I love how the train passengers stood up to protect Peter. It didn’t help much in the moment but I think Peter needed to see that people really cared about him.
Doc Ock's "I will Not Die A Monster" has always Stuck With me. Not only is it a Powerful Line but Describes what i think most Redeemed bad guys have in their head. Indeed when i see a villian get a redemption arc in anything I always here Alfred Molina Saying this line in my head.
I truly believe Rosemary Harris's portrayal of Aunt May in this film specifically is the best the character has ever been realized outside of the comic medium, possibly any medium. Her performance is perfect and I adore her. I also think the scene where she mentions what Spidey said to her is sort of the film's way of saying she knows, or at least suspects that it's Peter.
@@EURODISC0 I was just about to say the same thing. The Sam Raimi Spidey trilogy and the Dark Knight trilogy are very different, but very similar. Both considered to be some of the best superhero trilogies of all time. Batman is DC’s most popular hero. Spider-Man is Marvel’s. Both had solid trilogies. Most fans consider the first one great, the second one to be absolute top tier, and the third one is loved but usually considered the weakest part of the trilogy. The same can also be said about Back to the Future and the OG Star Wars trilogy.
13:10 Many have theorized that the Doctor Strange of this universe is just a famous neurosurgeon and not a Sorcerer. It's still up for debate on who exists in this universe because of licencing reasons as Sony only owned the movie rights to Spider-Man. In Spider-Man 1 Jameson says 'these weirdos have all got to have a name now' in relation to Spider-Man and the Green Goblin, but this could also allude to other superheroes/villains existing in New York City ones we just don't see in the film. There was a MTV Spider-Man cartoon which takes place after the events of the first Spider-Man film even though the continuity doesn't exactly line up and non of the characters shared voice actors or even a likeness, most people don't even count it as being canon. In this Peter Parker name drops the X-Men "I bet the X-Men are allowed to go to parties. Kingpin who also appears in the MTV show is played by Michael Clarke Duncan who also played him in that awful Daredevil 2003 movie so this could be set in the same continuity as Sam Rami's Spider-Man even though i kind of wish it wasn't. Stark Industries is briefly mentioned in the series finale so this at least confirms that Tony Stark is around in this universe but no info on if he became Iron Man. But these three examples are all from the MTV cartoon so we can't take them for canon to the movies. The producers wanted Thomas Jane to make a cameo as Frank Castle in Spider-Man 2, as he was starring as the character in The Punisher (2004). But Sony didn't own the film rights, so his stunt double was used and can be seen when MJ is running through the Central Park Conservancy I believe, you could see one guy in the background turn around who looks a lot like Thomas Jane's Punisher. *Rami Spider-Verse:* Spider-Man - Tobey Maguire Daredevil - Ben Affleck Kingpin - Michael Clarke Duncan Punisher - Thomas Jane Blade - Wesley Snipes Hulk - Eric Bana Doctor Strange - Unknown Ghost Rider - Nicolas Cage That's my head canon for who exist in this universe, pretty much most of the early Marvel movies from the late 90s to early 2000s. 2 weeks late, but not just in the movies, but in the comics as well, Spidey's greatest weakness is his tendency to blame himself for EVERYTHING that goes wrong, even when he's not involved. He always feels like if he "had been there" he could have helped people that have suffered or died. Like, in the comics, Spidey was in a coma and Electro began rampaging around, and after Spidey woke up, he blamed himself because he felt like he could've stopped Electro if he'd been there, even if it was impossible. Many characters comment on Peter's self-depricating speeches and humor, and that's his coping mechanism.
Directed by the man who did The Evil Dead. He really showed his horror chops at moments - especially the hospital scene. I love it. Thanks for the reaction.
Spider-Man 1: Power. Spider-Man 2: Responsibility. "With great power comes great responsibility." I love that the first two movies stay true to that message! 🕷
just so you know, Jess, you were actually watching the extended version of this film, because some of the scenes you saw were not in the theatrical version.

That hospital scene is maybe my favourite scene in any comic book movie. I only find myself wishing that other comic book movies were as dark and portrayed the villain with such horrific menace. One of the finest films ever made, period. In terms of a two film arc for a superhero becoming himself, establishing himself, going through all the emotions and complexities of being an anonymous hero, to have the city hate him and be suspicious of him, to then have it proved through a dramatic action sequence that he is a hero to the people of New York, and then the filmmaking and direction and effects and performances, it’s never been topped. With just two films, I am utterly engrossed, unlike anything Spidey related that’s come since, with the exception of the PlayStation game.
I love the villains in all these movies. They're not simply an evil mustache-twirling bad guy, they start with good intentions and circumstances make them do bad things

