Novaura Autism Yep because in a way The Phillie Phanatic is more of a muppet than a mascot ! and Gritty was made in the same kind of image. Phillie Phanatic is fantastic and Gritty has taken root in Philadelphia Flyer land !!

NBC is locked in to a tv deal with the NHL untill 2022, they have expressed interest in signing with the NHL again
Gritty is still doing great things in the fan-less season. He had his portrait painted, for real and in real time, throughout a game last week.

The most notable thing that comes to mind about Harvey the Hound is the time he had his big tongue pulled out. During a game against their intra-provincial rival, the Edmonton Oilers, Harvey came too close to the glass by the Oilers bench, causing then-Oilers coach Craig Mactavish to yank out the tongue and toss it in the crowd. Unfortunately Twitter was still a few years off, so it was mostly heard about in just the hockey world.
The Philly Union's mascot Phang was introduced about 14 days before Gritty... The poor bastard never had a chance, to be fair, he's a snake with arms... Gritty actually was in the River End at a Union game and got a warmer reaction than Phang.
That's what happens when you let kids choose the mascot...we would've been better off with a Ben Franklin impersonator or something...

Because there's a million other people who'd be better at it but they could never get the job because aren't hot. Imagine a woman who is hilarious, has an encyclopedic knowledge of sports but is ugly, she'd never get the job but a dude in the same position would be hired in a heartbeat.

Gnash for the Nashville predators has been the top mascot in recent years. He's the only one that averages top three in respective (not fan opinionated) polls. Plus, the story of when ground was broken for Bridgestone arena they found the skeleton fossil of a sabertooth tiger. Hence why Gnash is a sabertooth for our mascot.

Hockey fans really don't understand why ESPN is talking about our sport. You forgot us over a decade ago when you walked away from the broadcast deal with the NHL. Why do you keep trying to come back now that the league is more popular than ever? We gave up on you long ago.

Gritty is bringing a ton of attention to the NHL, especially from non-NHL fans. The league is SMART for talking about Gritty a lot because, well, so is everyone else. It's a smart PR move to put a lot of effort into showcasing what is obviously showing to be popular. The other mascots should be happy in the fact that they will get more attention because Gritty is getting attention. No need for a pissing battle unless they're trying to fabricate a rivalry that no one will care about.

Seriously though, the reason Gritty has been treated the way he has by the league is because he's more popular than the other mascots. I can see how that rankles a lot of the other teams/mascots, but it is what it is. (and the Flyers aren't even my team)

This is the funniest thing ever! Poor mascots, not getting enough attention? THEN DO SOMETHING WORTHWHILE AND INTERESTING!! 4 days a week, during this quarantine, Gritty does a 15 minute, USUALLY interactive, live chat on Instagram. What are you doing to keep your fans motivated? What are you doing for your fans, PERIOD? Gritty is the best mascot because he DOES stuff.
