3:00 is one of the reasons I miss SFIV. Level 3 focus could be so cheap at low level, but at high level it was a real gamble that felt so hype to hit. Definitely does significant mental damage too. Once they think you might throw out a level 3 focus, nothing is off the table
Wonder if drive impact will be kind of the same way honestly. Definitely twitch reactable into a full combo and it's even more committal than focus but it's going to stomp low level play (which will include me until I get trauma trained enough for it). I guess the fact that it is so committal takes away a bit of that effect that you could have gone for something safer but you decided to just let it rip.
@@layarteBdnAevoL Yes I am def looking forward to trying it out. I think being in the corner will be terrifying because of the wall splat too. Honestly I have high hopes for SF6, I just hope it doesnt have a release like 5 did 😔
@layarteBdnAevoL there's so many layers to the Drive system and mechanics in general that DI is really only similar to focus attack in appearance and the crumple. And even then, the crumple requirements and rewards are different this time around. But as far as the lower skill levels and early meta, DI won't be as effective as focus attack was. To name a few main differences, it costs Drive gauge (which is critically important), it can be blocked unless in the corner, and there's no variations/canceling so it can be guaranteed punished by an opposing DI or even an evasion. Amazing improvement imo, and the Drive system will be insane both to play and watch.
@@Punkdagod IN 2019 AT CPT, when you beat Daigo (Guile)( was insane man. Did you go in thinking you would win? I look at players like you and Daigo with amazement, and then I always kind of wonder about the people who are extremely talented but just don't seem to perform well under pressure.
Watching fgc translated channel translate what Daigo think of Momochi during sf4 was interesting. It was really nice to hear their taught about thing in fgc.
It was mainly the depth and options you have with sf4. It the reason why so many people are hyped for 6 because the depth in the game is CRAZY. Even aside from combos the options that we have with netural, fireballs, and pressure is insane.
@@josephwiard6695 First off get out your feelings and two that is his personal opinions there are many pros that have differing opinions from Daigo. And if where being objective sf5 has a smaller roster and less depth in the actual gameplay. Depth is one of the most important part of a fighting game and why some of the best fighting games have great depth. Third strike,Mvc2 and Mvc3 along side Sf Alpha all are timeless games because they have great variety and depth.
@@josephwiard6695 If that's true, then the question would be WHY does he prefer it? I have noticed that Daigo seems to have done better at SF5 during the second half of the game's lifespan whereas with SF4 he did better in the first half. It's just an idea, but maybe he likes SF5 more because it's easier for him to be among the best at it even at its endstage before SF6 releases. With SF4 on the other hand it was much harder for him to attain ultimate success after the rest of the world had closed the distance with Japan's tech/skill level. He suffered quite a bit of heartbreak with SF4 after winning those first two EVOs in 2009/10 and could never recapture that kind of dominance when it mattered most (which is in a tournament setting and not long exhibition sets).
I think I've watched everyone I follows review on this match. Probably seen 6 or more reactions to this one. Still love the views on it. Great set and why not recheck it with different lenses right?
I just wanted to thank yall for putting in the definition of nooch because I had no idea what it was. I don't play fighting games. Just watch, but I wish I was on an elite level like the players I watch.

ah yes classic classic again. I actually went to try this 2 months ago ish even if the trend came like 8 months ago with jmcrofts,Brian, and uh,panda fighting games. But yea hard as hell, and hype
man i was there. i saw it when it happened. momochi was always the bulldog underdog, ready to eat some lunch. but daigo was a god for a reason. well, tbh i feel like its a 5.5 match for evil ryu and a 4.5 for ken so. i call that one a draw. except for that second set. momochis demons came back to haunt.
i remember in street fighter 2 when the rocks in sagats background could be used as a landmark for Ryus corner traps, as such. The level was slightly changed to make the rocks actually spawn between a few spots. now in sfIV 5 and such.. all we see in fighters in many pro scenes is a stage like training stage which literally are designed to only clearly have obvious landmarks with the grid design in many of those levels. what a difference how much easier things are for the pros in some aspects and how some things that were kind of not suppose to be so easy in a real match, is now literally almost all we see the pros play on. maybe its too hard to get gud lol jk they all say get gud, yes choose the easiest ways out themselves XD i just find it interesting.
I know what you mean since it was originally called the sako special. When sako does it, it just hit different since he cancels the light axe into cr.lp st.hp. While daigo cancels a hadouken to continue the combo making it easier, not saying his combo isnt difficult its just that sako's execution is just on another level.

