Yeah, Reach is the best. but now, all the halo games are trash thanks to microsoft... Halo 4 and all the new ones are increasingly horrible. hopefully it gets better. I was in that final 20 people playing Halo 2 on Xbox Live! I managed to leave my Xbox on over 2 days passed the official server shutdown. This was before I finally accepted the inevitable and left the servers for one last time. I tried to balance out the fact I'd never play H2 online again, with the increasing risk and killing my Xbox.

Imagine being in that last game of halo 2, you're there fighting the only other player. Then all of the sudden it pops up that he got disconnected. That feeling being the last one on the game, all others gone. That wouldn't feel victorious, it'd be lonely and depressing. Losing everyone who had something in common with you, down to being alone. I would have just shut my console off as soon as the other guy got dropped.

+Shannonnezul Yeah, When it got to the end and I hadn't heard the word "Marathon" yet, I was about to get critical; but it turns out it did get a very tiny mention, so I'll let it slide. However, considering how much of Marathon's original themes, archetypes, concepts, weapons, and even characters made the jump over to Halo:CE, Marathon deserves a much bigger spotlight for being the precursor to the Halo games.
Marathon was my childhood, still in love today and go back at least once every few years to spark up the trilogy!

I remember playing the hell out of Halo 2 ever-single-day after school with my friends. I'd go to my cousins house with my friend and we'd sit there and play slayer till it got dark and we passed out. also I remember me and my cousin one day while my friend was sick, I went to his house and we spent about an hour trying to get the Scarab Gun... good times. thanks for this top 10, I love your videos and have been watching your top 10s for about 7-8 months now. keep it up bro!

Just a minor correction. Halo Combat Evolved was not an Xbox exclusive. Like Halo 2 it was also available on the PC. Only the later major installments were Xbox exclusive. (Halo wars not counted)

Bill Serad Thats not what exclusive means though. Exclusivity = only on one place and one place only. As soon as you have an alternative what ever it is, its no longer exclusivity. And the PC is just as much of a gaming platform as any of the consoles, even more so now, when consoles are being built a lot closer architecturaly to PCs.

***** Yeah, I like the abilities. They were well-implemented in my opinion and are super fun. I imagine those same people didn't enjoy Halo: Reach the way I did. Telling a story about before the events of Halo was a good call, I think, and allowed players to get some customization on their own unique characters, too.
Whereas in Halo 5, you're basically seeing Master Chief slowly being replaced by Locke.

urgh destiny was horrible. tbh ive only played the beta but it was everything i didnt want from it. it looked like itd be a cross between halo and mass effect but turned out to be borderlands with the same 2 maps reused for every single "mission". i dont know how bungie made that after halo but im almost glad they left if halo would devolve into that. although wardens in halo 5 are the same grindy boss battle bullshit

Idk what anyone says, Halo CE (Halo 1) was the best game ever created. It perfected the format for multiplayer and single player shooters. And don't even get my started on Halo CE legendary mode...
I have to disagree with you there. I think DOOM 3 was the best game ever made. I'm not saying it's my favorite, (I actually don't like horror) but if you really look into the dialogue, the tiny details, and the fact that every horror element known to exist is in it, DOOM 3 is a masterpiece. Please don't get me wrong, Halo CE is a really good game and I love it, but DOOM 3 really is a masterpiece. Not even the new DOOM tops it.

Ameya Kashid I do not dislike Halo 5, but I do think it was the worst version that it could have been. I saw a galaxy spanning campaign involving The Flood, Mendicant Bias, and The Forerunners, not this. The campaign acts like Halo 4 never happened. Cortana being alive makes void all the plot of Halo 4 and all the character development Chief had. Also, it's short, and the story was so poorly written that it was like something from a 12 year old. The multiplayer is good, if you like no content and only 6-7 playlists at launch. If there was more content,the base gameplay (awesome btw) would have made it the best MP to ever grace Halo, but 343 took the easy way out.

