Funny Colonel Stephen. Glad to see you and yours out and about together. I love historic places like York Town. Goes to show you that Freedom IS NOT FREE and you have to fight for it to KEEP IT. I pray that you and yours have a blessed healthy Happy New Year.
Great video with your family and a bit of history. Loved seeing the area. Thank you and Happy New Year to you and your family. Great New Year for everyone and hopefully better.
Thanks for the great historical tour of somewhere I’ll never get to see in person. All your sightseeing videos are wonderful- thanks for taking us along and sharing your time.
Well I sure enjoyed that walking tour of Yorktown! That was really nice of you to include us. Love looking at the houses, yards, roads, etc.. together with your commentary. Thanks again and continue to enjoy the family!
Very nice. The houses look so fancy but simple. Thanks so much for taking us on the tour. That's somewhere I no I could never go and see.It was Beautiful.Thank you much.
I’ve visited Yorktown and walked where our forebears fought for our independence. It’s humbling. I remember driving down a narrow street under a bridge, jumping out of the car to pick some flowers. Someone yelled at me because it was illegal to pick the native flower, or so he said. Oops. Too late. Yorktown was one of my favorites. Jamestown was just a memory, but it was an original settlement. Nothing built was to be permanent. It’s been 30 years since I visited. I remember an archway of a crumbling church and a church built over graves or graves placed under the floor of the church. Some coffins were exposed and there was a glass floor. It was daunting. Sadly I don’t have pictures of most of it. I wasn’t much of a picture taker, ever. Always thought I could rely on memory, but not so. Things blur and run together. I was very young. I love touring our eastern United States. I’ve been to many of our 13 original colonies. It was my goal to visit all, but I may not make it to a few. Thank you for sharing. Great family.
Glad to see you in our neck of the woods!!! Know you're happy to join your family for Christmas. Thank you for your videos from the UAE. Enjoy them very much.
Hi Steve Ritter, This brought back fond memories. When I was a tween, we moved to Newport News from Europe. Dad was an AF lifer. Went to Yorktown and Jamestown a number of times. Thank you for sharing.
Loved this Steve. Glad you are home spending time with your family. Thanks for taking us along. Enjoy all your videos. I am a native Virginian. Love our history.
Nice video ..Great seeing the kids!!! Oh so cool coffee house, sipping a good cuppa & watching the ghosties floating around! Thanks for the tour! Stay safe & see you soon
Great tour but your family was so fun..your sons are so handsome I've enjoyed your cooking videos with them.. your Bella is so witty and pretty. Tell her we are waiting for her cookie baking!! So was that huge family part of the Ravishing Mrs. Ritters side? What a treat for everyone to be together. Dubai is shooting fireworks off the roof of the tallest building you gave us a tour of...bet you are glad you can be home with family to ring in the new year instead of stuck there!! Enjoy every minute.
Diane S from Maryland ( Eastern Shore). Just loved the historic tour you gave us. In case I never get there, you made it feel we came along. Thank you for sharing.. A blessed New Year to you and family
Omg! Your Children and their sense of Humor, Riot! Benjamin's quick with his wit and charm. Colornel there is no denying anyone of them. So happy to see Bella and she played her part just as well as the Cadet. LOL, finally saw the RMR but would never be able to pick her out in a crowd! Bet she's happy about that. I hope you all have a wonderful New Year, and am so glad you all got to be together for the Holidays!
This is a great tour! I love the houses. It’s wonderful seeing more of the family. Great weather for this too. I’ve been to Williamsburg but not here. I’m glad you’re all having a good time and making great memories. Take care!
Thanks so much for filming this for all of us. Very interesting to see and hear the history. I love the old houses. Cool to see the cannon balls stuck in the houses. I would never have seen this if it wasn't for you. Along with other places you've filmed. Thank you so much again. for taking the time to share. You have a beautiful family. Tell Mrs. Ritter hello. 💜
Oh Steven, that kid of yours is hilarious!! He looks so much like you, too, and has your goofy personality. A true treasure. I loved this video, because I enjoy history so much. Very charming city! Happy New Year! 🎊
Enjoyed the video...I have an interest in the Revolutionary War as an ancestral Grandfather, his twin and 2 bothers fought in the war...he died just short of 105 years
I miss Phyllis. I went back last week and watched many of her old videos. She was not only a good cook but an Angel and kind to everyone here. I miss her and Bucky.
Awwh Ritters!!!! What an awesome gift you have given us! The tour was amazing!!! Your John Lexington appears a bit bow-legged! :) What a wonderful job he did with it. You cracking up at him just had me rolling!!! Ah the Beautiful Bella! I have missed her. She can pull out an spot-on accent!! Those eyes! First a reflection, and now the backside! We are wearing The RMR down! I can feel it! :) I can tell that Will isn't completely down with all this, but he rolls with it and I, for one, totally appreciate it. He seems a bit moody and broody (So does Nathan, if I'm honest, and nothing wrong with that) and I loved his album cover pose! :) If I had my Husband in Yorktown, it would have to be in chains or leg irons. He is a metal detecting buff. He would be knocking on doors and attempting to seek permissions. I would have to go bail him out of the hoosegow, I just know it! Thank you Thank you so much for the video lesson and the visit with your wonderful talented Family! Great Nephew truly is a beautiful baby! Wishing you all a Safe, Happy & Healthy New Year!
I'm lucky enough to live in an historic destination town similar to this, but smaller, here on the west coast of Canada. A lot of tourists come here, especially in summer. That's why Winter's are nice and quiet! We live next to a century old graveyard. Thanks for the tour!
Oh Steve, I loved this tour! I will no doubt watch it again and again! I was born in Ada and raised north of Durant in Oklahoma - east a ways from where your wife is from. My g-grandparents were named Green, and I never thought much about it until David really got into both sides of our genealogy. Turns out my Green-line goes straight back to Fredericksburg and George Washington’s aunt and uncle, Henry and Mildred (Washington) Willis. I talked to an older cousin to find out if she knew anything about it and she said, yes, it is true. I’ve always had a special interest into colonial America, but never knew we had a connection to it. Colonial Williamsburg is one of my favorite places, been there twice and would love to go again and spend several days! Same for the entire area! Especially Fredericksburg! Oh, and those re-enactors were hilarious! Had me there for a moment! But of course the “6-star General” was a dead giveaway! And the far too modern dress! Ha!
What a fun and funny video. I absolutely love seeing all the old buildings. This was such a wonderful walk down history lane. Fantastic seeing the family together ❤️.
That was awesome! My husband was stationed in the Navy in Norfolk, Va 1972-1975. He was at Little Creak Navy base. He actually worked for a short time at the museum on base. We had some fun times living in Norfolk.
Virginia has so much history. I grew up and still live here...except I am on the other side of the state. It has been great traveling around my state over the years....seeing all the history it has to offer. Williamsburg, Jamestown, Arlington...but have not been to Yorktown..yet. It is still on my list. Thanks for taking us. Beautiful family!!
Your family is so much fun. Loved the history in this video and seeing the cannon balls in the walls. The homes are so pretty. Would love to live in one of those homes. Hope you all have a blessed New Year as well as all your viewers! 🎉
You and your family members bring us great videos. I would never get to see places like this so, I'm so grateful you show us so many beautiful places. God Bless and Happy New Year.
Many of those old houses are private residences. I'm sure there is some covenants governing what that can and can't do to the homes. Furnishings? Not sure I'd want to sit in on 18th century couch! LOL!
Just beautiful, thanks for sharing it and your family with us. Glad your enjoying your time home. Happy, Healthy New Year to you all. Stay well and safe.
