Peter Engel did his thing when it came to making shows for the youth back in the day! I'm grateful that grew up in this time! Truly was the best time to be a youth!
I love this show!!!! Wesley was so damn fine and still is, They def dont make shows like this no more. It's reality shows now and kids look up to these people like role models tf

24 years later (10/2/21) after the pilot first aired. Here I am watching it on UA-cam. Funny thing, I forgot how L-Train started off as a bully and then become part of the crew. TV had a lot of good shows aimed at us teenagers at the time. I still remember waking up happy that it was Saturday morning and I did not have to go to school. I'd get some cereal and watched other shows to finally watch City Guys; my favorite TNBC show. Back in fall of 2001 I was disappointed after hearing the news that TNBC was ending and was being replaced with Discovery Kids. For the first time in my life, there would be nothing to look forward to watching on Saturday mornings. I just graduated high school so part of me found solace in the fact that I had TNBC all throughout elementary school, middle school, high school and a few months during my first year in college.

This brings back those great memories. The 1990's was special time when video game competitions were taking center stage, you would come home from school and play road hockey, enjoy the amazing NBC lineup of Captain Planet, X Men, Saved By The Bell, Hang Time, City Guys and the list goes on. City Guys brought an eclectic mix of characters and you could relate to each one of them. Whenever you think about this show and or watch it, you are reminded of spring and summer, the bright clothing, video games, old friends, NBA Basketball, trading cards and just everything that encompasses the 1990's. Times were really different back then and the early to mid 1990's brought a smile on everyone's face when it came to entertainment. It was a time when Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, great television, movies, road hockey and chilling with your friends is all that mattered.
Do you remember the shows called Taina and USA High? Wesley Jonathan who played Jamal in City Guys appeared in one episode of USA High and the principal from USA High made an appearance in an eoisode of City Guys where they all camp out on the school rooftop for the night. Taina was about an American Puerto Rican girl attending the Manhattan School of Arts and would dream big of becoming a singer. I wasn't a big fan of Saved By the Bell. Coming from an ethnic minority background i could resonate with the storylines in City Guys, USA High and Taina more. All three bring back a deep surge of nostalgia - sometimes to the point of wishing to return to my years from 10-16 so i could do things differently. The only show which i managed to watch in full during those mid to late 90s years and early 2000s was USA High as that would be shown on a Saturday. I live in the UK, so both City Guys and Taina would be shown very early in the morning as i was getting ready for school, and would only manage to watch ten minutes before having to set off.
