- First haha! Yes I realize the “S A” is actually supposed to be “A S”. It’s 3am!
These are my thoughts on the rumor that kingDa Ka is leaving us at the end of the 2025 season.
I’m not buying it but you never know.
First haha! Yes I realize the “S A” is actually supposed to be “A S”. It’s 3am!
Banged this together with not enough coffee! Thanks for watching.
Ha ha that's why I went back to sleep and missed the Siren's Curse announcement at 5am and didn't have a video until 630am.
I'm pretty sure this exact same rumor just spread around for Top Thrill 2. Same fake screenshot of a "leaked" website.
The TT2 screenshot was an RCJ meme making fun of the Ka leak, it doesn't prove anything regarding the Ka removal rumours.
@@ElectriKong- honestly sounds about right
I believe both of these rumors about both strata coaster getting removed are 100% not true at all because they’re iconic attractions to both Cedar Point and Six Flags Great Adventure.
SixFlags will reimagine Ka just hope its not Zamped 😂
Well, lets see if Zamperla can get TTD2 right on the 2nd or 3rd try.
Let's hope they use the ORIGINAL manufacturer to fix it up.
The problem is that the train simply can't handle the stresses of running at those speeds and resulting G forces,it doesn't really matter what company designed the trains when the materials that make up the components are being stressed to the limits of what the available material can withstand.
Sure the smaller scale intamin accelerator coasters such as the original prototype at KBF can tolerate the stresses because the ride is running at a much slower speed but when you then scale the design up to much larger proportions doing so simply increases the stress on the components that make up the individual trains...especially the wheel assemblies.
Both of these specific installations have been plagued with mechanical problems from day one and in the end it would be better for the two parks to cut their losses and replace these rides with something more reliable instead of continuing to waste time and money trying to fix them.
I work at great adventure, according to the crew its having a bunch of hydraulic failures. They say “ka is tired” which I believe because of all the downtime its been having recently.
Do you think it’s getting removed
I’ve heard it’s been running better the last couple years, ran great when I was there last summer
I work there as well, I've been hearing that its running a lot better than it did over the past few years.
Probably because it’s boosted basically every ride now.
I literally saw Ka shoot 5 trains in under 3 minutes one time.
I hope KingDaKa has many more years of thrills to give, such a fantastic ride.
I could not agree more. A hydraulic stratacoaster. The only one in the world and it's here in the U.S. I adore the original Dragster and KK.
I like your longer videos. But I also watch pretty much all UA-cam videos at 2x speed
That is a good point about X2 -- REQUIRING custom-made parts if any repairs are needed, yet Six Flags have still kept it going. Hopefully Kingda Ka can stick around a bit longer 🤞
@@alkankondo89 I hope so!
X2 is trash, havent ridden it in probably 3-5 years, been to MM countless times in that span..
@@joshfreund6008glass bones paper skin
@@lyingdogfacedponysoldier201 well put!
We havent ridden it yet. Looks like were going there next year! Just in case
same 100%
Well said Ryan, I work at great adventure at El Toro and since they were made by the same manufacturer they do experience similar down time reasons. Kingda Ka is far more reliable than it ever has been before and I hope it stays for much longer. Hoping to get the chance to be trained there next season so I can learn more about it.
@@vrryan6 yea. Rides can be a pain for a bit even a treat or two but not worth ripping it out especially with the drop ride attached.
I will literally be devastated when Knotts announces Xcelerator's demise. Not that it's happening, just saying when it does.
It will happen one day
@@spinba11 one day
Ryan, would really be interested in hearing your thoughts on Intamin ride Colossus at thorpe park, you don't have to look around too much too find reviews of people saying they are getting shaken to bits on the ride or there is very little footroom. Would love to know if you feel a retracked and new trains is possible like they did with Nemesis Reborn at Alton Towers recently. I do wonder how much life is left in that coaster?
Well... whether it be next year or 20 years from now, it will be a sad day when we can no longer enjoy that insane hydraulic launch any longer.
