Went to the Santa Lucia last year and it was a good hotel in a great location. This year for a change went to the Riu Nautilus in Torremolinos. Costa del Sol , what a surprise, everywhere was the busiest we have seen in 40 years. 2 beach sunbeds ( with thick foam mattress) and parasol for €14 , drinks, meals, transport, all better value than Majorca. We’ve been going to Majorca, as well as other places since the mid 1980s and will still vary where we go but if they’re trying to reduce tourist numbers in Majorca they’re doing a great job.
Our first time with TUI (normally go Jet2). We’re just back from Globales Santa Lucia, lovely hotel, but we won’t be back! There are lots of signs saying no hogging sun loungers, but queues start around 06:45 waiting for the doors to open at 08:00, they put their towels on the loungers and many then take a walk into town. The hotel staff don’t police it! We ended up paying 20€ per day at the beach. Back to Adeje with Jet2 for us.
Thanks for sharing Alex. Sunbeds by pools are a bone of contention in most hotels in many countries. It’s not so bad if folks stay on them all day apart from going to the hotel restaurant, to have a swim in pool, or to use the cloakrooms. What I hate is when they get reserved first thing and no one appears until later in the afternoon having been off on trips. 🐸🐸🐸🐸
We've been going to the Santa Lucia since 2013. We originally went with our young daughter and my aging MIL (who is pretty immobile and needed to be close to the beach - hence the choice) from 2013-2017 when it became adults only. This was a shame as through the kids we made many friends and had great fun in the entertainment arranged. We've been back as a couple last August and this August (2023 & 2024). 1. We would have hoped that the opeing of the additional rooftop pool would ease the sunbed issue - clearly not 2. I'm not sure what else the management can do regarding sunbeds. They introduced the two hour rule during our stay (7th-18th Aug). How effective it was, I don't know as we don't typically go to the pool. Having said that, getting a sunbed has never been an issue there - it's getting a sunbed near the pool(s) that's the issue. 3. I don't understand the fuss about sunbeds anyway - - Why book a hotel on two lovely beaches if you're going to stay at the pool? 4. The beach sunbed (not to do with hotel). An earlier vid from Alex this year warned us the prices had rocketed from our previous years' 13:50 for umbrella and two beds to €20:50 (inc the new safes). We budgeted for this but were then shocked to disciver it was actually €24:50. Still, as long as you budget for it, it's worth it and the matresses are a big plus. 5. Back to the Hotel - our BIGGEST complaint is that they do not label food for allegens (and they label food incorrectly anyway). This is not a joke and I am not talking about intolerances which may make you sick. My wife has fish and nut allegies and these are potentially FATAL. Every year we complain about this and nothing is done. On TripAdvisor the management may get back to you and say, "Just ask the staff, who will be happy to help". But the staff are rushed off their feet and it's not really a case of does "This contain nuts?", really you need to know what everything contains or you're not getting the possible benefit of the wide range of foods. 6. The evening entertainment is all Karaoke singers - tribute acts (as with most hotels) - something different would have been appreciated, but we thought the quality was better than last year. Probably not as much fun though - with the notable exception of a very camp singer whose name I'm afraid I don't recall. 7. We did have sheets changed for some which had make-up on them! The hotel were very appologetic, and while we were out they sorted this and left us a bottle of their "champagne" and two glasses by way of an apology. Mistakes happen and I'm glad to say they dealt with this professionally. 8. Back in 2013, we were in a "standard" room. The "superior" were being refurbishd into what is now a "Standard" room. However this was all surface work - the bathrooms were not refitted and I have to say they are looking very tired now. They are, however, kept very clean and are certainly not "bad" it's just when you return year on year you notice the decline. 9. Familiarity is great, but it's probably time to move on from Palmanova and the Santa Lucia. We've had some great times there, but next year we'll look for sun elsewhere 10. Big shout-out for Roger's along the Palmanove beach. We've had just about every lunch there (sangria and toasties) and cocktails when coming off the beach from 2013 until 2024 (bar the four years of covid/elsewhere) and we will miss the place. Opened in 1974 (and still looking like it in many ways) the original Roger still works there and his son (also Roger) who speaks fluent English and is probably taking it over. It's rarely that busy so it's very relaxed, and prices are great for a beach front cafe and the food is simple and really good. As are the sangrias. And the Mojitos.
Hi just got back from five days in the leonardo royal in palma nova, it was awful we paid extra for superior sea view room it was disgusting chunks out of the hand basin the shower wall was all bevelled as if there was water behind, the table where the tv was standing on the front was all chipped it was a mess, also the little light next to my bed gave me an electric shock .
I’ve always stayed in the Globales mimosa park everytime I’ve been to Palma nova but my next visit we opted to try the Melia sol palmanova to see what it’s like. The reviews and videos I’ve seen tells me it’s a fantastic hotel. Could you do a video on the hotel please ? We are visiting in may 2025 🏖️
We stayed here in June this year and stayed in a superior room so had roof top pool access. We loved every bit of this place always had our food outside so had that amazing view. Food was very good never had an issue with the food
Sol palmanova was my first abroad holidays and it was absolutely lovely! We absolutely loved palmanova that much we decided to come back on the 9th October. This time we are trying Agua beach hotel.
I have great memories of the Son Matias hotel, we used to go there with my Mum who loved it because everything was at hand & the views from the balconies are just amazing. We were there getting on for 20 times & always enjoyed it.
Looking forward to your new series Alex, it will be a great reference for people visiting and wondering where to stay . Some of the review sites are dubious to say the least .
Hi Alex, we've been going to the Santa Lucia since 1995, you can just make us out on the sunbeds on your video. As for the sunbed situation, yes, early risers go down at stupid o'clock, but we go down as the gates open, at 8, and we always get the three beds that we want around the bar area. It will be interesting to see what difference the new rules make. We always pack up and stroll around about 1 o'clock. We always leave the beds empty and offer them to anyone else as we leave. We will be going back again next year as it's the perfect hotel in a fantastic location, and Palma Nova is an absolutely fantastic resort. We've never found anywhere that has what is on offer here.
Hi Alex. Hope you have enjoyed your weekend. If I was a guest at the globealas hotel and they were short of sunbeds, I'd just borrow one from the beach. Love the interview format. Cant wait for the day when you ask me questions on a livestream 😂 15:42
SO, I've been here... for a week way back in 1986, with my lovely Mrs. and our children. The hotel was great then, and doesn't look too shabby now. I note that it is adults-only and they've amended the name from 'Hotel Santa Lucia'. I'd like to see you go in the public reception area. It would give more of an overall impression about the hotel.
Anyone thinking of going to the Globales Santa Lucia hotel, please check the trip adviser ratings. The food in this hotel is a big letdown. I have stayed here and would not return because of the terrible food. The staff are lovely, but please check out reviews before you book.

