Season Four - Episode Three: "Open House"
Episode Overview:
While struggling to explain his injuries sustained during the barroom beating he received from Mike, Walt must also try to talk Skyler down from her growing obsession with buying a car wash they can use to launder the huge profits from his drug dealing operation. On top of being upset to find out that Gus has installed a surveillance camera in the lab, Walt worries about Jesse’s state of mind in the wake of his killing Gale. Meanwhile, as she struggles with her husband Hank’s gloomy and menacing mood at home, Marie slips back into her old ways when she starts stealing items from houses she claims to be looking to buy.
Though rebuffed by car wash owner Bogdan Wolynetz, Skyler refuses to back off from her efforts to convince him to sell. So, despite Saul’s suggestion that they look at purchasing a nail salon instead, Skyler insists on continuing to pursue the car wash. When Skyler reveals that Wolynetz made disparaging remarks about his manhood, Walt overrules Saul and backs his wife. Meanwhile, Jesse continues his hard-partying ways, unaware that Gus’s lackey, Tyrus Kitt, is following him. After getting caught lying about her family life to realtors and homeowners as a way to gain access to houses, Marie is arrested for theft. Upon learning that his wife is in jail, Hank calls on Albuquerque Police Department Detective Tim Roberts for help.
To increase the pressure on Wolynetz, Skyler enlists someone to pose as a state inspector to threaten him with a shutdown over wastewater disposal violations. Though Walt is skeptical when she tries to drive a hard bargain with Wolynetz, Skyler’s hard-ball tactics work and he agrees to sell. Finally, in exchange for getting Marie off the hook for the thefts without being prosecuted, Detective Roberts asks Hank to review the case file for Gale Boetticher’s murder - a file that contains evidence that could incriminate Jesse and Walt.
i really wished Walt went go-karting with Jesse . That would have been an awesome father-son bonding experience , and probably improved Jesse’s emotional well-being
i’m talking about Walt going to go-kart with Jesse
Yeah I wish that would be an awesome scene seeing them doing go cart.
It wouldn't be any good if they were seen together hanging around. As far as anyone knew, Walt was a respected and decent man and Jesse was a known junkie. Someone would have seen them together and asked: WTH??
@@levivonmond also like your grandfather cares about you, of course he does, but you don't go go-karting with him do you
a father-son bonding experience? WALT had his own children, Jesse was not good with their parents, a father-son bonding experience with a traidor who never stood up like a man and let his junkie girlfriend take over and manipulate him. Walt was too generous, he should've errased the phone calls at jesse's and the junkie would ve never been such a pain in the ass.
Later in the show, Walt mocks Jesse by telling him he has nothing in his except video games and Go-Karts, when he only mentioned Go-Karts just this one time because he just wanted to hang out with Walt, but then Walt uses that against him just manipulate him and scold him
Thinking about that is quite heartbreaking
You could say he’s only into video games for his friends sake too. There’s several times where he’s hanging out with Skinny Pete and Badger and they’re talking nonstop about video games and Jesse’s just there, zoned out, not paying attention.
@@long_john But Jesse plays video games alone, and with other people too 🤔
It’s also sad because Jesse had Andrea until Walt convinced him to break up with her. Walt cut off his other relationships and then made fun of Jesse for having no one else. Textbook emotional abuse.
Even with the videogame, Jesse was using those to bond with Brock. Walt would gear down anything to make Jesse dependant on him (but still an arms length away).
I wish we got more scenes with Walt's son to see what kind of father he was before the events of breaking bad. It's implied they had a good relationship but Jr was young and may not have seen the signs of Walt being aloof and distant.
@@long_john Jesse has left for dead on his table when Walt and Mike are arguing about blowing up a police station.
Even Gus would have said yes. "Pinkman, I have been informed your Go Karting abilities are quite impeccable"
Haha, that would be awesome to see
Gus maybe not, but Mike yes
@@Overthinking-rain The whole season was Gus trying to win Jesse to kill Walt, ofc Gus would go karting with Jesse
@@morgan4544 i cant imagine gus playing go karts with jeese 😂
LOL you really nailed Gus' character down to the word choice and style of speaking. great dialogue there
The reason breaking bad is only a 9/10 is because after Walter's silent reaction to Jesse's go kart invite they don't immediately cut to both them racing down the track.
Honestly this was what I thought was gonna happen.
"no, Jesse. There's no way I'm actually gonna go go karting with-"
*Cut to them go-karting and screaming*
I feel like if it were season 1, that's exactly what would have happened
@@LowResCatExplosionAgree. S1 was hilarious a lot of times.