@@mikeyp916 I still haven’t got to it yet but I’ve ridden accelerator at knotts. And I hear it’s much more powerful than the Ka
@@ryantheridemechanicI can't imagine Accelerator being much faster. I've ridden the original Dragster and Kingda Ka. What a rush. 128 mph and then into a 5G-inducing curve to get vertical. I cherish these hydraulic stratacoasters. Now only 1.
Exactly. People need to appreciate how ground-breaking these hydraulic stratacoasters were. And that they have yet to be topped, at least here in the U.S., for speed and height. And thrill. I'd start a Go Fund Me for KK. Or make it a pay to ride, SFGA. I don't care. Hold onto that ride.
@@roberttore3442 I’m told…… that accelerators launch is much more aggressive. I don’t know the official number but I’ll make up some for my thought. Accelerator is 0-80mph in 170ft
The Ka is 0-60in 170ft.
Now, the Ka will, for sure, get to a higher top end.
@ryantheridemechanic in my opinion, xcel is better. Ka might be taller and faster, but Xcelerator's launch out of the station is way better. I've been on both.
Need it for parts for top thrill 2
I love your long form vids! Especially the ones that are an hour, it’s like a podcast.
@@Sawyersaviation that’s great. Plenty of rambling to go around. I’ve thought and tried shorter videos but I don’t like them. I feel I can’t say what’s happening without doing multiple short videos. And nobody wants that.
I’m sorry if they get rid on Kingda Ka this will scream they want Cedar Point to remain on top and eliminate competition.
When I went in July it had just been down for a few weeks waiting on a new launch cable. I will admit it would be way more fun with a 456ft spike off the back with a lsm swing launch up to 128mph. But don't let Zamperla touch it!
X2 though S&S supports the Arrow coasters so that's not the best analogy lol
I personally love the length of your videos as I like all the information 😂
i’m going to six flags in January 2025 witch is five months from Now
My conspiracy theory about Formula Rossa is that it's closed to increase its launch speed so it doesn't loose the record from Falcon's Flight. An even CRAZIER conspiracy theory would be that Six Flags is going to build a 550 ft. tall spike on Kingda Ka to keep the record for tallest freestanding roller coaster. It's never gonna happen, but it'd be super funny.
If it gets removed, I will never forget my 2 night rides on it in 2021!
@@Metal_Groove45 that’s worth something right there!
Imagine if they call in B&M 💀💀
They'd probably put in a lift hill and a holding brake.
Technically, they could remove Kingda Ka and leave the tower structure up just for Zumanjaro.
@@markvolpe2305 sure could.
Your comments bring up interesting questions (to me, anyway). Do parks ever cannabalize closed rides for spare parts to keep other rides going? If so, when does this help? And what problems arise from this practice? How do you balance those decisions?
@@DJtheLoungeLizard I covered a lot of these in other videos. But the subject is not clear or easy to decipher. Whenever a ride is taken out. Parts and pieces go to another park that still has it. Generally parks won’t sell parts to another park as there is liability involved. Same reason a lot of parks won’t give away old parts to coaster enthusiasts.
If you look at Jack Rabbit at Kennywood, it's case in point, that not all rides need to be dismantled after a certain number of years
Ship of Theseus situation
I am 16 year old and i am a German would you Go If you were me to King da ka because ITS the only Off Its model because top thrill dragster is not anymore working.
Yes. Ride Kingda Ka as much as you can.
At a certain point it will just be to expensive to repair
@@0z3r0 yep. And then they will have to look at if the ride hurts the bottom line to operate.
I love this channel. I also really appreciate some short form videos- I love your longer videos, but I don't have time to watch them consistently. this video is short enough I can justify pausing what I'm doing to watch it.
Hope they keep the hydraulic launch as long as possible.
If it's ran its course, they should work with Intamin again and reimagine it. Add 200 ft to the tophat and regain the world's tallest coaster record right after Falcon's Flight takes it. I'm only kidding ofcourse. Or am I..