I’m so glad I found your reaction to this movie. The way you screamed during the scene with aunt May lined up so perfectly when it cut to Dock Ock yelling after she hit him with her umbrella 😂😂
A separate team worked on the train sequence for 2 years, the lengths they went to are showcased in this - ua-cam.com/video/tFp5caeiX70/v-deo.html It's still for me such an exhilarating sequence 😍
Spider-Man 2 is my favourite film of all time. I watched the Rami films relentlessly as a kid, I had all the toys and costumes. This film is so iconic and it has some of the greatest scenes in any superhero film. Like it really is The Dark Knight of Marvel Films My favourite scene in this is when he lets MJ go, puts on his mask, looks back at MJ and swings off into the night
Interesting fact: During the ending Scene with MJ running, Thomas Jane of all people (or a lookalike, account conflict) watches her in the slo-mo. Jane was playing the Punisher around this time for the films. So, Punisher is possibly canon in the Raimi Trilogy.
I love all the Rami movies yes even 3 with all it’s flaws but for me the defining moment that made Toby Spider Man better than Andrew and and Tom is the house fire scene Peter there proves that he is everything without the suit and powers they do not make him Spider Man his heart does
One of the few superhero films to be nominated at the Oscar’s for sound design, along with Superman, Batman Forever, Spider-Man, The Dark Knight, and The Batman.
A couple of future famous people who cameo in this film: Emily Deschanel from Bones and Zooey Deshanels sister Daniel Dae Kim from (Buffy spin off) Angel and Lost Joel McHale from Community.
And just so you know the difference between spiderman 2 and spiderman 2.1 is that spiderman 2.1 is just spiderman 2 but with the added deleted bonus scenes
When it comes to Peter having a conversation with Harry at the end of the film, i think Peter is giving Harry time to process. In Peter's mind, Harry has no relation to the Green Goblin. At that point, the only leverage Harry had over Peter was his Spiderman persona. And we saw in both films that the city's people had Spiderman's back. Which made Spiderman's enemy the people's enemy.
I think they should have at least shown Peter trying to go and talk to Harry. In my mind, I don't doubt that Peter tried to get in contact with Harry, but taking into account Harry's attitude throughout the film and his mental state at the end, I don't think he was/would've been opened to listen to what Peter had to say. For Harry, it was kind of the ultimate betrayal and I don't think he would have listened to anything Peter had to say -much less open the door to his home or even answer Peter's calls. Still, I would've liked to see Peter _trying_ and maybe give up 'cus he knows Harry won't see or listen to him. Now, it's been years since I watched the 3rd one and I don't remember if they have something like this there.
A friend of mine says this version of Mary Jane is super toxic. And he was right. Nothing, but a cheating hussy. I mean, the sequel just showed MJ's wedding ring on her finger, and tried to kiss Peter when she told him she's getting married. Equally worse like Harley Quinn's love for Joker when he abuses her so much. Plus, her screaming in danger gets on the nerves vividly. She's like a banshee that won't shut up.
I love this film, but Otto had it coming. He had an experiment to create a second sun in his fucking apartment with no protection for anyone apart from goggles for himself. These films are pure comedies and nobody can convince me otherwise.
Peter did suggest to run the numbers again to be safe. Otto’s ego got the better of him as did Harry’s need to bring OsCorp to its former glory as he would not accept delays
Spider-Man has always been his own worst enemy in the comics... at least where relationships are concerned. Look, he was bitten by a radioactive spider. Female spiders cut off the heads of their mates and devour the carcass. No wonder Peter's relationships with women dont work out! Its genetics!
That was one of my biggest gripes with the third movie. Peter for some reason never thought it would be a good idea to try to go and talk to Harry. Instead he just basically ignored him until it was too late and he went off into the deep end. It never made sense for me why they would write it that way. I think you will see how there were a lot of issues with the third movie. Its not the directors or the writers fault as they had a whole plan of how they wanted to do it but basically Sony forced Raimi to include certain stuff that he didn’t want to and the movie ended up being poorly written and paced. This movie however was different story. So many emotional and iconic scenes. That moment telling Peter to take money despite being under financial hardship always makes me tear up . Seeing the struggles of Peter trying to balance and juggle everything at once. From going to college, to trying to have a girlfriend, trying to keep his relationship with his best friend, trying to keep a job while also being Spider Man. The villain and the fight scenes are done extremely well. I am not a big Superhero person and by no means a Marvel fan but I will always love this movie just for how well done it was.
"Do you think Peter should have had the uncomfortable conversation with Harry? (Before the ending of this film?)" Should have as in the right thing to do (morally and ethically)? Sure. Would it have made a difference? No. Just the circumstances alone, even w/o context were extreme enough. Then add: 1) Harry's honestly more abusive-than-not upbringing.. 2) his jealousy of Norman's preference for Peter 3) his dad being a scientific genius AND self-made wealthy businessman (in NYC, of all places) 4) MJ leaving him for Peter, making his dad's warning seem right 5) Norman hating Spider-Man then seemingly killed by him, making him again seem right 6) That man of these, like #2, exacerbated from perhaps minor insecurities to major elements of Harry's pain, resentment, and anger needing a target. Many *adults* in any similar predicament wouldn't be able to force themselves to have that uncomfortable conversation, and Peter here is I believe 19. (Yeah, that's legally an adult, but he's been saddled with real-world, grown-up problems since his mid-teens. Iir, in the comics, he's actually still 15 when he first gained his powers.)
As for my reactions when seeing it the first time, I felt it was trying to follow plot arcs from the comics, and I felt kind of underwhelmed because of my feelings about those plot elements, which I might speak more on after you watch 3 (if I remember to). But also, I think the films do such a good job of making us see things from Peter's perspective, that we don't see the same events from Harry's perspective very easily, who has a very different vantage point, is missing key information, but also on kind of a very different emotional journey. It was actually so bad, my initial reaction was honestly that I couldn't believe Harry would believe such shit and the only reason was the writers wanted to squeeze in the Second Green Goblin part from the comics, because Spidey is all about dealing with his neverending zoo of rogues (kinda not unlike the Flash in DC)..
I have to say that this iteration of Mary Jane is the worst character in any film ever made, she goes through the whole film cheating on both Peter and Jamison's son. It wasn't enough that she agreed to marry someone at an event that she knew Peter would be at, intentionally making her lifelong friend even more miserable, then she leaves dude at the alter without so much as a word. It gets even worse in the third film, where she spends all of it whining to Peter. Then when Peter does *exactly* to Mary Jane what Mary Jane did to him, dating Gwen Stacy to make her jealous, it's treated as a bad thing.
Im vindicated too because even though women think assume call me a creepy perverted stalker all the time it doesn't actually mean that i am a creepy perverted stalker
3:08 - Oof. This is a nice character moment - Peter is really, really book smart, but he's not very street smart. A tiny amount of wit would've gone a LONG way in this scene. "Are you fucking insane? After he killed your father? I don't want to piss this guy off! I'm staying the fuck out of it, man. What if he comes after me next, Harry?"
The issue with Peter is simply summed up by Otto & the doctor but especially Otto. "Otto Octavius : Love should never be a secret. If you keep something as complicated as love stored up inside, it could make you sick." There are few unlike yourself who pick up on this
peterparker was hav pb with his power sis do to his feelingsis and how he feelt in the holl movey a long with how ho loves mj but as spider man he feels its bast not to tel her hes spider man or that hes inlove with her hav a nices day
Not every guy in the world is a creepy perverted stalker get to know a guy ask questions first before you are to quick to judge someone get to know someone before you judge them
One of the best sequels ever, it’s such a good movie that it paved for way for more superhero movie concepts to be made. I’d say this movie and the first really captured what a superhero movie should be. Aunt May definitely knew Peter was Spiderman
I love how the train passengers stood up to protect Peter. It didn’t help much in the moment but I think Peter needed to see that people really cared about him.
Its also one of the best action sequences and was enhanced by Peter not wearing the mask so you could see the human behind the effects.
It goes to show that they’re such loyal people who are thankful for what he did for them and wouldn’t hesitate to do the same for him

