You’ll love it. I read all the books. It’s definitely worth the money and you’ll learn about the similarities and differences between the games and the books.
drunk_yoda Well, the books are all different from the games. In the books, there are some different characters, like an old man named homer, who hasn’t appeared in any of the previous games. Metro 2033 the book is very similar to Metro 2033 the game, but if you read Metro 2034, there is no parts from the game in the story. The book is mostly with two of the main characters, Homer and Hunter. Metro 2035 is mainly Homer and Artyom. The only spoiler I can say to keep people from killing me right now is the ending of the book with Artyom and his Wife Anna heading away from the Metro. The book Metro 2035, according to numerous sources including the author, is that it is the last of the trilogy. I hope that this gives clarity to the books somewhat similarites and differences. 😁 Also, I’d definitely read the books so you too can understand these similarites and differences.

lol late reply but, they actually used the same soundtrack in the first metro trailer. Which made me think that it might be even more scarier like the first game
SPOILER! Ironic about this trailer: During this monent in game, Anna is not even able to walk, so Miller (Мельник) gives us a hand. While in the video she is clearly well. I like how developers covered this spoiler.
Nice try but if you look when Artyom pulls out his map you can see it looks wildly different from in the game. My point being that the developers changed numerous things throughout the game and probably hadn’t thought of the idea of Anna not walking yet. But good observing for what it’s worth.
Everyone who could launched their nukes and could be thought of as destroyed. Before that, the USSR was still around, though relations had warmed with the west; Europe was organized into the European Commonwealth which had charged into the Middle East for their oil in the 2050s. When that ran out, the European Commonwealth broke down and started to fight itself. There were some drafts of a game of a British unit fighting its way across Italy and France to get back home, but they never became anything.
I don't think it's underrated. I haven't seen an article or comment about this game which does not praise it for it's design. I'd say it's under appreciated by many, mostly players who have forgoten the charm of a good, linear shooter with an intriguing story and setting.

Metro is a really unique game. You receive more than expect. Every character is alive, even bandits have their motivation and reason to be where they are, and player can explore it during the game. Find out about events that took place before your arrival, fate of the people who have gone. Interaction between all the members of the crew also really natural and feels flawless despite Artem always being mute. A few days ago I was heading from parking and an old man(~67 y.o.) who is watching over it started to talk to me. We discussed times of Soviet Union and this man felt as one of the characters of metro. For a second I thought that I inside the game. Guys have done pretty amazing job. Though Ubisoft spends dozens times more money on their products than 4A Games, their recent games comparing to Metro feels fake and uninteresting. I would love to see more games like Metro in the market. Please continue creating this amazing experience, can't wait to see farther development of Artem and his comrades.

In November 2019 I will be visiting Moscow for a few weeks and I'm going to attempt to retrace the journey Artyom made in the novel Metro 2033. I'll make a vlog of this expedition, traveling on the Metro from station to station throughout the underground sections of the book and retracing Artyom's route over the surface sections. When it comes to D-6 I will head up to the surface once again for a long cold walk. The finale will be heading to Ostankino tower from ВДНХ and up to the observation deck or restaurant, subject to prevailing conditions. Dmitry Glukhovsky has given me permission to use quotes from his book Metro 2033 for voiceovers and I'll use parts of the soundtrack and sounds from the game Metro 2033 to finish the production. If anyone has any tips or requests on the type of filming for the video be sure to write them in the comments. Cheers Rhian.
Spoilers from the last Book, Metro 2035: The air is completely safe to breath outside of Moscow, and even in parts of Moscow, there's a major conspiracy relating to how "unlivable" the outside world is. The whole Metro factions fighting was observed by the remnants of Russian government outside of Moscow. It's pretty much obvious that Metro Exodus divulges more onto that conspiracy.
MyLostTemple Dude, many people said Metro 2034 was dissapointing. I dont want to start reading this sequdl if its going to suck. Please tell, is it worth it?
zairuku No. It's pretty clear that their was definitely a massive war that wiped out the majority of human civilization, beginning with the assumed exchange between Israel and Iran. In the books cities like St. Petersburg and London are destroyed, indicating that this isn't some twisted experiment where only Moscow was nuked as an experiment. The government however does still exist, as after the nuclear exchange between NATO and Russia the two sides actually switched to conventional means and began bombing each other with conventional weaponry for a limited time. The conspiracy with the Russian government is the fact that they exist but refuse to make contact with the survivors of the war and remain hidden rather than try to reunite the country or provide aid of some kind.
Well the government ran off to east of the Urals, as talked about in Last Light, so it's quite likely. It's the natural direction for the story to go into: The Moscow Metro's story is just about over, with the demise of the Reds. My money is on Artyom setting out on a scouting type mission to look for whatever may remain of the government.
Russian government is in separeted and luxury bunker near metro. Even leader of government visits metro as anonymous person, which enjoys prostitutes etc...They control happening in metro through negotiations with red leaders, nazi leaders and even with polis etc...they want to keep ppl inside of metro, so they "attract" them with local fights and wars. In fact, whole metro is under one control and its russian government, which wants moscow metro to look dead for rest of world, because world war still continues. Its reason, why red line and polis cooperate (according comand of government) on building of huge signal jammers against radio from abroad and againts ppl's finding out, that world is alive. People would go outside and spread, but if russian enemies knew about living metro, they would have destroyed it. Artyom found out it, so he went outside and he wants to discover, if somebody else survived. He didnt want to stay in metro, which was like coffin for him. He feels cheated too, because a lot of his polis friends died in fight with red soldiers and he found out, that its just sick political game.
Guys think about it, how many years have passed since the other games so humans are able to go outside withouts masks and also have a train installed i m so hyped about this
It wasn't a death sentence to go outside without a gas mask. In epilogue for 2033 Artem frequently visits the ashes of Botanical Garden without a mask when feels a need to contemplate and think about his sins. edit. I mean epilogue of book

