Makes a 60 year old Englishman cry every time I hear her velvet voice. She was an incredible drummer as well. A beautiful human being and so tragically taken way too soon. ✌️♥️🇬🇧
You can see the difference in relation to her health & sinning we've only just begun she looked so healthy & whilst with Top of the World she started to feel the effects of Anorexia as she looked gaunt, but her courage to go on was amazing, hats of to Richards brilliant arrangements. Definitely the best female voice of all time!💛
KAREN CARPENTER was A GREAT DRUMMER And KAREN and Richard CARPENTER WERE BROTHER and sister AND KAREN died from Anorixer nervosa AT the YOUNG AGE of 32 AND You SHOULD REACT to the Live music video OF THE SONG CALLED CLOSE TO YOU where Karen PLAYS the drums
The look on your face as you realize that you're hearing an absolute once-in-a-lifetime talent that will never be duplicated. Karen Carpenter is an absolute genius level talent and her voice, her vocals, her perfection in her vocals are incomparable. I'm so glad you enjoyed this clip. I also hope you walk away with a whole new appreciation for the Carpenters because their raw talent won't be replicated any time soon. 💛💛💛💛💛
💛💛 I'm so glad that you enjoyed watching my video and it was lovely to see your reaction to it. Of course, I have to agree that Karen had an amazing, unique voice... There's much more Carpenters stuff to enjoy on my channel, including rare interviews, live in concert and TV performances!💛💛
Loved that intro to "We've only Just Begun." It has Richard's genius written all over it!! He obviously did this after her death and it's a beautiful arrangement!
John Bettis, was part of a 3 piece jazz group with Karen and Richard, before they became The Carpenters. John also co-wrote this song with Richard, and 37 other of their hits. John was asked, "What did Karen sound like, when you first heard her sing?" His answer, "She sounded just like you hear her now. She was only 16 years old, and she already had the voice, without even working on it. She had that God-given voice, from the beginning."
Miaaaa, thank you for your intelligent and sensitive analysis of the Carpenters. Many of the songs they performed have become classics. Karen's voice is truly otherworldly and unforgettable. Their music is timeless.
That was a "FEVER PITCH" of a song. Karen has been considered one of the all time best Female voices. We miss her and always will R.I.P..❤❤❤❤❤...love you Mia....you go girl!❤❤
Did You See Me LIGHT UP 😃✨ Oh My How I Enjoy The Sound Of Karens Voice .. It’s So Sweet , So Pure , Soo Perfect !! Thank You For Tuning Into Todays Reactions Jose , You Know I Appreciate Your Support 🙂
Their first hits which went to #1 were "We've only just begun" (probably played in more weddings than any song in the 70's) and "Close to You". Karen has a 3 octave contralto voice, and it is simply heavenly, smooth, and unmatched tone quality. Richard, her brother, harmonizes well with her and he composes/produces their songs. He is also an accomplished pianist and Karen is also a fine drummer, which she played drums for in most of the recordings. They had quite a few Top 40 hits during 70's and 80's. She is leading the Angel Choir, no doubt. RIP Karen.
Every single time she just touches my heart.💛💛💛💛. They never made a bad song. The rabbit hole is deep. Never stop. I Can Dream Can't I, You're The One, Live concert videos are also incredible. Love you're sincere reactions and can tell Karen is touching your heart. She is one of a kind.
Karen was my first crush as a young kid. I thought she was really amazing. I guess I was just 6 or 7 years old when I heard her singing on the radio. It was the first time that I realized that music could change people's lives. It could help people. It was a lot different from what adults said when they just spoke to each other. Singing was totally different. You could say anything you needed to and everyone would accept it and embrace it. Now, I'm older and I understand that things are a bit more complicated than that. But, I still hold on to the idea that the feeling she gave me really meant something.
Yes! And it's so awesome that they were best friends, too. Olivia was one of her bridesmaids at her wedding (not the maid of honor, word had it that Olivia wanted all the focus on Karen, so she was a regular bridesmaid). And later, sadly, an honorary pallbearer at Karen's funeral. That's how close they were. Olivia would travel to the suburb Downey where Karen had lived since 13 yrs old & hang out at the stores, shop, eat at the local restaurants and what not and everybody would leave them alone because everybody knew Karen. So they didn't deal with any Paparazzi or ppl wanting autographs and such. Some of the locals still have some sweet and funny stories to tell about Karen & Olivia. They both were truly class acts, and so wonderful to their fans. Truly loving, kind, and caring to their fans.
I didn't realize how much I missed the beautiful voice of Karen Carpenter until your reactions on them! There isn't another woman who can "melt a heat " like Karen did. I know I'm not alone when I say how much I love and miss her, thank you Mia for another wonderful song and touching review! ❤
@@chrisalldis3375 I noticed the same thing, she performed courageously as the disease took over! There was little to no information about the disease back then to the average person and denial was all around her especially to Karen herself. A beautiful, talented young lady taken way to soon, she is still loved, admired and missed very much!
