As a fellow s2000 owner/ car geek. I can say a few things. 1 increasing horsepower on an s2000 and being able to put it down is the hardest part especially on track. But 350hp with 285’s in the rear is the remedy. The biggest thing some cars guys don’t get is tires man. You couldn’t perform like this with a stock tire set up. Absolutely incredible machine it sounds killer! Its fast puts it down. Major props to the driver and owner and it’s a gorgeous car as well. Really super. But to answer the initial post. No a supercharger will not ruin the k for the track with the right suspension and tires supporting it. Well done!
Nice! Definitely weird to see you a little out of sorts behind the wheel of a S2K 😅. I have an AP1 with the first generation of the HKS GT kit. I love it! It’s screams with barely any whine from the blower and still feels like an n/a s2000 to me with the right amount of power. Mine dyno’d @ 362 hp to the wheels and 227 torque. Can’t wait to see you do another shakedown with this car once the owner gets it dialed in a little more 👍🏾.
362whp AP1 sounds intense. I love how you can barely tell there's forced induction with the HKS kit. Not a fan of supercharger whine or dulled throttle response in a car like the S2K.
Nice, I almost supercharged mine, but was advised to go with a small twin scroll turbo instead for reliability. I just got it back, and it's making 420 WHP. I've taken it out twice but both times was in the rain. Can't wait to get it out in the dry. It is so fast now, and I would say that the slight trade off with turbo lag is worth it and did not ruin the car for me, thank goodness! I absolutely love it now!
That's the first I've heard about turbo>supercharger for reliability. I've been thinking about going with an SOS supercharger for mine for that exact reason, but I'll look into going turbo now. What kit, if any, did you go with?
@@garrettblack1259 it all depends on the quality of the kit. The engine will be reliable. The trans/diff is the weak point. My stock trans and diff took a good beating but I never launched the car.
Can't wait to see what Seigo does once he masters this setup. I think the next DIY mod should be a DRS system or something, car looked like it was getting very draggy above 110.
Nice to see some FI S2000 content imo 350-400 is the sweet spot for s2k potential (still very raw and interactive but not overpowered and uncontrollable) now id love see your thoughts on k swapped and then fi k swapped s2ks
GREAT job Fenton. Obviously not ruined with a SC, but could require a bit more time behind the wheel to take full advantage? All in all, that was fun as hell to watch, and I can only imagine what a gas it was shooting this. Thank You!
I enjoyed that video (again)! I noticed increased turn-in on throttle lift in my car too after adding boost. I got used to that pretty quickly, but it's corner exit that's tricky for me now, rolling on throttle with 420+ WHP. Slight turbo lag actually helps a small amount there... but you gotta get the rotation done before boost hits too hard!
Used to watching you go 100% non stop full throttle whenever you upload driving your one. Does seem a little odd to watch you drive an S2K where you have to let off at times. I guess with more torque it allows the driver to be more smooth, but with na and less torque you can go all out and push the car and engine harder. Do you prefer driving a 'slow' car fast or a fast car slow?
Probably should be back to 4.1 final. Also I think you can probably take the ap2 motor to 8400 without much downside which may lend a little bit longer in each gear.
My very first track day over a decade ago, I took a last-session ride in Jei's 400 whp Blacktrax supercharged S2000 and poo nearly came out twice, first when we ripped past 120 on the main straight and second when we spun into the infield over the bypass. That car was sold or crashed long ago but it sealed the deal for me that the S2000 was going to be tough to beat in fun-per-dollar and that if I ever got bored with it, FI would fix that in a jiffy. Still have mine and still waffling about FI after all this time. 😂 Anyone know if Blacktrax's 2Buck S2000 time has ever been beat at Buttonwillow?
God damn that thing sounds nice and looks like an absolute blast. I'm looking to get into an S2K this summer. If it was you Zy, would you take a stock car or look for one with a supercharger?
Looking at the mod list, have you by any chance have Roll centre adjusters installed front and back? I did an install on mine, and it made the breakaway really incredible and the toe adjustment on the S2k really affects the handling and break away characteristics. I had tracked an oem Ap1, and I was told it felt like an AP2 with the RCA. Believe with RCA the Ap2 chasis would do increadibly well and makes it very easy and vary compliant.. maybe give this a try and see how it feels? imho RCA is totally worth it! AMAZING driving lines btw!
What engine mgmt? If it's flashpro I would adjust the throttle tables. I did this on my car and it helps tip in quite a bit. I'd imagine especially because you have boost from the SC. But, if you look at the hondata throttle table honda has a more "aggressive" map that opens the throttle plate more for the same pedal travel at higher rpms. Just tone it down I've felt that helps a lot. Also a big wang helps tone things down a lot. I have a turbo track s2k and was amazed how much the big wang makes a big difference to tame the car down. Previously tracked it NA w/o a wing and with the wing and boost it's less scary as the rear end is planted.
Can you share the name (or link) of the adapter that retains the cruise control, and the steering hub used please? Really enjoy your drives in S2Ks and the C6 Z06 track vid - keep up the great work!
I'd humbly suggest there's something wrong being indicated with the dyno graph. A centri shouldn't be laying over in high rpms more obviously than stock. Maybe belt slip or undersized head unit?
Too aggressive / early on throttle mid corner, that thing is not a stock S2K easy there hero 😂 snap oversteer galore, and go get fresh undies! Nice driving as usual 👍🏼
I've had one of those bull text wings for at least 4 years now. I've driven the car with and without the wing at different events because of classing rules, and I can say that the wing dramatically helps a tail-happy car in situations like the tip-in issue Zygrene mentioned, turning over a hil crest,l or a long fast turn like Sunset at Buttonwillow. You will lose a small amount of top speed going down the streets even at the lowest AOC but your lap times will still go down because of cornering stability.
Why would a supercharger ruin a car's track ability, especailly if it is centrifugal? WTA cars have twin turbos which introduce turbo lag and they are competitive track cars...
With a Supercharger you get instant power like an NA setup and will still sound like an NA. A turbo will spool up and be somewhat sluggish and two faced and difficult to power out of corners. And the engine will be muffled. Plus maintenance nightmare.
That suspension is what’s really impressive, looks super stable
JRZ RS Pro 2/3 ways with proper setup are the bee's knees
Sheeeeesh, that looks so fast. Would love to drive that S2k.

the stock tires on the thing are teeny. 245s on the ap2! thats slightly larger than a civic...

A turbo s2000 is much faster than a supercharged one making the same power

Love this video! The subs were so awesome and fun. More track days with subs from zygrene please
That video reminded me so much of Jackie Ding's first viral vids.
Only problem with this car is all the 911 Turbos holding you up on track days.
Great car, great video! Fun caps. You really know how to shoot them!

Yup, this footage was pretty much unedited. Only got a few laps in. Next time I think I'll be a lot more comfortable.

Looks like a lot more fun than the z06 to me! This power level seems to be the sweet spot @zyrgene!

I own a kitcar running a supercharged s2000 motor, 680kg 397 crank hp, great motors and really complemented with the chargers extra torque and power
How can it be too much for the chassis when your right foot ultimately controls the power you put down at any moment

What is the torque output ? It just seems to be slow accelerating , relatively for a 350whp s2000 . ❤️🇦🇺👍

Yeah just like Misha at the nurburgring sometimes does...😮
Getting close to 120 mph is serious speed at Thill East
It looks so much faster than any s2k you have driven on track. It looks father than the type r you drove.

Any clearance issues on the inside running that wheel set up?
