    Brilliant video, now I know what those lights are for (there are FOUR lights.. :) ) and when to flare. Made it so simple, thanks.

      The lights are called PAPI: Precision Approach Path Indicator

    Very helpful video. Most of the video on landing are too technical but thanks to you i see what I was doing wrong now.

    You should include the landing speed for the Diamond Da40 NG as well (I think its 72-78 or so) on your chart, since it's a great beginner plane as well, and used on lots of mission packs that are available.

      I've been meaning to come back and add the final landing speeds for more of the GA aircraft to the show notes, but haven't had the time. Thanks for contributing the DA40 speed :)

    (Or you could make sure you’re about 1500ft above the runway level at 5NM distance?)

    Do you have a video on doing an ILS landing of when, how , or if you even need to activate the approach.? When I do an ILS or r nav it doesn't seem like activating the approach does anything

      Hi Rickie, nice to hear from you. I have a few actually; here's an RNAV approach: ua-cam.com/video/LopLjdZnYLs/v-deo.html, an old-school ILS approach here: ua-cam.com/video/LopLjdZnYLs/v-deo.html, and I also have another that'll be coming out on Feb 10th that'll explain VNAV & APR mode in detail. In the meantime, remember that all the APR mode does is enable vertical guidance on an ILS or RNAV approach. Is it descending on the glide path automatically for you?

      @@FlightSimSchool Yeah I'm aware and know how to fly arnav and ILS approach mode and everything I was just curious about when going into procedures and when you would click on activate approach

      I switch from nav to apr just before the final approach fix, which is where the glide slope would come alive for an ils

    Hey thanks for the video! My only question is: should you still be using flair with a taildragger like the one used in the video? Wouldn't that cause you to land on the tailwheel?

    • @FlightSimSchool
      @FlightSimSchool  2 роки тому +2

      That's a great question! I did a bit of research at the time and there is still a flare for a taildragger, you want to flare just enough so that all three wheels touch down at the same time, but I think this is pretty hard to do in the sim without "feeling it" like in a real airplane.

    what about the flaps though? When do you use them?

    • @FlightSimSchool
      @FlightSimSchool  Рік тому +1

      Flaps are different based on every airplane, some need full flaps for landing, others it’s the notch before full flaps. It’s really best to look at the airplane you’re flying. I covered flaps in depth here though: ua-cam.com/video/kziTUCf55jY/v-deo.html

    Being a pilot, I could care less about the PAPI lights/glideslope in VFR. It’s a tool that’s it. Glance at it but DONT fixate on it in real life

    With all my respect. But it has to be said. Microsoft became a circus of video games for children. To such a degree of converting an achievement as advanced as being able to extract as accurately as possible the reality of the science of why and how an airplane flies. To end up engulfed by a tsunami of graphic designers I have engineers and system activists in thousands of its branches. The only thing I want to tell you, that even the respect for education was lost. Now any clown opens a youtube channel facebok or instagram and other social networks. To catapult even with such audacity to charge money for memberships. Clowns who don't even know what Vernollie's principle is. But they are created with the knowledge of instructing and giving techniques of how the segments of an aircraft are controlled in any of us modalities, Free, mechanical human, motorized by locomotion or reaction. Boys. You pass as an excuse because you do not know. But Microsoft. You have to respect. the more than 100 years of the evolution of aviation and the years of hard work to simulate it. Respect Please Microsoft. by the same microsoft. Tomorrow they will invent a video game about plastic surgeons. And we will see a million idiots giving tutorials on UA-cam for likes on how to do an open heart operation.
    the idea of simulating is that simulating. Don't pretend.