The saddest thing about this entire series is that these two *CLEARLY* care about each other, but either one is too afraid to admit it. Walt’s pride and manipulation and Jesse’s ignorance were the ultimate downfall to what could’ve been a fantastic father-son relationship.
burstingturtle Fantastic father-son relationship... Hard when you let his girl die when you could have helped
@@Aerochalklate lmao these guys be smoking too much meth.
@@Aerochalklate His girl? Oh you mean the junkie loser who despite her dad's enormous efforts kept fucking herself and her close ones up with drugs? Yeah, glad Walt got to her before she got Jesse killed as well.
@@Aerochalklate Right or wrong he let her die because he knew she'd be his downfall and death. He was there to help Jesse in the first place anyway.
Aerochalklate yeh, when a person threatens your livelihood because you don’t want someone you care about to die, I believe it isn’t too uncalled for that person to part themselves from existence
If Walt was smart, he would’ve gone with him. He needed to learn to put aside what he did and don’t want to do, in favor of building a relationship with the one person who has his back. Even if he hates go-karting, going with Jesse would have built so much trust between them.
But the director said no..
@@aleemlatif9299 youre absolutely right, he did say no. But we arent talking about outside the show, we're talking about in universe. Its called immersion i think, but yes, he did say no
@@spiderfingers2113 why did he say no? :(
@@therealmr.incredible3179 asking all the real questions
That's the difference between intelligence and wisdom.
Jesse was so traumatised by everything else in the series that he's not even fazed by Walt's underwear anymore
It's the opposite, he could stomach everything else precisely because he was desensitized by Mr White's underwear
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
So that was the moment Jesse was desensitized to Walt’s underwear…
Maybe Walt should change to fashionable thong underwear...
GEEZ you've had a sheltered life then. Shooting people and you think a few pairs of white undies are going to set him off...
This should've been #1 in Top 10 worst things Walter White has done
😂
It is tho, next to walt Jr not getting breakfast
Walt: ignores his desire to hang out
Also Walt: are you okay? Anything we should talk about ?!
No, Walt realised too slow that Jesse made him an offer that he needed to accept. Jesse’s push back made it clear how disingenuous Walt appeared.
He was always testing to see if Jesse was still his bitch. And people dare to say that Walt cared about Jesse lmfao.
@@TovenDo.O.Video- He did. Otherwise he wouldn't tell Jack that Jesse's like family and not to kill him painfully. He wouldn't have killed someone for Jesse even if it caused problems with his boss and endangered him. He wouldn't have saved him from Jack and his men after looking at how they kept him. There were a lot of other scenes which showed that he did care about Jesse. Idk why you people don't look at other details about Walt to make him look like the most evil person who doesn't care about anything in the show. I'm not saying he never manipulated Jesse but he definitely cared about him.
@@a.f9173 didn’t he literally kill two guys for Jessie
1:03 : such a desperate look on his face when Walter says "no" to GoKart

@@stoneman_00 Nice beak
They should have shot a sequence in the bloopers when you can see Walt actually enjoying himself on go kart with Jesse.
Bryan Cranston would probably have been totally down to shoot the scene too lol
Yeah that's would've been awesome and hilarious
@@PhantomJavelin walts at the starting line that stone face of heisenberg then the green light and his face just lights up like a kid on christmas.
@@Josh-it6uy you just want to go karting, dont you?
Heisenberg wouldn't do it but Hal would.
0:55 can we just appreciate Aaron's acting...like his eyes, man
You can clearly see how much he wanted to go and have some fun for a while with someone, with so less words...and when Walt rejects him
I can't put in words how good his acting is like how good he conveys the emotions. I think that's why i was so much more connected to him than anyone else.
Every other actor was soo good too. Like everyone.
So we should appreciate the director too for putting the story forward in such a way.
BRAVO VINCE
aaron paul really does have some of the best eye acting i’ve ever seen on TV
Yeah if only he could apply that same level of talent now.
Biggest disappointment of the series was Walt not go karting with Jesse.
never kept that raincheck, what a bastard lol
Man I just wanna hug Jesse
;-;
My god I want to hug him during almost all the serie!
I want to adopt him.
Same, i feel bad for this poor kid, even when he has ruined people's lives.
There's so much innocence and purity hidden in him that's corrupted by demons and his harsh surroundings. It hurts so much every time when he gets hurt or hints his call for help. He's so relatable and well written that it's unreal
Look around you, and see how many real life jesse pinkmans there are out there, and hug one of them.
Walt died missing out on life, making a second son out of Jessie, missing his family, not being there for his daughter, all because he wanted to be greedy and in charge.
did u forget he had cancer and had little time left anyway
This is the moment that @comradeweedityy1648 forgot Walt had cancer
@@idkreallyty What does that have to do with anything? He still lived for several years post diagnosis. He wasted the time he had left ruining everything.