+Ian Cheong I'vr had the game since year one, and it is one of the most boring games I've ever played. Sure, the beginning is fun, but once you reach the max level all it is is gaining light until you can do the raid, and then gaining light to do the hard raid. After that the game is pretty much over. There is multiplayer, but it's one of the worst I've ever played.

I am a big Halo fan, and when I found out Halo 2 servers were to be shut down, I was also one of the people whom were playing online. It saddened me to hear a game that I love was having its multiplayer plug pulled for its official servers. Those of us in the last game I played only made it half way though the match before we lost connection with the server. I know I sat there for the next 15 min waiting for the server to find new host but it never did. Our match feels like it never finished and never will. I may not be one of the 2 you mentioned in your video but there were more people online that night than just those 2 trying to keep the fun of Halo 2 Going!

Hey, I really liked this video! The facts were interesting and your provided plenty of detail and backstory. I would like to share this on my social media feeds, but unfortunately there is language that isn't appropriate for all audiences. If you cut down on that in the future videos, or redo the narration, I will definitely stay in tune.
I remember signing onto Halo 2 on the last day and playing a straight 24 hours. I think there were only 100-300 people when I dropped out, but I couldn't keep playing as I had set my 360 to auto shutdown after 6 hours of inactivity (which since then was permanently turned off). I met some great people over that session, including the last guy that was ever on Halo 2 XBL. I also remember somebody getting kicked off because they tried to sign a guest in after the cut off period. Bad times.

I've played every halo, and they add all kinds of new stuff with each release, but halo 2 aside from a few cut scene issues was by far my favorite

All these trolls saying the Halo 5 campaign sucks. The only thing that sucked was its length. It took me about 10 hours to beat, but those were some damn awesome hours. 9/10

+Primordial Bias Well like Halo 2, Halo 5 is the middle of the trilogy that won't have a complete story till Halo 6. It is like watching the middle of a movie and saying it doesn't make sense.
+Kyle Smith there were no trolls the game is a step in the wrong direction, the story sucked, the multiplayer was average, there are a lot of game modes that are missing at launch, the map rotations are screwed up, split screen was cut, forge isn't going to be out till December,they basically lied about the campaign ( advertising the game as a lock vs chief showdown ) all of the characters are shallow and uninteresting, you get to play as the chief for 3 out of the 15 missions.
And above all else they added the req packs to Halo, this is literally the worst thing they could have done. The game is a 4.5/10 at best for me
To me the campaign was Amazing and terrible at the same time. I'll explain myself. If you were to take away the cutscenes and leave the gameplay its fun as fuck. Literally, never (since halo reach) have I ever been so thrilled to play the campaign again! Especially with the no lag co-op, huge plus on that. However I was disappointed with the campaign as I was so lost. I knew that my friend which knows a lot about the lore loved it.

Halo 2 was an amazing game that I got to own, play, & continue playing even when my Xbox got the red ring of death from all the hours I played online & offline. So hearing about those last 2 people enjoying the game up to the moment when they took the servers down, made me actually cry... And hearing that they were being cheared on till the unfortunate closing of its servers just really got me. This isn't to say that there were only 2 people, the video mentions 20. But honestly, thank u guys for mentioning them, and for those who haven't played a Halo game, go get one. You may not like a games story, but that doesn't mean that u won't have fun. Not to mention with some of the newer Halo games you can actually make ur own multiplayer maps, or download someone else's map. And yes, my icon is a Pikachu. Never met someone who has shooting games like Destiny all the way to some Nintendo game like Pokemon? Now u have.
Sad that I never played Halo 2 in it's prime. I was 4 when the game released, and I didn't get into gaming until I was 12. I wish I could've played Lockout Snipers then...

Another interesting note about District 9...you can see many similarities in the props and some of the animations to Halo material (the Prawns walk almost exactly as Sangheili do)

District 9 is one of my favorite movies ever, and is a must-watch in my opinion. A Halo movie would have been great, but there's no way it could have compared to District 9

That last fact ( not the bonus) almost made me cry. Not because the game died. But because it reminds me of what it would be like if the walking dead or the last of us was real. If the last standing people walked alone or together, dropping while doing what they loved. A true piece of art.