Alex, I'm here now came yesterday. Upto now everything is good the downside is that i witnessed a sunbed war form the order age group. With the towels. If you have paid ex amounts of money to get here on this beautiful island, there's definitely no way we would sit around the pool. I was watching from my balcony this morning. I just think it's rude for what i did see.
In your video you said the hotel has a policy of two hour reserve time that’s rubbish we saw towels out all morning nothing was ever done also when they hose down the pool area every morning and around the sunbeds they wash it all into the pool disgusting brown water by the time it reaches the pool
Stayed here first two weeks in August 2024 1 hour and twenty minutes to wait for a sun bed. 30 minutes wait for roof top pool which was freezing. Our room had hair everywhere when we arrived the balcony was small and dirty never cleaned covered in sand from previous guests. Food very repetitive. Superior room not worth the money .stay in the ordinary room Staff were great reception staff were great but we did see a lot of people complaining about the sunbeds we will not be returning. Son Mathias beach hotel far better
My Wife and Myself stayed here last June 2023 the Hotel was Great but the Sun beds were Awful but I notice they have mattress now as everyone was buying airbeds when we were there also the Food was the worst we have ever had we were All Inclusive cheep cuts of meat how anyone can say the food is good must be saying fibs Luke warm is the order of the day that's why there is a microwave for you to use we stayed there in 2019 and the food was good in those Days but last year was it never again
Awful hotel wouldn’t recommend and we go to palmanova every other year for the price they charge you could 4/5 star Caribbean also it’s 2/3star at most worst food at a hotel I’ve stayed at
I have just commented on the awful food. You are correct about the food. People please take notice, the food is Terrible. I Also, go to Palma Nova and have stayed at this hotel, check out reviews is all I can say.

We are here too. Came off a cruise yesterday and totally agree with you
In your video you said the hotel has a policy of two hour reserve time that’s rubbish we saw towels out all morning nothing was ever done also when they hose down the pool area every morning and around the sunbeds they wash it all into the pool disgusting brown water by the time it reaches the pool
Great idea . Thanks for the video lovely
You’re welcome 😊
Stayed here first two weeks in August 2024 1 hour and twenty minutes to wait for a sun bed. 30 minutes wait for roof top pool which was freezing. Our room had hair everywhere when we arrived the balcony was small and dirty never cleaned covered in sand from previous guests. Food very repetitive. Superior room not worth the money .stay in the ordinary room Staff were great reception staff were great but we did see a lot of people complaining about the sunbeds we will not be returning. Son Mathias beach hotel far better
Hi alex 😊
Hey Gloria 👋
My Wife and Myself stayed here last June 2023 the Hotel was Great but the Sun beds were Awful but I notice they have mattress now as everyone was buying airbeds when we were there also the Food was the worst we have ever had we were All Inclusive cheep cuts of meat how anyone can say the food is good must be saying fibs Luke warm is the order of the day that's why there is a microwave for you to use we stayed there in 2019 and the food was good in those Days but last year was it never again

Every hotel I have went to, there is always sunbed pirates, there they are at 6am every morning getting there sunbeds 😡😡😡
Hi Alex myself
You’ve paid enough money should be enough sunbeds for all.
Has anyone been to Globales Palmanova. Going all inclusive plus VIP service. Thanks
Enjoy !
Awful hotel wouldn’t recommend and we go to palmanova every other year for the price they charge you could 4/5 star Caribbean also it’s 2/3star at most worst food at a hotel I’ve stayed at