Walter never following up on this rain check was a real inflection point in the relationship between the two
I love how a lot of significant moments on BrBa are easy to miss, or maybe I'm just that blind
If they included a scene with Jesse riding go karts with Walt this show would’ve been 10 times better
it would kill the plot bro it just doesn’t fit with walters ego
@Abbe339 how?
@@Abbe339just cause Walt has an ego the size of Albuquerque doesn’t mean they could go to another city somewhere and go go karting or something. People wouldn’t even know who they were at this time. Walt is just a pos plain and simple
I wish Jesse and Walt would have actually hung out. There’s very few moments in this show, when the two are happy and having a good time together.
Jesse: “Want to go go karting?”
Walt: …
--
Cut to Walter getting home, a go kart ticket falls out of his jacket
Walt Jr.: “Daaad! You didn’t invite me?!”
Walt: “It was a work friend thing.”
“How ya doing?” Dude he asked you to chill that means he would have talked about it while go karting
"Violation of the workspace"
Walt later that day on the phone with H.I.P.P.A.:
"Yeah the meth lab that I work at is violating our privacy"
0:44 He wanted to do something besides making and taking drugs!😭💖
Poor Jesse just wanted to hang out with his work buddy.
Also, sweet jacket.
Jesse was reaching out to Walt. The only person who showed any care of him. He didn’t wanna ride go karts with Walt, he wanted to spend someone who he thought cared about him
I feel so bad that Jesse wanted him to go go-karting w him cuz he really needed a friend but Walt rejected him.
One of my favourite moments honestly, Aaron Pauls acting is imo, on par with Bryans, that fucking look he gives is absolutely perfect.
He's asking him how he's doing but he could have just gone karting with Jesse and made him feel better without having to ask that question.
This is like one of those scenes where you have to do some sort of side activity with a character to progress. But ofc Walt declines.
"Yo, Mr. White. Let’s go go-karting."
Chemistry is the study of transformation
Change.
Walter changes into someone who doesn't care about his family and is into drugs. Jesse changes into someone who hates the drug crime life, and seems to want connections, i.e. a family. Walter's family was loving, Jesse's was distant, yet they changed polarities. During this transformation they met in the middle and connected, but were distant in the beginning and ending of the series because they had so thoroughly changed.
@@johnhein2539 astute
*Walt said "change", not transformation.*
When Jesse asked Walt to go go-karting with him his eyes were so wide and expectant. How could you say no to that face, but Walt did. Jesse really needed him and as usual Walt pushed him aside.
Always felt like Walt being a father figure to Jesse was compensating for Walt Jr being disabled. He saw more of himself in Jesse than he ever did in Jr.
i think so too
That's pretty sad, given that he turned out to be the worst father figure ever to the both of them. I think having any family was always going to chafe on him
He should of said yes. It could of changed up their relationship. Like +1 friendship type stats.
I hate Walt and I think he treated Jesse like shit for the most part but we gotta give him a pass on this one.
He did have a meeting (about buying the carwash). Why he choses to not say it's with Saul or phrase it like "I kind of have a meeting" which makes it seems like he's making excuses not to go is anyone's guess.
he could have had said that they would after the meeting if he really wanted to share time with Jessie.
@@Saephaan Yeah. I think he didn't really want to associate with Jesse outside of work and didn't really see the go cart invite as a cry for help.
It was pretty obvious to me at this point that Jesse cared more about their relationship than Walter did. This was further evidence that Walt didn't want to be around or associated with Jesse in matters that didn't involve his personal needs. Kind sad really.
Yup. And the only time he asks Jesse to stay over for dinner is just to piss Skyler off.
This is where Jesse was calling out to Walt for help
Walt always asked Jesse how he was doing, because Walt knew Jesse couldn’t handle the life, jesse has a good heart and Walt knew that all this was taking a toll on him..
THIS HURTS TO WATCH
Cover your knees up if you’re gonna be walking around here.
I really like to boil my steaks in milk
Paul Aaron acting is incredible
This is the moment Jesse went go-karting
The sad part is how this kind of situation isn't too far from reality where people miss the moments where people like Jesse try reach out. Walt had the chance to really make a difference for Jesse's mental, but once he missed the QTE Jesse already checked out of the topic when asked directly.
If this show was a Telltale game, by the end it would probably show that 99.999% of the other players chose to go Go-Karting with Jesse...
That time Jesse awkward moment when Jesse asked Walt out on a date…
He killed a man for you least you could do is go go-karting with him :(
Few episodes later Walt is just drifting and having fun in the mustang before crashing it in a ditch lol
Walt’s tightie-whities are their own character.