You're right.... I've never heard anybody even try to sing like her and her voice is in a place by itself. Good point....I'd never thought about it but that's exactly right .
Karen Carpenter had perhaps one of the greatest, if not THE greatest female pop vocalist ever. No tricks, no auto-tune and if you go on UA-cam and listen her sing acapella, you’ll be floored. She was also a TERRIFIC jazz/rock drummer. She died centuries to early. 💔
The Carpenters created such gorgeous, lush music because Richard understood the emotional impact of major 7th chords delivered in a cascading full voice style. God rest Karen and bless Richard always!🙃😃😎😉🤪💛
When folks listen and react to The Carpenters, they all consistently describe the music as wonderfully arranged and the voice of Karen as "Angelic," "Soothing," "Incredible" and "Wonderful." There are few performers who have, for decades, commanded such respect and admiration. It makes me very happy and satisfied to see new generations discover and appreciate The Carpenters as I have.

Whether it is about quiet moments in your life, private thoughts, or the haunting memories both good and bad. But it is music you really listen to. And that is something that can't be easily discounted. Enjoy.
Within just a few notes you know that its Karen Carpenter and you know that you are hearing a voice that is just so special - how could one person possibly have so much talent - her beautiful voice and her talent as a drummer made her someone who truly was on Top of the World - she truly brought a smile to everyone who heard her magical voice

💛💛💛💛💛💛 A wonderfully sweet reaction, Mia. Karen melts my heart too all these years later. I was an OG fan from Close To You. Went back for Offering later. A bit of Carpenter trivia, the guy on the drums in WOJB is Cubby O’Brien. He’s visible in a lot of concert and TV show appearances. The trivia, he was an OG Mouseketeer and it was Cubby and Karen on that show as a team. Little did he know how a different and very special Karen was going to come into his life. Hal Blaine did most of the recording drums starting on Close To You. Karen did the Offering/Ticket To Ride album and some songs later on. The powers that be wanted Karen at the front of the stage and Hal was a master drummer. Karen still did drumming on a lot of concert appearances. Many are on UA-cam and a joy to watch her go. Hal loved Karen’s drumming but he was needed for the studio work. I don’t know your history but if you haven’t reacted to the Bacharach/David Medley at Walter Reed Hospital, it is a joy to see a young Karen giving a masterclass in singing and drumming live.
I pulled this one out earlier this year, maybe because I felt like it was so juxtaposed to what is going on right now. Everything feels so bad and negative in the world - and there was a time when people were optimistic. It made me cry to sing it. My parents were not the coolest when it came to their record collection - and I loved records and singing to them from the time I could put the needle on a record and hit play. So these were the first songs I sang to - and I sang ALL THE TIME. I mean, by the early 80s this music would be considered so uncool - but I love all kinds of music. In fact, even now, I have a few Carpenters albums I bought from the used bin at a local record store - I started to buy every album from my childhood when my husband got me a record player a few years ago. So when no one is home I put them on.. and it's like my guilty pleasure. Thank you for your reaction!!
My favorite vocalists in the early 70's.... Oh You should have watch """TOP OF THE WORLD ((Live at the White House Edition)) Such a sad ending to her life. But atleast we have he songs..""I NEED TO BE IN LOVE"" is another one of my favorites by her💛
Yes, as others have mentioned, Karen is an excellent drummer and considered herself a drummer who sang, not the other way around. To see her playing drums I recommend the "live concert" in Australia, 1972 "Bacharach Medley" segment. Or the "Carpenters Budokan, Japan, 1974, concert with the songs "Johnny B. Goode"( Rock & Roll drumming) or "Mr. Guder" (Jazz drumming). Enjoy! And yes, she is fabulous and truly in a league of her own. And thank you soooo much for your reaction to the wonderful Karen Carpenter, brother Richard, and the band. Blessings to you!
Looking back..I know that Karen and Richard and myself..we’re all about the same age..I would have been 36 when she died at the age of 32..Still miss her smile..her voice was other-worldly..but she was beautiful and funny..and had a mean set of sticks on those drums..her eyes sparkled..and she will forever be missed..disorders were not understood in the 70’s and 80’s..and I believe she needed a support system of friends around her to reinforce the fact that she was truly an angel here on earth..her mom telling her she was chubby from early on..is despicable..you never tell that to someone you love..I would have told her every day..that she was stunning..no pretend smiles..no lies..because she was..this amazing woman weighed 60 pounds when her heart gave out..the weekend she went home to visit..her parents..she should have been loved not just more..but the right way..I am still sorry..for everyone’s loss..she was like Michael Clark Duncan in The Green Mile..one,of,God’s creatures..but as I said..she was an angel here on earth..and I guess she loved all of us..
Makes a 60 year old Englishman cry every time I hear her velvet voice. She was an incredible drummer as well. A beautiful human being and so tragically taken way too soon. ✌️♥️🇬🇧