Momochi and daigos rivalry in sf4 was a thing of beauty to witness..
Always amazing watching them play in 4 or 5 and prob soon to be 6 lol
Momochi vs daigo, tokido vs daigo, gamerbee vs daigo all so entertaining

Love the breakdowns of each player's movements, so many things happening that people would miss or not really get why it was happening!
Punk always putting that respect on Daigo with these videos.
Of course. Daigo is the only man who put Justin Wong into PTSD ( Parry Traumatic Stress Disorder) to this day .
Daigo is the GOAT of SF.
Adding the FGC Term definitions into the video is a smart touch. SF6 is gonna bring a lot of new blood, time to get people edumacated
For the first time ever in my 10+ years of being in the fgc, I feel like we're really poised to do something great and welcome a lot of new people in.
the dictionary explanation of nooch was hilarious. I hope future videos occasionally drop lingo explanations.
dude i learned so much from just this vid. thanks for explaining and breaking it down so well. props to your editor too.
Watching fgc translated channel translate what Daigo think of Momochi during sf4 was interesting. It was really nice to hear their taught about thing in fgc.
OH MAI DAZE!
Absolutely legendary match and commentary.
I still consider this set to be the pinnacle of fighting game skill. Two legendary shoto players at the absolute top of their game
Yeah I remember this. I was watching this live and this is right before I started my smash career 😂
To me, this set is legendary just like EVO #37 and Daigo vs GamerBee at EVO,
and of course, Tokido vs Punk also at EVO
Absurdly legendary set. The back and forth between these two Gods was just Street Fighter perfection.
Man SF4 was leagues above SF5. I miss This type of hype!

Rare footage of Punk not complaining about something.
lol to hear punks fire alarm battery ringing makes me dead every time
Bruh seeing Kara cancels is so crazy. Punk is so godlike with the breakdowns
Pulling off 5x 1 frame links with Evil Ryu in 1 combo in a major tournament is next level. He truely is a beast.
Take a drink every time Punk says “Daigo”
Thanks for explaining everything!!
Watching this live is one of my greatest life achievements
seriously super high level gameplay ... absolutely legendary match. One of the reasons why i like SF4 much more than sf5.
Love the content man. Sick af analysis
I remember like it was yesterday that someone said that was probably the most optimal combo someone could do to get that chip finish.
Theme around 11:22.
Folks who know Daigo Umehara know this is why hes the GOAT. He’s like Naruto of the FGC.
3:35 I LMAO at the "Knowing this game that cross up might have been unblockable" HAHAHHAA
Hype azz breakdown
One of the best sets ever
this whole set is just thug shit,
the combo is just the cherry on top
icing on the cake
love this
Remember watching this live. Legends!
Smug and Sanford Kelly was the best little rivalry in sf4 imo.
Snakeyez (Zangief) and Diminion (Guile) was also a rivalry
Legendary commentary 🙌.
Daigo takes an inch and goes a mile omg
Sf4 is still good till this day man

This video should be tagged with the SF4 hashtag, if there is one.
Great analysis bro
when i saw the title i was like oh the momochi one in sf4🤣?
Wasn't it Daigo that once said you were his most difficult opponent?

25 hit combo in a game where you can't even 10 hit combo without super or multi hit moves.
Man, this game neutral is so awkward. allows so much cool interactions, 50/50. These matches rent free along some MVC3 matches
