. I was hoping for a MT10 performance on steriods and this seems more like a Redcat Kaiju original, reincarnated. Unfortunately in the wait for this, the Traxxas sledge dropped and caught my attention. Because of fine vids like yours and others that keep it real, I think I will spring for the Traxxas to compete with my Kraton as this won't hang(I refuse all that power and no stability-backflips!). Not totally knocking is as Associated is very high in my book and My MT10 is still in my top 5. Hope they try again- maybe pull a Sledge and dup' the Kraton!!! JS! - RG

Had a mt4 g3 thunder tiger very similar 5s was the sweet spot
Ya honestly on 3S this thing would be great for a kid. I don't think most parents wanna spend that kind of money though. I still think the best option for a starter for kids is the Arrma 1/10th 3S Lineup. Much less expensive and even a hair faster than this truck on 4S. And of course you can simply limit the throttle or put in a 2S or even a NiMh if you want. This truck would be a good option though if you wanna go straight into 1/8 scale. Seems like a really good value and plenty tough.

Was going to buy the Kaiju, but to what I'm seeing is that this is fundamentally similar to a Kaiju, just laid out better. Would love to see this on 5S! Feel like that might be the perfect match of power, and stability.

Got mine today. Thanks again for the heads up on that Tiny Adventures RC sale. 👊🏼 Man, imo, this is a 4s truck. Ha. Haven’t gotten to run it yet, but the soft tires and stout springs make me think 63 will be a bit much for me while it’s stock!

Took it for a spin! 4s in the back yard at night. The headlights are actually really good. What a fun little truck!
FYI: both top and bottom screws on the C’s were loose. Had to remove wheels etc and tighten.

Most people seem to be getting 30 plus on 2s and 45 mph on 3s. But they say the motor runs hot, I didn’t realise it could be run on 4s etc

@Matthew Hayslett Redcat RER13336 sway bar kit is rumored to fit the MT8. I just got my MT8 but haven't run it yet to see if I feel the need to order the sway bars.

Nice little truck. I may pick this up for my next truck. I burned down my senton today 🔥. The battery blew and ecu and I couldn't catch it in time.

I am surprised anyone would get such a big truck (or expensive this one run $500) for a kid. The MT10 is much more kid friendly and easier to afford($300 ish) but I love the Team Associated trucks.
Seems like out of box, the orange and blue leads are mix-matched on this vehicle. Should they be matching up?

Those tires are just way too soft for SSS. You need some belted road crushers on that bad boy

I have his truck coming soon and I wanted know what would be the best tires to replace the stock ones? Also would it be better to get a heat sink and dual fan set up.
Either put a heatsink on the motor or use the fan that comes on the Redcat EXT. As far as tires are concerned are you talkin on road or off?

@@kevinrogers8352 I'm going to try with a couple different tires I got tomorrow and try to post a video. The kraton tires are pretty good on it in general but you can never go wrong with like some Badlands from Pro-Line

I would swap out to something belted on the tires, and add a bit of weight to the front end, to help keep it down.
I will in the future but have to run a stock out the box first

I would try 3s. 2s may be too little power and over strain the Lipo. I think you can try 2s but what the Lipo temps and how he drives

Iam told these mt8s are just a clone of the redcat kaiju when i look at the chassie there is not much difference
Massively over geared. Pretty disappointed. It should be geared for 55-59 on 6s not 72mph :/