This is the best game trailer I've ever watched. I purchased Exodus in a heartbeat because of this trailer. I even played this exact theme song on loop throughout my 1st playthrough. It goes so well with the *DEAD CITY* mission. I wish they kept the original plot of having multiple passengers on the Aurora. The health and safety of the passengers was going to depend on Artyom's progress and choices. That was way better than what we ended up with. They should've just kept the story in Moscow instead of what we got. Anyway, I love the game. One of the best experiences out there.
Yeah, some of those animations could be very interesting for immersion, but I don't think you'll have grabbing a magazine from the hands of a skeleton in the game, it would be a bit too long imo xD
I bet everything is scripted in this video. Every single second, every move of everything. It's 100% script, just in-engine. And they will have made sure that every pixel looks good in it. It looks awesome for a trailer and of course this is a million times better than fake pre-rendered videos that show no actual in-engine footage, but don't get your hopes up that the final game will ever look as smooth and real as this scripted trailer here.
Yo, I played both of the two last metro games, and they will look like this. It won't be this scripted, of course. Thats a given, all I'm saying is that graphically-wise, its gonna be exactly like this :)

ARTYOOOOOOOOMM!!!
This is the best game trailer i've ever watched. Gameplay focused yet contains cinematic footage. Simple and shows everything new about gameplay. Music is great. Totally awesome....
AND the game is really that good looking on launch! no downgrade!
I can't wait for this game. Want it so much I'm buying the books.
You’ll love it. I read all the books. It’s definitely worth the money and you’ll learn about the similarities and differences between the games and the books.
spoiler?
drunk_yoda Well, the books are all different from the games.
Much the want so it books buying I'm.

Notice how they are playing 28 days later music? Makes it very creepy and very entertaining with the creepy vibe where you truly feel like a survivor. Hope the game turns out awesome
LopsidedEdits The first 2 were amazing and the best part of them for me was the atmosphere
lol late reply but, they actually used the same soundtrack in the first metro trailer. Which made me think that it might be even more scarier like the first game
John Murphy is a fucking genius in the studio. It's a truly iconic piece of music.
SPOILER!
Ironic about this trailer:
During this monent in game, Anna is not even able to walk, so Miller (Мельник) gives us a hand. While in the video she is clearly well.
I like how developers covered this spoiler.
Nice catch
What are you talking about? when developers put out trailer's the game isn't even finished.
"Covered this spoilers" yeah right
Nice try but if you look when Artyom pulls out his map you can see it looks wildly different from in the game. My point being that the developers changed numerous things throughout the game and probably hadn’t thought of the idea of Anna not walking yet. But good observing for what it’s worth.
Joseph you do realize that the majority of a games story is finished before the actual real development on the game even starts?

Now that you brought it up. What happened to Russia and Europe in the Fallout universe anyway
If is hostile, you kill it.

The most underrated game franchise.
better to be underrated rather than overrated.
The most stupid virgin in the world
I don't think it's underrated. I haven't seen an article or comment about this game which does not praise it for it's design. I'd say it's under appreciated by many, mostly players who have forgoten the charm of a good, linear shooter with an intriguing story and setting.
In my opinion the franchise has got relatively small amount of attention, many people are unaware of Metro games, which is a shame. They are great games.
Ueno Bullet storm was underrated. This. Isn't.

On my behalf, Metro Last Light Redux was a pretty good game, but this game feels even more cinematic and more intense.
well this isnt actual gameplay it is a gameplay trailer so it is setup to be cinematic and scripted

Dmitry Glukhovsky has given me permission to use quotes from his book Metro 2033 for voiceovers and
I'll use parts of the soundtrack and sounds from the game Metro 2033 to finish the production.
If anyone has any tips or requests on the type of filming for the video be sure to write them in the comments.
Cheers Rhian.