Fun Fact: Bill Burr was standing directly behind the camera while this scene was being filmed.
Which one?
Fun fact: Tony Dalton and Patrick fabian were lying directly UNDER the camera while this scene was being filmed! Matter of fact you can probably see where they are!
Jesse should have asked Lalo and Howard to go go karting with him
Man I feel for Jesse.. Poor lad just being told "No" after inviting Walt out has to hurt
That surveillance camera was acting it's ass off.....it should have won an oscar
A scene with Jesse and Walt doing GoKarts would be beautiful
Jesse needed a father figure so bad and this simple rejection on Walt’s part set Jesse up to be manipulated by Gus.
Whether it’s Breaking Bad or Fullhouse, I recognize that dramatic stairwell stride
Yeah your comment made me realize that Vince Gilligan totally failed here by not adding the music of sadness that plays at the end of every Full House episode while the characters solve their differences 🤣🤣🤣.
The quiet scenes are the most chilling.
this scene sparks hope in me that they both do care for each other before everything just went down tragically
I’d go go karting with you Jesse
It's not us he needs to go kart with though :( Dammit waltuh
This is the exact moment Walter became a go-kart hater
Jesse just needed a big hug from a true friend!
This is such a nice, casual scene between the two!
“Yes Jesse, I will go with you.”
Walter knew Jesse was hurting he really couldn’t have gone go karting
They didn’t go to the go karts, but at least they got to create their own Mezcal brand ;-;
This is the moment Walt became irredeemable
this is the moment jessie became a go-kart
Maybe I am mistaken but I don't think Jesse was asking Walt to go go-karting. II think there was something he wanted to say that he couldn't say now that there are cameras. But at the time they were only seeing each other at work, so he needed to get to Walt while not at work.
But from these comments Im reading I feel like I read too much into it and he was just asking to go go-karting.
He just wanted a friend 😢😢😢
“Don’t worry…it’s gonna be like I’m not even here.” - Lalo Salamanca
Walt not go karting with Jesse is when he really became irredeemable
0:30 Walter Calls OSHA "End Credits"
Should have invited him to the isleta casino instead, Walter seems like more of a casino person than a family fun center person
Jesse should have asked Saul and they could've laser tagged afterwards
I feel like if Walter accepted this invite they would've probably ended up having a better relationship causing things to turn out better in the end.
Is there a way I can follow these clips through from now until the end of the show?
This is the part where Jesse invited Walt to the go karts.
I think at the end walt ended up caring for Jesse more than anyone else, even more than his own family
Given everything he did to Jesse, I'd say that was the least he could do
It is so weird that while the shows writers had no intention, Jesse ends up being the main protagonist in the series. Just takes a while to realize.
It’s these little moments that I love
The finale should have ended with Jesse and Walt go karting
By far the worst thing walt did was turn down GO carting with jesse
My poor sweet Jesse. Walt didn’t deserve him. I hate Walt
0:39 the walter face, do what 😂😂
You can say whatever you want about breaking bad as a whole. I didn't like much of it myself years ago when it first came out. But after all the crap that has been produced since, it sure is one hell of a show. Maybe one of the best ever.
Jesse is so alone here . A drug addict fighting to stay clean .
This was sad because Walt didn’t say “I can’t”
Or “sorry I can’t make it” he straight up said “No”
Cameras were just installed where I work and I immediately thought of Breaking Bad.
Howard and Lalo probably would've wanted to go with Jesse, shoulda asked them
1:00 this is the moment Walt became Heisenberg
And everyone lived happily ever after
If Walt just went go-karting with Jesse he may have become more content with his job, and his relationship with Jesse. The devastating actions he took might have been prevented - he could work for Gus, make millions, and go home to his family.
Probably not, but who knows!
Worst thing ever happened to Jesse, was meeting walter white
Walter's pride was his downfall. Pride cometh before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Jesse should have mentioned Rollerblading instead
They could never afford that kind of workspace in New York. What a sick joke.
Seeing Walt in tighty whiteys made me throw out every old pair I had in my drawer. My God, what were we thinking?
I always liked the Jacket that Jesse wears in this scene I want it haha
This is where Walt BECOMES Heisendurg
This is by far the worst thing Walter has done
Biggest crime did by Walter
just picture that scene in Clerks II where Dante and Randall go go-karting but with Jesse and Walt
What if Walt went on this Go Kart venture the show would be entirely different
I feel so bad for Jesse. I’ll go go karting with him. Like who would resist go karts
Jesse's last line should be the only thing on his wiki page.