4) MJ leaving him for Peter, making his dad's warning seem right
5) Norman hating Spider-Man then seemingly killed by him, making him again seem right
6) That man of these, like #2, exacerbated from perhaps minor insecurities to major elements of Harry's pain, resentment, and anger needing a target.
I think I will always love this aunt May more than Tom Hollands aunt may lol.
Amazing movie, I cry every time watching it.
When you are done with these spiderman movies watch both venom movies and then Morbius as they are connected
Nobody killed his father. He killed himself . After trying to kill spiderman.

But Harry doesn't know that.
Next Reaction film Starship troopers (1997) 👍👍
I am curious to see your reaction to 3 😂
Yeah this movie really beats the hell out of Peter Parker.
I know it's a Horror Film Thanks to Sam Raimi The Director of Evil Dead

Great sequel
I just want to say that you are like literally the most gorgeous looking girl in the universe in my opinion. Just wanted to stop by and support you
I ❤spider-man 2
I had no problem with MJ in these movies, until I saw Gwen in the Amazing series and the MCUs MJ; Now I can't stand her.
Hopefully you react to Into the Spiderverse as well
Once you finish the trilogy on your own time there is videos by a guy called Hitop films that just makes you appreciate these films even more
These movies are so iconic they named an entire subset of bugs (spiders) after them!
Kill Spider-Man but dont hurt Peter... mixed messages, much?
❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The issue with Peter is simply summed up by Otto & the doctor but especially Otto.
"Otto Octavius : Love should never be a secret. If you keep something as complicated as love stored up inside, it could make you sick."
There are few unlike yourself who pick up on this

Not every guy in the world is a creepy perverted stalker get to know a guy ask questions first before you are to quick to judge someone get to know someone before you judge them
Mary J is selfish lol.
One of the best sequels ever, it’s such a good movie that it paved for way for more superhero movie concepts to be made. I’d say this movie and the first really captured what a superhero movie should be. Aunt May definitely knew Peter was Spiderman
No she didnt
@@dolphinsrr she hinted at it