Spoilers from the last Book, Metro 2035:
The air is completely safe to breath outside of Moscow, and even in parts of Moscow, there's a major conspiracy relating to how "unlivable" the outside world is.
Please tell, is it worth it?
prototype8813 2034 wasn't disappointing, if you're referring to the quality of the story. I think it's worth the read personally.
Guys think about it, how many years have passed since the other games so humans are able to go outside withouts masks and also have a train installed i m so hyped about this
JOHNNY GR and it looks like we are no longer in Moscow
yes, in metro 2035 - book artyom gone from moskow. Now it is looks like karelia
If you read the book (Metro 2035), you would know. Don't want to spoil anything. :-)
It wasn't a death sentence to go outside without a gas mask. In epilogue for 2033 Artem frequently visits the ashes of Botanical Garden without a mask when feels a need to contemplate and think about his sins.
edit. I mean epilogue of book
Alvari you right, sry. But you can see that this is not Moskow. )))

Now thats a game. Very intense 5min.
A more scripted demo than I would've liked, but I'm confident in these guys. It'll be great.
Yeah, some of those animations could be very interesting for immersion, but I don't think you'll have grabbing a magazine from the hands of a skeleton in the game, it would be a bit too long imo xD
all demos are scripted
I bet everything is scripted in this video. Every single second, every move of everything. It's 100% script, just in-engine. And they will have made sure that every pixel looks good in it. It looks awesome for a trailer and of course this is a million times better than fake pre-rendered videos that show no actual in-engine footage, but don't get your hopes up that the final game will ever look as smooth and real as this scripted trailer here.
Yo, I played both of the two last metro games, and they will look like this. It won't be this scripted, of course. Thats a given, all I'm saying is that graphically-wise, its gonna be exactly like this :)

I read the novels and played the games when I was in college, I've never seen a game or a book has so specific Russian features. I live in China and when I was a child ,many things around me were effected by the CCCP or Russia, but actually I don't really understand these cultures until I met Metro. Why isn't someone making a fantastic film out of this game with fantastic people ? 🤔
I like the fact that it could make a fantastic movie but in the past, the adaptions based on books which had adaptions based on it becoming video games just generally didn't tend to bode well. tbh When i play the games it feels like a movie anyway.
TECHNATION , good question Metro 2033 need to become a movie but awesome not like Paul Anderson's Resident Evil movies or this new Tomb Raider movie

Edit: Wow, so this is how it feels like being on the top comments, thanks guys. And cheers for one of the most creepy/intimidating monsters ever seen on videogames (tbh, i ended up watching walkthroughs on that part, *2 spooky 4 me*)
José Gabriel García yep fucking scary
I disagree with all of you, librarians were the cutest of them all. Sure, they'd bitch slap you once in a while but they still were cute. Even cuter to see them sleeping and snoring, wanted to cuddle them. And no, this is not sarcasm.
THOSE WERE HELL HAHAHHA, I KEPT ATTACKING THEM. i could always kill the first one in the lobby with all my ammo, but then i was fucked :) Took me a few hours to figure out, as i hate walktroughs.
I see you haven't played the DLCs yet, have fun.
Honestly that fight was super fun for me. It's been a really long time so maybe my memory is off but even though it was challenging it was a good challenge. Every fight of the Metro games was so satisfying. The enemies had varied attacks and were a nice challenge but all the preparations I made before ultimately paid off. Hopefully this game will have just as satisfying gameplay.
IF THIS IS OPEN WORLD I WILL BE SO HAPPY,IT WILL BE LIKE THE STALKER SEQUEL THAT WE NEVER GOT
ITS OPEN WORLD MATE
It will not be open world... It will stay linear like the previous ones...
www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/metro-exodus-will-offer-more-freedom-but-wont-be-going-open-world/
The description of this video says "Explore the Russian wilderness in vast, non-linear levels"
Agreed... But the Game's Executive Produces said otherwise... So the intern that wrote this description might be wrong...
Saúl Espinoza Read the whole article that you just linked man. At the bottom of it, he says that there are plenty of large nonlinear levels. While it's not "open world" in the traditional sense, it's still not linear, according to that article.
Fucks sake. You must have read that first two sentences where he said the whole "We're trying not to stray far from the traditional linear setup of the first two" and jumped to a conclusion
Woohooo so hyped! I freaking love that they used the same music from the original Metro 2033 trailer in this trailer. Brings back memories :D
Here I am, on the 6th year anniversary, re-reading the trilogy of books and re-playing the trilogy of games.
Truly a masterpiece like no other. Metro is... Unique. And I think that is the best compliment the whole series can receive. To be engulfed in the realm of the post-apocalyptic Russian landscape with all your senses (both via the book and via the games) is a feeling which words could not do justice.