If it closes (which I dont think it will) I'll never forgot my first ride on it at 12 years old.
They want CP to reclaim their title as Tallest Coaster in the US lmao😂
Maybe the new six flags leaned there lesson and will let intamin reimagine it and not deal with a headache
I work at kingda ka and the crew has been talking about this for a while actually. I really think if they change it, they should have intamin come in and somehow revamp it. I say keep the tower as well. The tower is WAY too iconic to just remove, and of course the drop tower is on it.
And yeah, I think it’s a horrible idea to remove it.
@@cobra3437 well put. Makes the parks skyline
six flags said it is going nowhere
IF they do take it down, it's a damn shame. Seriously. I mean TT2 has turned into a POS, until, or even IF they can fix it. Kingda Ka leaving sucks. Some people may think it's funny and well due, but it will be mourned. For sure.
TT2 is not a POS I rode it 6 times opening week it’s an amazing ride. Yes they shut it down but thank god they found an issue before there was an accident and yes it took longer than anticipated but it will be worth the wait!
In other news, Disney is going to fix the Yeti in 2025!!! ;)
@@ctechbob really? That’s good. Their profits must be up
Phew! This makes me feel so much better! Thank you!
@@danamarie2970 your welcome
I enjoy all of your intros. This one is no exception.
@@Kevin-gb9ux thank you. I try and just have fun on the intros.
My wife and I rode KK 15 times in 2 days a month ago. All 15 times front seat. It was the most reliable ride SFGA had both days we were there. The truly unreliable ride we noticed was Superman, a flight ride. That type of ride never seems to consistently run. It never ran the 2 days we were there. Id keep checking the SFGA app and see that Superman was "Closed". Not "Temporarily Closed". Just "Closed".
A lot of the time rides get closed because of staffing constraints. The Achilles' heel of B&M flyers, though, are the trains. They've got tons of sensors, wiring, small moving parts, even a hydraulic component iirc (for the leg flaps). Still the only coaster I've heard of that can have ride errors and train errors. The rest of the ride is pretty much standard fare for B&M.
@sharkheadism Yeah, I like B&M, they have good rides and a great safety record but the issue Superman had when we were there was the trains. One got stuck on the lift hill, they thought they got it fixed, ran a few empty trains and then...nothing. Down all weekend.
I don’t mind if zamperla touches it. they’re strata retrofit should be perfected by next year. Cheap and clean!
@@Jcjc-lr4bf hope so! I wanna ride that thing!
@@ryantheridemechanic it's really good!
Not going anywhere for a long time.
@@commonwealthedison2640 hope so I haven’t ridden it yet. Hoping to next year if I can make it.
your videos are NOT too long
@@dindog22 thank you
I remember when Kingda Ka first opened back in 2005. It was the talk of the town at school for the longest. Senior trips to the park were overhyped because every kid was looking to get a ride in on that thing. It sure put Great Adventure back on the map though. Funny thing is, most times I've been to Great Adventure over the years the ride was not running as much or not at all. I'm very certain the ride was a headache to manage due to its power requirements and mechanical complexity.
How is this channel not sooo much bigger.
Great video, and keep up the long videos.
I think Kingda Ka will eventually get a makeover. TT2 is like the experiment of what not to do and eventually what to do. LOL! Once they figure out TT2, I'm sure they'll do something for Kingda KA. These rides are what bring people to these parks and are the icons of the park. Management and Marketing know this. There not just going to get rid of it. That's crazy talk. But they will probably re-imagine it if TT2 eventually is successful.
BS lmao. You knew what you were getting into when you bought the coaster… Let intamin fix it up then.
Damn, first the Oakland A’s and now Kingda Ka

Hello! Greetings from the UK. I was wondering how you got into ride mechanics in the first place, since it's something I'm interested in and would love to pursue as a job. Awesome video as always😁😁
