Mine is leaking when I fill it up. Right after the Gas pump automatically stops pumping when it's full of fuel. Could it be the return line from the neck of the tank?

What a challenge. Kinda frustrating to be in the situation of having to put already rusting replacement parts onto the car.
The most frustrating part is when people expect you to follow a parts and labor time guide as if everything gets moved around like a new car. Asking me how much the job is going to cost is a loaded question. My reality sees questions like that as hyperbole. A million dollars being my answer. Maybe less if their lucky. If they don't like that answer, they can always junk it.

Is your shop connected to your house? I hate messing with gasoline because the smell permeates the whole building. Diesel fumes are even worse.
No. You probably need to seal your garage better. Had to leave my garage door open a crack for days to get the stink out from that job. Old transmission fluid, and gear oil stinks a lot too. It gets on everything.
